Absolutely NOT a failure! Noooooo. That very first musical jam you guys were doing is the exact modality this thing works best, I think. You kinda did it for a second, later on. But, never really got into it. I'm talking about when the guy on the top neck plays a riff and the guy on the bottom neck does the transposition. Please play with that some more. Also, the bottom next is basically left handed, y'know? I guess if that player faced it from the other side, you could play right handed. I think it's really interesting and I would like to see you explore it more. Maybe work on getting the action a little lower. The lower it is, the less it'll stress the structure, too. Good fun, gentlemen. Thanks for sharing!
Im mad about being technical, but in this case you can remove the neck, with a very thin and sharp spatula, and heating, in cases forcing humidity, or in this peculiar case, removing the 17th fret, drill tiny holes, with Jewelry drill bits, puting a pair of foam cutters and heat directly the neck tenon, remove with jiggly ninja movements to save the neck tenon Pd: I know pal's it's a experiment, but more wood in the neck assure you more room to do on a creation, stability, I just say, however, I'm not disappointed at all.
Hey man, i know you have a video on how to do an output on anything, and would be very useful to me a video on how to do a volume control on an output like that, please
NO failure! :D By putting the slide under the strings, the two basses are separated in to two basses. What about testing that out a little bit? If the stable/saddle/sadel/stol (?) is only touching the strings just enough to only give flageolette tones, like drone overtones/flageolettes?
Come on guys .. 2 bodies as well. Then you can have a left hand and right hand player standing next to each other (Siamese twins..) and play the same bass for real both together (tandem) (like a tandem bicycle) (except not) (going in opposite directions) (not on the compass) (and not very far). That kind of style of thing. 2 players for real. Come on guys! Guys? Come on!
so rather than one long string from neck to neck , have the strings go from one neck to 6 to 8 inches into the bottom of the other fret board , 4 strings on each neck and the over lap in the middle , but are not connected ...... then play one neck and let the other neck resonate ..... do you understand what i'm getting at ? maybe even figure out how to put the pickups into the resonating set of strings , away from the set of strings being played
I wonder what would happen if you had a nut to simulate the bridge on the body? You might be able to control it better like you did with a single string
Maybe with shorter necks, this could work a lot better ! What would be the use of such a thing? you could switch right and left hands but also shorten the strings on both ways. Actually, it could be very interesting.
01:05 - Preparing to sing 'God Hates A Coward' by Tomahawk. Still not high on glue fumes... yet. Cutting two toy acoustic guitars (Ed Sheeran size) or ukuleles and doing the same experiment would be good to see. Just find a friend who plays left handed or you both have to lie on your backs upside down to each other, play and hope that the Devil doesn't appear!
Unfortunately because of the way you mounted the acoustic bass neck to the body there was no way it was going to be able to withstand the string tension. Maybe if you'd used a 2nd neck from a solidbody electric bass and and make a neck pocket for it in the body, bolted in on from the rear, then I think you might have had better results. But yeah, I understand you are using bits and pieces that are available to you.
Disclaimer: Commenting at 0:04 Before I watch this video, I'm going to say I think this would be a nice idea, especially with improvised capos so that both necks can be "fretted" and still have a "clean/clear" tone where the body is You know, since flesh is so soft, I imagine it sounds like dull thumps if you were to try this with JUST your hands Or more than just YOUR hands. I guess I mean "...if you were to try this with JUST hands"
Great idea as a double bass but I think you are missing a trick. You need something to go round your waist and something on the back of the guitar so it rotates 360 degrees. Handy for taking out crap guitarists/singers in a band if they get too close. 🤣
Would you consider this a failure?
You still have all your fingers, looks like a success to me.
If the stringheight wasnt ruined maybe it would be better, but room for improvement is not a failure. Fun experiment
it's perfect
What if you put a bridge in the middle with a lever to raise and lower it?
Absolutely NOT a failure! Noooooo.

