Tolgahan! Much respect to you. Just wanted to say thank you. Your cover of "Billabong Valley" by K.G. and the Wizard Lizard was amazing. Had it not been for that; me, and (I will speculate others) may not have discovered the joy of not only K.G.W.L; but the sheer joy of microtonal guitar as well.
@@microtonalguitar It is very amazing track!I believe following it is Anoxia, and that song really ties in well. The entire album is amazing. I have not viewed your channel in a few months, but I hope you enjoyed the K.G album. As of.my posting I did not realize they have K.G.W.L as the opener as well as how I referenced them. Odd. Rock on amigo!
@@HughManatea Recently, my son played K.G.L.W on my channel. I love KG and LW. Maybe I will do a review video if I have time. You are right Anoxia is the twin sister of Billabong!
But he had a special 3D printed base to make it possible to have lego frets in the correct places. This doesn't. It should be all out of tune!? But it isn't. *mind blown*
Thanks Havok! Just a reminder, we designed it with Ruşen Can Acet. And one more thing: we also tried this type of direct installment of Lego pieces but there were three big problems: 1) Buzzing problem in several places because of the fret leveling 2) Lego studs doesn’t get the 12tet semitones, it is still great to have them 3) When you use single Lego squares as frets, the strings and frets couldn’t be together at many points. So when you press the fret, it is in between the individual frets.
Bassmaster Andreas: *improvises incredible bass in multiple styles seamlessly Also Bassmaster Andreas: "I didn't know more frets equal more notes" goddamn this whole thing went great, really fucking fun!
Nice one! Lego is my thing right now: Just build a Lego Tilt case for my Beatstep Pro, a Lego Eurorack Cableholder (Lego Technic holes fit perfectly) and Lego Eurorack Blind Panels.
Like a breathalyzer turned into a breath controller? Or one that actually turns your alcohol percentage into midi data? Either one would be pretty interesting.
When I think of things controlled by breathalyzers, I think of something that doesn't work unless your blood alcohol is low enough. I don't know why anyone would want that. I suppose you could do it the other way around and have a synth you can only use after a few drinks.
Right now I got 1 extremely important thing. It does not really matter if you know the notes or not. What is really important how do you feel the instrument. I should improvise more.
I've been following your channel for years now and this is by far the most fun video of yours I've seen. 16 minutes felt like a 4 minutes video. This is a great experimentation Simon.
This is great. Next time you can line up all the Lego plates on one side of the neck. That way you'll only have to make one cut on each piece. Also it would let you add blocks length-wise onto the neck across multiple pieces since the dots will line up in both X and Y.
Since you've made the jump to removing the fretboard, how about a steel fretboard with neodymium magnet frets? might get some weirdness due to the steel strings, but could be fun.
Din vän fick mig att köpa en likadan Puma tröja. Som i, pausade videon för att söka upp och klicka hem. Aldrig hänt innan och jag vet inte hur jag ska känna kring detta. Tack, I guess. Kul kanal också förresten, får mig att sakna att sitta och leka med instrument ihop med en likasinnad.
Listen, I’m not saying this should actually be a thing but… like imagine this, but not Lego, high quality, and you can place the frets wherever you want. Microtonal dream.
So happy to give you an inspiration. Sounds great!

Absolute legend.
The microtonal guitarist who invented the lego fretboard with his son is Tolgahan Çogulu! Turkish guitarist; super cool musician

The distorted-synth sound on the bass towards the end was so badass

I loved the song " I almost melted the microphone"
Yeah that’s awesome
Loved this!!! Next time we need more houses and palm trees! Possibly the wall I built.
14:00 Omg this video is so much 80's retro pixel love
Simon hasn't heard heard of stretching before. That was the first time he tried it.
What if you made the whole neck magnetic, and then stick magnetic fret bars onto it wherever you wanted?
then the strings would get attracted to the fretboard and probs buzz out
@@TheTeaTVI could be possible on an acoustic with nylon strings, but the magnets would need to be pretty strong.
2:59 is so lovely and has so much potential
More luthiery by Simon? YES PLEASE
going through a tough time at the moment and this video made me so genuinely happy. Thank you Simon :)

Thank You!
Can you post pics or vid? Sounds cool!
@@docnova oh my link got removed. I've made a short video and some pics. Search for "modular lego" on reddit.
This is also a way to reduce bow in your guitar necks without touching the truss rods. Irons are made to make things straight.
Ever thought about creating a synth or something controlled by a breathalyzer?
I don't think that would work for _him_ very well. But there's no crime in making music under the influence.
Im pretty sure there is a breathalyzer midi controller you can get on Sweetwater
Like a breathalyzer turned into a breath controller? Or one that actually turns your alcohol percentage into midi data? Either one would be pretty interesting.

Simon don't do clickbait. He just do. He real.
Aww that was so adorable the way bassmaster andreas asked if he could break the thing put together in the bin, like a little kid :)
That jam at the end rips

I believe that if you made a fretless version the hole neck for the highest string and normal frets for the others would sound sick!
You can really hear the lego brick tone in the fretboard. /s :)
Lego is a childhood staple of mine, and I love guitar. This is a 10/10
Rockin white snus i love onyx myself i had to special order to canada
2:27 Now I just want to see a Steambass
that bass looks and sounds awesome! cool video once again Magpie and Andreas!
Cool video I like the fretboard separation part and the banjo song
That was inspiring. Always fun to tune in.

Great to see Andreas show off his skills now that he is playjng a bass with actual strings and a full scale length :)

badass. such a great way to waste time. you rule magpie!

You should make a neck with two really really big frets
@simon the magpie you should do just this but with an electric guitar or full size drum set
if i find a goodwill guitar, I will absolutely do this to it, I've been dying to get my hands on a microtonal guitar
