My biggest tip is: Quitting alcohol won't open the gates of heaven and let you in; it will open the gates of hell and let you out. You probably won't win the lottery or instantly get a model body. However, you will be able to make the daily consistent effort that could take you wherever you want to go. It really is amazing being sober. btw, I stole the quote and have no idea from where :P.

Found this channel yesterday. Starting my journey. I work at home, I drink at home. Im alone 99% of the time. I’m drinking 3- 4 glasses of wine /night to “unwind” and numb the stress. I’m sick of it. My health issues I’ve noticed - high blood pressure, inflammation, I’ve developed swollen finger joints- like round knobs on the side of my finger joints. Any added stress is a trigger - 🤷🏻♀️ Im stretched to the limit of my coping skills right now. I’ve got to get better ❤️🩹 and live

Get any and all booze out the house and replace it with zero-proof alternatives. Polar has a great ginger-lime mule flavor, and if you want a ranch water, just squirt some agave and lime juice into your seltzer. You can even get oak chips and soak them in water, and use it in place of bourbon for hot toddies and other bourbon based cocktail alternatives

Some counselors at rehab centers say. "Don't think about forever. Just try getting sober for a week or two at first. Then try for one day more. And one day more ........"
Jesus Christ is helping me quit. I read his word and pray and its helping me so much. And i kove your advice. Im a beer drinker. Been drinking 8-12 for months now and now it needs to 🛑
I got in the habit of going to meetings even while relapsing. So when i got serious this time around (again), i already had a home group. Already had a core group of people i love, ready to welcome me back and share their wisdom.
Hey group, Recently got sober again. I went 7 months last year then thought well im fine i can control my drinking. Started back and realized boom no motivation, feel like crap, stopped getting up lift weights before work, was not the best dad and version of myself I could be. Then my wife was hospitalist with pancretitis and her liver was in trouble as well. I decided enough is enough and I stopped entirety and honestly have no desire to ever drink again. I find a lot of support and positivity from this channel and im glad i came across it. I have a question for anyone out there that might have some good advice. My wife is not as positive as I am and she sort of feels like she is missing out now because she can never drink again. Despite me pointing out the freedom we now have and how much better she will feel once she fully recovers. Im having trouble getting her to seek out support and her finding a no judgemental group she can relate to. Any advice?
I would say to check out the IAMSOBER app. they host many online meetings per week and they may just have a few groups she can relate to. as we mentioned the video, it's important not to get trapped in the victim mentality and feeling like you're some sort of alcohol martyr. It's really easy to sulk and negativity and feeling the fear of missing out. when the reality is you can literally do everything sober except for three things: 1. Get drunk 2. did a DUI 3. have a hangover 😎

