I love it when you guys post a video! I have a quick couple questions. I happen to live on a ranch in Wyoming. We run cattle on both desert terrain, and forests. I notice where you guys have cattle, it is very rocky and rough. We are always careful on rocky areas because our horses might loose their shoes on them, (we don't have mules or donkeys). My questions are: Do you guys have trouble with loosing horseshoes on your horses and mules? Do you even use shoes? Do you have to combat hoof damage with good trimming and hoof care? Anyway, I love your channel!
Hoof care is essential to the care of most domestic horses, and I’m sure these horses see the farrier to get pedicures when they’re not working, though maybe not as often as other horses since they file their hooves down naturally while on the job.
In terms of horseshoes, some people believe horses that work and run in rocky terrain don’t need shoes, and in some cases they’re right. However, carrying a person around affects the hooves differently than the life of a wild stallion. Not to mention that the humans that care for them keep them well-fed and well-hydrated, which means they have more stamina than most wild horses, so they typically run longer and harder. It’s probably best to have shoes at least on their front hooves to prevent wear and cracking if they’re carrying a rider. Hope this was helpful!
@@McKeelix Thanks for the info. I was mostly curious about shoes for Mules because I have heard they have hard hooves. We don't own any Mules or donkeys so I am unfamiliar with how they compare to horses.

What a great channel! I did not know the real cowboys still exist in US. GoPro gives me the real feelings on riding horse, and now I understand horses are still much better than dirt bikes on any terrains. You guys are very cool!

Like watching your videos here but I'm curious why don't you get yourself a drone for looking for them cows on the mountain and then then just go straight to them
He use to have one, it crashed and broke in an older video. And the drone wasnt as effevtive as people thought it would be.

I know I’m no expert on being on a ranch and raising cows but isn’t it kinda risky to tie up a cow for 24 hours with no food or water with predators around during a storm?
Natural selection. Not going to risk the lives of a human because a steer was too mad for no reason
Cows that live in the desert for example where they are right now can go days without food and water and they usually feed them food and water a lot of food and water lol before leaving
Not really, been done millions of times, just do it right.
There’s food around her (grass) and they would usually go days without water as troughs can be far apart x

If you bell some, your job is a lot easier. My dad did that and saved lots of hours. Down side is you may have to pull the bells if you winter them near people who don't want to hear the bells.
