- We took our first test drive with Enotria: The Last Song, a sunny soulslike powered by Unreal Engine 5 that makes some bold new attempts to bring true combat classes and flashy special abilities into the very familiar soulsborne subgenre. Previewed on PC by Jarrett Green.

Some folks complaining about the increasing number of soulslike games on the market, yet won't think twice picking up their Jrpgs, indie narrative, sports game, oh and 1st person shooters could also be a prime example.
Stop complaining, play what you like, and let people enjoy their favourite genres.
Back then there was at least variety. People will always pick what they enjoy. The difference is almost every game shown is a soulslike or roguelike. If someone before didn't like JRPGs they could play other genres. Now, you have to dig to find newer stuff that aren't soulslike or have roguelike elements.

Animations needs some heavy work. The hammer and greatsword are swung as if they are incredibly heavy, but when you are taking potions the character handles them with one arm like its a shortsword.

I'm ready for "Majula: the game".
Instead of "souls-like" just call it "tactical swordplay" so the children in the audience can stop crying about the nomenclature.
Easy/story mode in every game
They sould really fix the fact that a landed enemy, magically and instantly stands up before a critical hit

That's a bug in their animation blueprint.
As a Bionicle fan as well as a Soulsborne fan, the idea of collecting masks that give you different powers certainly sounds exciting to me.

Souls-likes and Rogue-likes are really oversaturating themselves. Hopefully this game can stand out.

So many games getting people hooked with promise of running on Unreal 5 but in the end turns out to be Unreal 4 or in house engine
actually that game from EA(forgot the name) was on UE5 but it flooped cause noone could run it and the perfromance was kinda bad

That's like saying the shooter genre is getting played. As long the formula is executed well and brings something fresh and new, it shouldn't be an issue

There’s a difference between the two though. Many games claim to be soulslike and actually aren’t, there are many mechanics that make a soulslike different from an rpg

fromsoft's games have a hidden rhythm game element to it that no other "souls like" has been able to replicate. Everyone thought Lies of P was just another Bloodborne but then it turns out to be completely different overall. Everyone tries to emulate Fromsofts gameplay style but no one actually can
They're not so we NEVER WILL. Zelda is an rpg the witcher is an rpg skyrim is an rpg, none of them have soul elements whoch is why souls like and soulsbourne are totally different genres

animation could be better. the hammer attacks are slow & heavy but then it is flailed effortlessly when drinking potion.