The jam with the slide whistle slaps hard.
So jazzy!
If you add more and more necks and they bend inwards, at what point does it just become a harp?
Now Michael Angelo Batio will have a bassist for his double-guitar shows. With even weirder instrument than his
Hahahah Freight Traaaaaaain yaaaaah
It sounded cool, therefore success. Run it through a ring mod!
Perfect match for Glenn Branca’s double-body harmonic guitar
I feel so sorry for any instrument that ever enters your possession.
Ahh get off your high horse lmao, Simon makes dope music with whatever he creates, or destroys
@@stevenarmstrong5364 True haha. At the end of the day that's what an instrument is for.
very much a success. also those matching pants rip
Mr drunk neighbor is a great addition to the crew. Everyone is a character. Love it.
I was shocked it worked so immediately

I feel like a tribal affinity with these gentlemen
Swedes are required to wear a band uniform under lexulvaeus.
In the wrong hands this could be very dangerous...
I was about to ask if the matching pants were planned, but then a third matching pant showed up. Yeah, definitely planned.
10:24 u can see the neck has slowly started to bend,
Also Drunk Neighbor giving a blowie to what's left of Daft Punk.
those are some snazzy pants
cool project, nice djent at the end! good job!
Fantastic bass. Have you seen John Otway play Blockbuster with his double hinged electric guitar?

You don't even need two bodies, just two bridges on one body.

You should make a touch guitar with a pickup either side, so it picks up two notes at the same time
Gamer Life Hack: Convert your bass to a microtonal scale by making the neck twice as long.
Reminds me of the guitar Solmania used when I saw him in the 1990s
I wonder what would happen if you had a nut to simulate the bridge on the body? You might be able to control it better like you did with a single string

5:50 ... that's good enough, right there... you only need one string on a bass (or a guitar!) anyway!
I think everyone in this vid is absolutely fucking blazed and that's why they're all wearing sunglasses.
look up glen branca's double body guitar
I'm sorry I kept looking at the paper.
i like the scientific approach

Forget five and string basses, just have two necks.
This makes me want to give a guitar arms...
I mean, two necks on the side.
That wouldn't be very ergonomic. Maybe an upright bass?
"A happy failure". Ah, such is life. Beautiful
i wanna see this with a bridge in the middle like a koto
Now make a 4 neck bass by enhacing a double neck bass and make a band that records all their songs on the 4 neck bass
The matching pants complete this 🤣🤣
its a success, but put in some contact mics, also really sad that ikea uk do not do really long bass strings, or short ones, or anything musical.
"What's the scale len-" "YES"
That bass sounds fucking wild!!! Love it
great video simon...just wanted to let you know that the framerate seemed wierd
Pure madness. It actually turned out pretty good though lol.
add another pickup at an odd/unsymmetrical place
1:24 😆 ....COMPLETE SUCCESS.
Rick Nielsen wants his Cheap Trick back. Actually sounded pretty guud.
I think you need a Japanese saw in the workshop! Would have been perfect for removing that neck

What even are your fashion choices
2 necks 1 bass guitar doesn’t exist, it can’t hurt you….
mr drunk neighbor is my favorite musician now
Drunk Neighbour and the Psychedelic Camo-pants...gr8 band
alternative title: More Necks, Less Legs
Jesus, that sounds amazing.!!!!!
The Double Bass mk 2 🤣
Holy fuck those strings are so long
No one puts Dakato in the corner!
now replace one of the headstocks with another body... two outputs
I just read the text on the footstool... nice one. XD
Haha. That's fun. Two headed dog fun.
i liked the video title reference....
Yas!
the last time i watched 2 "something" 1 "item" was a disaster...
Has anyone ever put a Mic in a Slide Pipe?
This one just dont make sense but what really does on this channel
I’ll take 2!.. or 4? I guess I’m not sure 🤔
A tandem bass!
Microtonal wet dream right here.
We need a part two for why the drunk guy was there
You’ve created the Cruelty Squad soundtrack
I would buy this. If it came with a Capo.
Glenn Branca would like a word with you
So many bad Ideas so little time.

Mimon the sagpie
I feel like you could turn this into a koto maybe
That's what I was thinking, maybe have like a movable bridge on the other side and could switch keys instantaneously
@@ericpurvis2262 they could probably just put a slide under strings and it would work and offer some resonance
maybe it is not a failure, try to bow it , and see how it sounds🤔
Hahaha so good!
Capo for downtuning
i think the main problem is the second neck isn't a bass neck...
YES😎
This is rediculous! 😂...😁🤙🏼
This needs to be shown to @
Davie504
he has the reach.....
Glenn Branca vibes here:
Give it to Les claypool lol
Damn I got here early
SSABASS
Will that make that brown note?🤢💩
Put spinner on guitar lol
