I'm an atheist, so of course I believe in the separation of church and state. But it is inspiring when Christians actually act like Jesus. The Bible says very clearly that people must show compassion to their neighbours and help the poor, and that a nation that helps the poor will be prosperous. It doesn't say anywhere that God will destroy the world because of gay sex and abortions. It says that if the leaders don't help the poor and vulnerable, God won't even have to destroy the nation, the leaders will take care of that on their own. I feel like Sen. Warnock has read these parts of the Bible, which many "Christians" have missed. It's not enough to make me believe in God, but I will say that the world would be a better place if it contained more Christians like Senator Warnock and Stephen Colbert.
I agree - if Christians actually followed Jesus's teachings, we wouldn't be so divided and full of hate and violence.
The saying, "There is no love like Christian hate" can be said about MANY in government and out. But not about these two men.

@@DaellusKnights - A big part of the problem is that we generally accept the lesser of two evils, instead of running for office ourselves. Many more decent, competent people need to run for office. That's even more important now, as far right extremists (2020 election conspiracists, QAnon conspiracists, CRT conspiracists, Christian nationalists, etc.) have been motivated to run for school boards and other local offices by far right infotainers.

Having grown up in Tennessee, where my Democratic vote is all but useless, I can’t tell you how deeply meaningful it is to me to finally, FINALLY have a Senator who represents me. Casting my vote for him and Jon Ossoff twice in 2020 + 2021 was truly one of the great honors of my life.

I've been here all of my 53 years and have never been so inspired by candidates until Warnock and Ossoff. I'm in the 13th district and David Scott is my House representative. But I donate monthly to Warnock and Marcus Flowers campaigns. Flowers is MTG's democratic opponent. He is a good guy and reminds me of Warnock, just not quite as "citified"! We have got to support them both!

I'm a big fan of separation of church and state. If senator Warnock can do that, great. I get a good vibe from him. He doesn't appear to speak double speak. So I think the citizens of the state of Georgia should keep him in office.

I can only hope that the people of Georgia choose wisely. You have Walker, who has said he has multiple personalities, who doesn't deny putting a gun to his ex-wifes head threatening to blow her brains out, and who has lied and has been caught in multiple lies such as claiming he was with a police department and then an honorary deputy which isn't true and that he spent time at an FBI training school saying "Ya'll didn't know I was an agent?" Which...That's right, it's not true.
Or you can vote for Warnock. I'm a pretty big fan of freedom of religion, separation of church and state, taxing the churches, and an atheist...But we need people like Warnock who actually fights for the people, works for the people, and who doesn't use his faith as a weapon or regurgitate Christian nationalism. Also not having multiple personalities and someone who hasn't threatened to blow his partners brains out helps too.

Some of us are very thankful for Mr. Warnock. Sad to say, others are blinded by the hate and division the previous administration left in its wake and he is tied in polling with Herschel Walker. That piece of literal crap, domestic abuser with multiple diagnosed mental health issues, just because of his football record at UGA. I guess the fact that he will be a "yes" man for other republiCONS to gain a vote helps him out. It will be a complete travesty if we lose this fine man from the Senate. I have a recurring donation every month to him and MTG's democratic opponent, Marcus Flowers. We need more like these two men running our government.

As an atheist true and true, it is people like Pastor Warnock that remind me why faith of any kind is so important. That the strength to fight on is rarely grounded in the rational but in the feeling that what you're doing is just and worthy of struggle. There are a few Christians who really do live and follow the teachings of the Bible. Even me, an agnostic, sees him as a great man.
Although I'm an atheist, I could listen to Warnock's sermons over and over again. His religion is not just Christianity, it is Humanity, and I and millions of others are true believers and followers of the faith he teaches.

This is just what I was saying! As an atheist, it's clear that you can see that this man's faith propels him to work for the betterment of others He's not trying to convert you. He is however showing you what it means to be a true Christian. He isn't using this platform to say that Trump should go to hell and that anyone who votes for a Republican will also go to hell. However, this is exactly what the white evangelicals are saying! It's a disgusting corruption of the Christian faith. According to Christianity, and many other faiths, we are to love everyone and treat them fairly...the way that we would want to be treated. The key is that word EVERYONE. It includes people who don't believe as we do. When the religious right spews hate, they are acting against one of the 2 key foundations of being a Christian.
1.) To love God
2.) To love your neighbor as yourself
If you can feel love from a Christian like you can with this Senator, then you're in the presence of a true Christian. Otherwise, you're in the presence of what I call a faux Christian and they are not working for the right team. There is a song that they sing in some Christian churches and the refrain goes like this: "They will know we are Christians by our love, by our love, yes they'll know we are Christians by our love". You don't have to be a Christian to care for others and I can see by your comment that you do just that. Have a great day!

I have watched practically every single airing of 'The LS w/SC' and sincerely believe , dear people, that is one of the very best interviews I have seen broadcasted thus far. I did not anticipate that I would genuinely feel ready to step back into a sphere of hope and ambition regarding our evolution as a country. Hearing such levels of insight and context truly is a healthy reminder that all is not lost in this ongoing social experiment called democracy: we have come a long way and strive to be the shining beacon that can endure the test of time through a joint effort day... by day... by day. A life stagnated by fear, hatred, destructive lies and greed is not what I seek. This elected public sevant represents the kind of person I'd like to see more of in Washington.