I'm a social worker and I specialize in addiction counseling. And yet I only managed to quit smoking (for like the 30th time) three weeks ago and I'm trying to get myself completely sober from alcohol. I don't use any illicit drugs, but I feel like a hypocrite sometimes. In a way I think my experience makes me a better counselor because I understand where my clients are coming from, but something still seems off :/
Sounds like your higher self is talking but you're not listening. This is always the reason why things "feel off". you know what you NEED to do, so stop settling for what you're only WILLING to do 😎
I'm alive today because I glued a gun. Time is not linear. I saw him put it in my face. When he actually did, it was glued. Love dad. Got him to a great place at 91. Sobriety is a journey. saw him yesterday after a year. Happy 92 Charles.
I just can't imagine my life without alcohol. It's been such a big part of my life, it's literally a physical need now. It's just so hard to completely quit
Of course, you've heard the saying " nature abhors a vacuum." When you quit drinking, you create a vacuum, but if you are willing , you are able, and with an open mind, you will fill that void faster than you thought possible .
You couldn't imagine life without toys for Christmas, or without your parents or grandparents. you couldn't imagine life without your first crush, or without childhood hobbies, best friends, or pets. The only thing that's guaranteed in life is change. Don't be the caterpillar that rejects the cocoon of transformation. We only have this one life to live. it's time to write the next chapter of the story of your life. so that you can look back at these decades and know that in just a few short months, you can close the old chapters and complete the hero's journey
Don't think about forever. Think about one hour at a time or one day at a time. Start with baby steps. You change the peer pressure when you change your peers. Make some. friends with people who don't go to taverns or bars.
Then don’t! Start small and ask yourself, “do I need this now? Or do I just want it/ am I conditioned to want to go for that drink?” It’s gonna be uncomfortable for a bit, but that’s your body repairing itself. As long as you’re not having seizures and DTs, a little bit of discomfort is unfortunately par for the course, but you got it homie! Even small changes are important and a step in the right direction!
My tip of getting ready is to firstly notify the closes friends and family what you are struggling with and what they can do, so they can support you during those first days that are super tough. And so that first advice drives directly to the second one which is battle with withdrawal symptoms. Here good diet, a lot of water and vitamins and some physic activity help but it’s okay to feel strong hunger to get back to drinking. That’s where friends and family kick in. It’s really crucial to accept that there is no shame in calling them and talking through the feelings you have in that moment or asking for help. That even small talk with them really heals and in fact it shows your strength and determination in fighting for your sober self, which is absolutely outstanding
I started a routine that work for what I need. Basically went to sleep early, woke up earlier. Found more and more fun activities to do without drinking. I’m three years sober now. Yes, quitting alcohol saved my life. I got three times more time for myself, my health improved, and my brain fog went away. But as someone has mentioned in the comments, it does open the gates to hell. All the problems you were looking away from, running away from, ignoring by being drunk strikes you. You can either run away again, or realize why you were drinking and face it. I did the later and hit rock bottom. I don’t regret it at all, because all there is left for me is to climb up this ditch. Every day is a struggle, but I am striving. It’s the best thing I’ve ever done.
Energy cannot be created or destroyed. We, are just copper pennies at the end of the day. I can see... see my life sober. I know I get there. I really hope I meet you one day. It's great to be totally myself and not scare the sh@t out of the person sitting with me in my home talking to me. I have helped so many. So many have helped me. It's a big one. Dad murdered mum. She's asking me to help take care of him. Seriously, take a test anytime. Just venting. Ignore me. I'm really grateful for this outlet.
I have the issue that I don’t drink a lot per se, don’t get drunk. I quit for awhile then start again. I really really like having drink but know ultimately it is bad for me. I want to not want to drink but I really like it.

@@Silmarillionbul There's my new friend! I'm happy to hear from you this morning 😁 (well it's morning where I live. 8am) What's on the agenda today??? Remember, you've put your body through years of neglect. Make sure you're putting quality foods and supplements to repair and detox from all of that damage! Fruits, veggies, lean meats and proteins. "Eat the rainbow" everyday, and get your hands on quality vitamins and supplements (preferably NSF or USP certified. Most vitamins at Costco are USP certified). I also like to start everyday with an organic probiotic vitamin green juice powder. Helps to repair the gut and starts the day with health rather than poisons.
One tip I can give, based on my recent personal experience, is pick another aspect of your life that needs improvement, and focus on fixing it. For me, I went on the keto diet for 8 months and lost 50 pounds. I've maintained my weight for the 3 months I've been off keto (still keeping the carbs moderately low). More importantly, my keto journey put me down many rabbit holes regarding topics such as inflammation, metabolic heath, gut heath, carb/sugar addiction, etc. Anyway, I've been very proud of that success. Took a lot of dedication and strength. So, as I begin this sobriety journey dot dot dot again, I think to myself, "Nick, you can do this! You have the strength. You proved it with your weight loss/better health journey." Really motivates me.

Very grateful to have found your channel. Thank you, Jae
I'm glad you found us too! The more people we have learning how to BE THEIR BEST, the better the world will be for future generations!
I finally have the black dot dot dot Next to my name 🙌
Thanks for being helping me on my journey for the last 2 years. 🎉🥰
YOU DA REAL MVP!!!!
Keep up the good work
Thank you for this. I am so identifying with you. I
I feel like we're friends already 👯♂️
I dont really drink but these videos still apply and help with my weed habits. Just replace the word drink with smoke and thats me.
that's the way we designed them!! good thinking 😎
This is such a tremendous tool kit that sets one up for success.
🥳🥳🥳 I'm so glad that you like this video! I actually recorded it and edited it for the first time about a month ago when I was down in Florida, but I didn't like the end product.
so I used the philosophies of this channel to reprepare myself, to practice, be patient and to be persistent!
and I think that we both agree that it paid off 😎
Thanks! Its my 3 day sober, after many attempts. Your advice is very helpful and makes me feel better about the hill to climb and less lonely about this journey. Thank you again!
WOWOWOW!!! 3 days is the magic number. now all you have to do is complete the DOUBLE COMBO of both beating the day 4 boss and the day 5 boss, BUT ALSO, You get the added bonus of COMPLETING YOUR FIRST WEEKEND SOBER TOO!!!
Keep us updated, hmu tomorrow morning when you wake up sober...AGAIN!!
@@GettingSoberAgain day 4, no sleep, anxiety dropped a little, eating again. Didn’t eat the first 3. My gut seems to be coming back online as well. Looking forward to make it through the weekend.

