    Great job with the hand pollinating, Paul, fingers crossed they both set fruit for you 🤞. I really need to repot my dragon fruit plants that I grew from seed years ago. I also need to make some strong supports for them as the bamboo and string I used eventually collapsed lol 😂

      Thanks Peter, hopefully your ones take off again after you put them in a bigger pot.

    Great us eof space as always Paul. Exciting time for pollination. Learn't a lot and also from the comments already up. Best of luck with the variety development. Always a good watch mate.

    I recently got a dragonfruit from Gardenworld. I hope mine does half as good as yours. I need to check the variety, as I hadn't considered polination.

      Thats cool. I can send you heaps of cuttings of other varieties if you want some. 😀

      @UrbanBounty that is a super appreciated offer Paul. Before I waste your time, lets see if I can get sucess up here in the Dandenong Ranges. I might be pushing their extremes, as I don't get sucess with tropicals like you achieve. But I thought why not give it a go 😀

    Well done Paul great timing - i had to borrow pollen for an Epiphyllum 6 weeks ago had 15 flowers but have one good growing fruit and 4 slow - if you get pollen before yours open it keeps in fridge a week but viabity reduces.

    • @UrbanBounty
      @UrbanBounty  9 месяцев назад

      Thanks mate, it's great to know about the epiphyllum cross pollination which will come in very handy.
      I'm going to be checking these flowers daily with my fingers crossed
      Which varieties of dragons do you have currently?

  • @lyonheart84
    @lyonheart84 8 месяцев назад +2

    Wonderful plants to grow whe you have space. Although i germinated a few seeds im doubtful ill ever get them big enough to flower or fruit here 😂

    • @UrbanBounty
      @UrbanBounty  8 месяцев назад +1

      Have you tried epiphyllum? Same family but prefers hanging baskets and will give a small fruit if pollinated and the flower is just as good as dragonfruit.
      The pollen can be used to pollinate dragons too

    Also Paul your creating a Hybrid so could be fun to grow the seeds of these out - maybe might be self fertile?

    • @UrbanBounty
      @UrbanBounty  9 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks for another great tip mate.
      I will do this for sure. Do you think the way I pollinated it will be ok? It was my first time.
      I'm considering a small vaccum next time.
      Pink diamond × aussie gold might be a new one.
