- Shinyoung, who prefers to be called Grace, was born in Bryan, Texas, and is originally from the Republic of Korea. She moved to Saudi Arabia when she was 5 years old. She enjoys cuddling in a blanket while watching movies, and doing unnecessary challenges such as making 5000 paper stars. Her hobbies are drawing, baking and debating. She dreams of being the president of Korea one day.
In her talk, Shinyoung talks about the three steps to learn a second language.

I just loved her tips, so usefull. She seems a lovely person as well.
This is really great! Thanks a lot, Grace. I am trying to learn Korean because I am becoming more and more fascinated by the culture. I hope I can learn fast even if it means I have to fail a lot haha
Aadya Aggarwal Are you still learning Korean ? If yes, then I've just one thing to say and that is - don't give up. If you're really really really want to learn this language just say to yourself - "I won't give up." Learning a language is never useless even if you know 100 words in that language. 😃😉😊
How is your learning going? 😊
That Ted Talk is really nice and useful
Thank you so much, ma'am

Hello Polyglots, has anyone already expanded his vocabulary linguistically about series or generally gained experience with it. I had planned to watch two series in the evening with subtitles from next week on. Mainly for English and French. I'd be happy to hear about your experiences.
Also, if you are learning english and french- on lingopie you can watch a french series and have english & french subtitles
I'm not sure what you are asking, but many dutch owe a lot of their English vocabulary to watching English-spoken TV-series and movies with good subtitles in Dutch. Series and movies in other languages unfortunately are quite rare on dutch TV nowadays
Her voice brings me back to my childhood when I watch those 90's/2000's cartoon. I love it!😍😍😍
It’s great

Tous d'aborde merci ènermement pour être lâ aujourdhui ça fait de plaisir . Pessonalement j veux parler la langue français courament comme un native
Que le dieux me aider 🤲
英語を母語じゃ俺でも第二言語であった日本語になったほど、まだ下手するためが学んでいるこの言語当てほしいに少し習得したできますよ。韓国語が喋ってませんけど
There's native Japanese people who've set up learning RUclips channels for whenever you're stuck on certain grammar patterns and suchlike issues, you don't have to get a face to face teacher in this day and age but that's still also a great option.
Good video! The most important thing in life is knowledge of foreign languages! Thanks to foreign languages you can realize all your dreams and realize your grandiose ambitions! Hi ¡Hola!
جميل جدا
Good job
هل تدرس اللغة العربية الآن؟
Andnausea, merhaba, hello! I am living in
a multicultural life. I'm from a Korean
family, but I was born in the States and
lived there until I was five. Then I
moved to Saudi, which was a totally new
environment to me. Flowing around these
various cultures, I got interested in
languages. Currently I'm learning Arabic.
it is fascinating, but hard at the same
time. Arabic is nothing like the
languages I've been speaking with, but I
found out that my struggle is not only
because of the difference between them;
it's also because I want to speak it
fluently. In summary, I want to be
fantastic though I have no idea of it. So
how can you speak a really different
language but still be good? Thinking of
my own experience, I found three steps,
but before I dig into the steps, I want
to ask you a question.
Learning a foreign language is hard,
Right? But why is that? Yes, it could be
because of the different sounds,
different letters, a different grammar
structure, but is that all? In my opinion,
the biggest reason is because people are
afraid to be wrong, and that is the first
step. Not to be afraid of failure. Be wrong,
make mistakes, fail. You should not be
ashamed of those. This is an important
step because by failing, you can make
great progress. Don't believe me? Then
listen to my story. Once I had to write a
word in Arabic, meaning achievement, but I
accidentally wrote a word that meant
excretion.
Eventually I failed writing that word,
but you know what? I never forgot those
words. It's just stuck in my head, and
this is how I realized that learning
from failure is much more efficient than
just mechanical memorization. Also it's
not only me that is saying this. Experts
also proved this too. According to
Harvard Business Review, managers in the
vast majority of enterprises such as
financial services, product design,
hospitals, and even NASA's Space Shuttle
program, genuinely wanted their organizations
learn from failure to improve future
performance. Never forget that failure is
nothing to be ashamed of. You learn from
it. The second step is to find a guide.
Failure helps you learn, but you do need
someone to help you out with your
mistakes. My guide is my Arabic teacher. She helps
me through my learning process, but of
course it is definitely okay if you
don't have a language teacher. Look
around. People would love to teach you
their native language. For example, like
me if any of you wants to learn Korean, I
would be more than glad to help you. To
people, the fact itself that a foreigner
is trying to learn their language makes
them delighted. So look around and find a
guide. Finally, the last step is to be
passionate. Passion is powerful. Sometimes
you might get down when you find
something challenging. For example, I
found it really tough to learn the two
forms of words in Arabic: feminine and
masculine. It was also hard to understand
why they divided words into two groups.
Why couldn't they just keep
the same for everyone like other
languages. But as I got to know Arabic
better, some part of it just helped me
understand. To me, Arabic is like a bridge
that connects me with a really different
culture. And I guess that is why I'm
passionate about it. Just remember when
you're full of passion, there is nothing
that can stop you from meeting your goal.
Learning a language is difficult, but
when you're not afraid to fail, find
someone to help you out and be
passionate, you will be more than ready
to learn or speak a foreign language.
Shukran, Thank you, Comeonsunita.
[Applause]
Gotta be kidding me
you make my homework 3 times easy i love you
Merhaba
I want someone translate this video please🙏
The writing under the ted talk be like: Shinyoung, who prefers to be called Grace
*continues to call her Shinyoung*
Thank you for this talk! In my opinion Arabic makes a difference between feminine and masculin out of precision, it's more precise.
Is this about grammatical gender or biological sexe?

Hello!, I'm a native Spanish speaker, and I'm looking for a native English speaker to speak with frequently, in both languages, via Discord, Skype, or other, to improve our speaking skills. If there is someone interested, we can fix something.
I am new to Spanish. Would love to team up
Please teach me korean😭🤣😭😭
If you want to learn English , just watch Hollywood movies.
Is it effective?

It is “Fail-yer”, not “Fal-u-er”.
Not sure what we are suppose to get out of this or what her message is here. What help an I supposed to get out of this video . This TED talk can't just be , "relax and have fun and you'll get it ," para-summerizing . There was no help here. I mean encouragement is great but it's not really a solution and it's something I think we already know. But take a cute girl with a cute mousy little voice and all of you in the comments are like. "I love her voice"...."she's so right".....all stuff that is probably true but not relevant to why you clicked the video or what you were looking to get out of it
She talked about three steps to learning a secondhand language and went on to describe how they’ve helped her in life so far. 1.) don’t be afraid to fail 2.) find a guide and 3.) be passionate
When you can't pronounce failure or genuine, why should I listen to you about language?
@Cara Wallace just one, and I speak it well.
+Mitch You're a little man.
@@mysticbazuso36 if you spoke more than one you would understand, educate yourself pal.
@@lucyflowers6256 educate myself? I already speak the world's language, pal. I don't need to learn anything. This woman should not be doing tedtalks in English when she can barely speak English.
@@mysticbazuso36 She... She literally messed up like two words, the rest is perfect english... Again, if you spoke another language you would know, but you don't, so you keep not knowing because you think you don't need to.
i gave you the benefit of the doubt but now i can tell you have, a tiny mind.