I hope you now on month 6 and counting up
As someone who doesn't even plan to stay sober forever, I still find that video very helpful.
Finding a better balance in life is what it's all about. everything is temporary, nothing is forever 🌞
Been drinking 8-12 for months now and now it needs to 🛑
May the Lord bless us all 🙏
I got in the habit of going to meetings even while relapsing.

It's really easy to sulk and negativity and feeling the fear of missing out.
when the reality is you can literally do everything sober except for three things:
1. Get drunk
2. did a DUI
3. have a hangover
😎

Good luck. I know it's not easy. I'm on day 33. I never thought I'd say that. But I am. Remember you are more important than alcohol
@@GettingSoberAgain ok Jae! Sounds like a plan
Of course, you've heard the saying " nature abhors a vacuum."
When you quit drinking, you create a vacuum, but if you are willing , you are able, and with an open mind, you will fill that void faster than you thought possible .
Yes there were crossroads but that what this channel is for. If you are new or want to stop try out this channel and believe in yourself and nothing will be able to stand in your way. Found this channel on my first day of sobriety sol 1. I now am at sol 805 and my life is constantly filled with happiness. I to believe in you and this sober community. Sol; Sober other life.

Here's to looking younger and feeling younger!! Katmom already looks 10 years younger after 2 years of sobriety 😁
It's not going to happen overnight 🤚 but it will get easier keep a schedule but have forgiveness for the times you stray from it. Then get back up and try again and ask yourself what did I learn not to do!🙏
You're onto something 😎
I’m three years sober now. Yes, quitting alcohol saved my life. I got three times more time for myself, my health improved, and my brain fog went away. But as someone has mentioned in the comments, it does open the gates to hell. All the problems you were looking away from, running away from, ignoring by being drunk strikes you. You can either run away again, or realize why you were drinking and face it. I did the later and hit rock bottom. I don’t regret it at all, because all there is left for me is to climb up this ditch. Every day is a struggle, but I am striving. It’s the best thing I’ve ever done.
And a story with better solutions to tell of I'm sure!
Keep up the good work. Keep that positive momentum going
Thank you so much 🌞

Loose estimate on how much I spent on alcohol since I started drinking. Probably not even close to accurate since I drank beer for many years, didn't factor in bars and clubs or my DUI etc but it's *$106, 287* 😳

@@Silmarillionbul There's my new friend! I'm happy to hear from you this morning 😁 (well it's morning where I live. 8am)
What's on the agenda today??? Remember, you've put your body through years of neglect.
Make sure you're putting quality foods and supplements to repair and detox from all of that damage!
Fruits, veggies, lean meats and proteins. "Eat the rainbow" everyday, and get your hands on quality vitamins and supplements (preferably NSF or USP certified. Most vitamins at Costco are USP certified).
I also like to start everyday with an organic probiotic vitamin green juice powder. Helps to repair the gut and starts the day with health rather than poisons.
I am still drinking but I watch these videos hoping I am going to hear from you thank you
Well, here I am 😁 Ball's in your court 🏀
Absolutely! as we always say "Give sobriety a healthy buddy"
Love your message. Played a video of yours in a justice-involved recovery support group a few weeks ago, that I facilitate.

5 days sober then just fell … so sad I want to overcome this foolishness in my life

What did you learn from your drinking detour?

Im trying to be my best self, but part of me is trying to go sober in the hope that someone I drove away by drinking will come back. Is that a wrong thing to hope for?
The person that you drove away is your best self. work on attaining that first before you worry about somebody else's feelings 😎
when you do it for you, that's what matters most
I tried something like that it wouldn't work for me went on vivitrol and relapsed after a month drank a little niqul other day and thought I was going to die because had vivitrol in my system never even thought about the alcohol in niqul even think i was seeing things
