    When Braius (not sure how to spell Sam's character's name) sees the art left behind by Jester, he notices it and reacts. What if he was at Travelercon and hates the gods because the Traveler abandoned him

    I think Ludinus drinking his own kool-aid for so long he can't see that his plan is basically akin to making himself a god makes him a really interesting parallel to the Raven Queen. Also makes his obsession with her something that can be explored more, because I'm not sure we've really touched on that since Molaesmyr

    Of course we have to wait to see if it works out but both in the episode and in Cooldown, all your questions about the soul ancor were answered. Essek made it sound like it is possible for them to trap Delilah in the soul ancor without seperating her from Laudna in such a way that Laudna would still have her powers. In Cooldown Marisha used the arc reactor from Iron Man from the Marvel movies as an example because as far as Laudna knows, she needs to be connected to Delilah to survive.

    • @davidgolfspro

    It amazed me, with this dad-joke-heavy assembly of people, that when Essek was transformed and he continued to levitate in his new caprine form, that no one said, "Whatever floats your goat." ;)
    As always, you've given a superb synopsis of the episode!
    And, for the record: you always look amazing, but the multi-faceted shades of your hair are absolutely, wonderfully fabulous! In the meantime, though, I would ask, please, don't revert to the Fey Realm just yet--there's still a lot of campaign three to go, and having you guiding us along it is essential to my experience of it at this stage! :)

    Here’s a theory: In 4 sided dive they speculated that the boy the matron teleported out of the city could have known the plans for the factotum malleus. Through this right now asmodeus learns of that. At some point in the future, probably not this campaign, it is his play to get at these plans bc they might still somehow somewhere be out there.

  • @fireplanefirefighter
    @fireplanefirefighter Месяц назад +6

    Correct me if I'm misremembering, but didnt BH find a bunch of evidence that ludi was researching the matron's ritual?
    Kinda wild that he's trying to convince everyone that he doesnt understand the concept of a power vaccuum, and that all of his actions havent proven that he would totally take advantage of that.
    Honestly think that predathos was his plan C.
    A. The matron's ritual
    B. The mallius Factorum
    C. Predathos.
    He would never risk his own life and power by releasing something more powerful than the gods, risking becoming even lower in the foodchain, if he had not already failed endlessly at usurping a God or eradicating all of them himself.

    I think the characterization Matt is going for is more interesting than the power hungry mage. I think he's crafted Ludinus to represent a true believer, full conviction and faith in the rightness of their cause.
    Thinking of characters like Kreia from Kotor2 or the Operative from Serenity. Or what Thanos attempts to frame himself as in Infinity War.
    I think Ludinus, justifiably, sees the gods as oppressors, that will forever hold the mortal races as their playthings; and worse, to limit their potential. He sees the existance of Gods as a shackle on the world of mortals. And he's right. The gods are fickle and tempermental; their 'disagreements' destroy eras. They are not fundamental or natural to Exandia, they killed the titans that existed before. They have nanipulated history, and hidden truths, to sustain their power, and protect themselves.
    His idea to use Predathos is undeniably going to backfire. But the plan to reveal the truth of Aeor, what the gods tried to hide; I think he's absolutely right. Give people the truth, and let them decide for themselves. You don't need ancient horrors to kill the gods, just need the faithful to denounce them.

    How will binding Delilah affect Laudna's power? It won't! Downfall showed bound deamons being used to power things like engines and being servants. The binding crystal/stone would basically turn Delilah into an arcane battery for Laudna.

      1. Trapping any entity is not the same as forming a pact with them. There is usually some sort of contract or oath that makes this transaction between a warlock and a patron transactional and beneficial to both parties.
      2. Pretty much any tech that could do this was lost when Aeor fell. Otherwise they would just find a way to do the same thing to Predathos or Ludinis could have rebound dominox to his will.

  • @scott898586
    @scott898586 Месяц назад

    They have already canonically explained Laudna cannot live without Delilah. If you sever the patron from the warlock, everything stops. Laudna is a hallowed one and would cease living. Additionally Delilah can take her powers back and leave laudna just a walking corpse, or just puppet Laudna to steal the battery at a later time. Laudna attempting to remove Delilah is likely more than enough grounds to break the contract between them.

    I think Ashton saying, "No gods, just kings" was their way of saying, "Tyrants are tyrants, divine or not." They don't trust Ludinus to not be a tyrant, or Predathos for that matter either, which does give them motivation to stay in this fight regardless of their loyalty to the group.

    Overall I really liked the episode, I loved the beginning with actual discussion of each members worldview. That felt deep and meaningful, so i really appreciate it.
    I am a bit concerned about the "trapping Delilah in a poke-ball" idea. While I can see it making sense, it feels like a disservice to Delilah as a character and minimizes the amount of power she has. Maybe this ritual would instead allow Laudna to make a new pact contract with Delilah, and through that they can be a better character going forward.

    • @davidbergfors6820
      @davidbergfors6820 Месяц назад +1

      wouldn't it be poetic justice to diminish that evil lady to nothing more than a personal power source? I think both Marisha and Laura made reference to Iron-mans chest thing. I don't think the option is to reshape the contract, it's either contain or kill Delilah. personally I don't think this would be a disservice to the character, nor does it diminish her powers. to the contrary, the soul anchor they intend to use was strong enough to contain a grand deamon! that should signal the level of power we are talking about.

    Frankly I am very bored with this endless debate about wether Ludanis is right in releasing Predathos or not, if the gods should be destroyed or not. But I am of a very rare religious mind in this community, so I just have to wait it out.
    However, I must have missed something, when and where was it established that the immortal souls was something highjacked by the gods rather than created by them?
    to my understanding the gods tamed the elemental chaos of the earlier Exandria and created the mortal races, separate from the elemental beings.

      From my understanding they created the spell to restore a true form. Mechanically yes it would work but also Caleb loves Essek for who he is, all of it and Essek is still proud of who is now. He does disguise himself when he feels he needs to. Plus if I remember correctly the spell changes the attributes and traits of the person as well so to maintain his same life span Essek would pretty much still be an elf just a different color which is 😬 but also then he'd look like Ludinus who he can't stand so 🤷

      The source of a non betrayer god is manipulation and required blind devotion. If any mortal could have anything that could cause that power to be taken from them, their manipulation of the people would go away and humanity would become a threat to them again. The Dawnfather sent his worshipers to a remote area to lay waste to non-believers and to seize control of an area that had an abundance of natural magic that was there before the gods. Orym and Launda laid waste to the church with the roll20 guests and witnessed first hand that even the brightest of gods is not what people believe he is. The dawnfather even threatened Chet's ex with the life he gave her in exchange for her blind devotion and she actively rebels against him when she can. If anything I think Orym is too blinded by revenge and hatred to see that Ludinis made some valid points even if he was the pot calling the kettle black.
