+Tom Higgins oh no u can very easliy lift the inner wheel round a corner wouldnt need to fuck around with suspension or tyre pressures just got to go into a corner to quickly!
It's pretty stable for a 3 wheeler since it is wider and lower than the original Rialto and has wider rear wheels, and I think it also has tweaked suspension, I mean, look at it how fast it goes around some of these corners without any problems except that it shakes like hell. Anyways this project is amazing.
For what it's worth to reliant enthusiasts, i have a robin 850 in the mid 90's and have to make a 200 mile journey twice a week to wales from the midlands and wished to try and improve the "cornering ability" at speed. ended up fitting a alloy minlite 5:1/2 J TO THE FRONT wheel. as i recall i have to have a litttle machining done on the centre hole to get it to fit. it did make the steering a lot heavier even at speed but did improve cornering ability simply by having more rubber and a larger contact area on the tarmac. but the downside was when the limit was reached , instead of the from ttre often giving early warning of a rear wheel lifting, this did'nt scrub out any more or slide, it would just lift the rear wheel on fast bends.. i noticed this reliant here on the video appears to use the standard 4" wide skinny tyre ..
@@John-ci2sd The reverse trike configuration is inherently more stable than a conventional trike. In the reverse trike configuration, the basic straight line base footprint is about the same as a conventional trike. However, during deceleration and hard braking, the center of mass now moves towards the much wider stance of the two front wheels. And now while engaged in evasive maneuvers the center of mass stays inside the triangle which constitutes stability in design. Also during cornering centrifugal force will shift weight to the outside wheel so traction is increased dramatically. And ground clearance is never a factor as the non-leaning trikes maintain a full ground clearance at all times. Also, the Yaw rate on this type of configuration is shorter so the trike maintains a sporty quick feel.
@@quadrapodacone thats not what we are talking about here. We are talking about driving a reliant backwards. A vehicle with the reverse trike configuration, depending on if the weight is above the rear wheel, it will tip if accelerating at a corner. While the normal trike configuration tips if braking at a corner. And if you drive a reliant in reverse it works like a reverse trike configuration BUT acts like it has rear wheel steering and the mass is on top of that single turning wheel which makes it TWICE as unstable as the normal configuration.
