This was a great channel while I was growing up. Now that manga collecting is more popular than ever, it's crazy looking back on these videos and thinking how niche it used to feel. Thanks for putting me onto some good stuff.
@@themangademon8067 About a year ago he got hit with copyright strikes and got his channel taken down. He managed to get it back but in one video I think he said he just hasn’t been feeling like uploading because of what happened. It’s been a year now and I guess so I guess he pretty much quit. That or taking a long break.
@insidiousSwede hope everything is going alright. U were one of the main people that got me into manga. Ur recommendations and reviews were great and helped me pick out some of my favorite series today. Hope to see you back in the future but I understand times are tough and I've definitely felt the manga burnout at times and need to take break. I noticed in the comments some people giving u shit but don't listen to them and just come back when ur ready to come back
I was sold when i heard the name " Naoki Urusawa". I can see his signature art in the mc face too. Sounds interesting. The part where you say it starts slow is also an Urusawa thing, but thanks to his reputation i feel like everyone picks up his works with the belief that it will pick up steam as you keep on reading.
Its 2024 now and I still keep coming back here, hoping that you'd be back till now I just wish you are doing fine in life and maybe make a comeback to YT in the near future
Great video, love Master Keaton, wonderful mix of episodic stories and the lives of keaton and his family. Love how the seperate stories often flow into each other. As far as I'm aware Hokusei Katsushika was the story writer and Urosawa was just art at the beginning, and Takashi Nagasaki is an editor who's worked with Urosawa on lots of his projects, helping with ideas etc. Lots of conflicting stories about it, but supposedly Urosawa also took over doing the story from fairly early on.
Thanks for the info David, I had no idea about Hokusei Katsushika's influence on Urawsawa. Sadly, it looks like he passed in '04 (before Master Keaton ended) so perhaps that's why Naoki ended up taking by over control of the series.
The original 18 volume series actually ended in 1994, this was one of Urawawas first series. He and Nagasaki did a follow up volume in 2012-2014, unfortunately not released in English. Definitely think you can see the influence of this on his later work, this is where he developed his style of a big overarching story interspersed with lots of little personal stories.
Please come back. If it weren't for your channel, I wouldn't have even considered buying the Monster and Pluto manga. I'm also researching whether or not I should read Vagabond or Vinland Saga because their ongoing, and I'm busy keeping up with One Piece.
Hi Insidious swede I see people commenting on your videos a lot asking you when your coming back and while I'm also curios I'm sure your doing far more important things than mangatube.
