- I took a break from my full time traveling to come help a friend that is battling cancer. He is not home right now, so I am going to go take a little road trip to take a break and recharge. I need my nature therapy.

My wife was a very smart girl and very educated RN. When she was diagnosed they were not very encouraging as to the outcome. She had to choose chemo or not. She chose to do chemo knowing the side effects and studying her scenario as best she could. She ended up doing 2.5 rounds of chemo over almost 5 years. She chose the day she was done fighting, I never imagined anything like that and couldn't believe it was happening to her. So unbelievably tough. My urge was to keep encouraging her to fight, but I realized that was selfish. There are tough things going on every day hopefully that most people will never have to consider. Your being there is the most powerful thing you can do.
So sorry for your loss. It never leaves you, but it does somehow become part of you so that you can keep breathing and walking and eventually having a life with them just outside of our reach. It's bitter and sweet all at the same time I think. Thank you for sharing.🙏
It can be a tough world for some of us. I'd like to think through my suffering, Ihave learned to give empathy to others suffering.

You are so right. He needs to still have some control over his last few days. He then places no guilt on you for a decision.
At this point the best thing all of us can do is to pray to God on behave of your friend and I will also pray for you Jeepsy, to help you deal with all the stress and anxiety you must be going through as well!
That is all any of us can do is take everything one day at a time. I am like you and always look at both sides. It's been a full year since I lost my mom to cancer and seeing you go through this with your friend still brings me to crying. Keep thinking positive Sarah. Safe travels for you and little one 😢😊

Hey Sarah, I also have that way of thinking too. 🤔 Comparing the pros and cons of a situation. Taking it one day at a time... hoping and praying for the best 🙏 it's overwhelming and stressful not on just the individual who's going through something, but it stressful and worrisome for family and friends as well. Because they go along on the journey as well as the person who is diagnosed with Cancer!! I know this... because I was that person. 😟 Different type of Cancer, but cancer nonetheless. I'm a survivor of six years now! So I've been there and done that, and couldn't have done it with out the help and love, support of my family and friends! No joke...so I think you're a wonderful friend to your friend and helping him with his journey, difficult as it's looking to be! God bless you 🙏 for that...but you too need your time to rejuvenate and get your time in with nature! Good for the soul. 👍 So enjoy your next few days and soak it in, and make the best of it!! You are a good friend to step back and let your friend make his own decision. I have personally known a couple people with cancer who chose quality over quantity. One of them in particular chose 3 months of enjoying what they have left instead of 6 months of trips to the hospital and enduring all the side effects...Her husband supported her decision and kept her comfortable with her favorite foods and all the movie channels available. She peacefully passed in her sleep beside her husband. I have thought what would I do as well and I think I would choose quality with whatever time I had left. Sending love and prayers to you and your friend.
Well Sarah, you are a trooper and so is your friend. I've been down similar roads more times than I care to remember and none of them were fun nor fulfilling, but that wasn't the point, it's just what you choose to do for another human being. The sad thing is that there are many people all over the world who don't have someone like you in their life who is willing to pay the price of caring for someone. You can call it a death watch, which I hate that term, or end of life journey, or just life as it is at that moment for the person you are with. And whether we experience death as a long goodbye or a sudden unexpected shock, it's death. And even if you have spiritual beliefs that help you cope with such losses or not, the pain is still very real either way. You said filming is therapeutic for you. Good, I'm glad! Watching your videos are therapeutic for us as well. I think you have more than a few viewers that can totally relate to your situation and watching/listening to you either helps them continue in the healing process or may prepare them for something in their future, God forbid. And then there are those who haven't been touched by anything like this and though they don't understand from the view point of experience, they can be compassionate towards you and your friend. Glad you get to go take this trip. It will give you something to draw on in the weeks to come. But know that as you walk this walk at your friend's side, you are not alone. Many have chosen to walk quietly and invisibly along with you and your friend, sharing it in our spirits hoping somehow it will help share the burden. We don't really know one another, but we can care. Just know that you are thought of and prayed for. Thank you for sharing and thank you for showing us so much beauty the way that you do.❤🙏

Caregivers need a break. This I can relate to because for the most part I've been a care giver off and on for 15 years. Sometimes it can get to be too much and a break is essential for good mental health.

I wish I had a friend like you. Not just because I have cancer. Not to sound goofy but, you're like an angel in my eyes. I was diagnosed with bladder cancer. I had to have chemo before operation, which had become stage 4 by then. Bladder. prostate and a bunch of lymph nodes were removed. I also had a major hernia repaired at the same time. Sadly, there was some collateral damage. Two discs in my back suffered compound fractures, another splintered and caused some nerve damage. My left leg lost practically all muscle tone and now looks weird beside my right leg. I can barely balance on it now. It also took six months for wound to close as I am also a type 2 diabetic. I then went through immunotherapy. Well, I've lived longer than expected however, I have a feeling something is up. I do have a CT scan in a couple of weeks and I'll know about a week after that if I'm still going to be on the sunny side for a while. I've lived in daily pain and suffered many complications for quite a while now. This cancer thing is no journey, it's a train ride through hell. It sucks when you know your clock may be ticking a lot faster than anyone else. It also sucks when "friends" and even some family magically vanish at a time like this. I do not wish to put the burden on my kids to be my support team so, I get my RUclips friends to give me that support. Sadly some, also dealing with cancer, have passed away. I've been subbed to you for quite a while and I do find solace in your vids. For obvious reasons, I can not hit the road so, I'm glad there are some, like yourself, who can find that peace on your travels. I kind of knew, right from the first vid showing your friends jeep, that you were going to get it. I would have done the same. Lastly, it kind of hit me hard when you mentioned the comparison thing. I even put a timeline on that, not that I wanted to. I even know about the face situation. All I can say is be there for him. Try to smile more than cry, even if smiling makes you taste your tears. See if he wants to edit, especially music. If he cant get out to nature, maybe working with the images of nature mightt be interesting. Kisses to little one. I look forward to the nature stuff, and updates on the friend and when not in nature.
It's a hard decision to make, but I do believe that if the quality of life is not very good, I wouldn't want to extend the suffering.😢
