Why I'm not Ordering a New

  • That's right... The Lonely Overlander has decided NOT to order a new Bronco.
With the current economic market, we're starting to see brand new Bronco's sitting on dealer lots. So it doesn't make a lot of sense to put in an order to have one built.
Messing around on the 2023 Ford Canada B&P, I discover that the Heritage 2 door Bronco, for whatever reason, is an absolute steal. It's as if you're getting the slick, painted modular hardtop for free! And it's STILL cheaper than a comparable Black Diamond build, even with the $1000 Signature Headlight option on the Heritage.
But.... And this is a big but, Ford had paused orders for the 2024 2 door Heritage edition.
I suspect it's roof related. Had Webasto messed up again?? Only time will tell.
So find out in this episode, the goings on with Bronco production and my plans to replace the Bad Mule

Good luck getting one eventually. I got lucky and my 2 dr Badlands was built last month. I now have it in my garage. I was able to trade in my 2022 Black Diamond for a good price. The 2024 Badlands has a $2k US dollar increase, so they are not getting any cheaper.

Really disappointed they discontinued the base model!!!

Right?! I mean, I probably wouldn't consider one, but for the money, that 2 door Heritage is a STEAL! Ford just won't let you order one currently. 😔

That was the one I wanted too. Oh well, Jeep Wrangler Willy's edition it is then.

I have two order reservations: 1 for the Bronco Badlands (2.7, Lux, Sas, Leather), and 1 for a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon X 4xe (with soft one touch, winch). Honestly, I have no idea which one I'm going to purchase. I guess it's based on how the strikes go. I continue getting incentives from Jeep and none from Ford. I also like the dealer that I put the reservation in for the Jeep, and not so much the one with Ford. But I like the Ford overall....Hard decision to make.

I've seen a couple heritage editions. There were 3 or 4 of them at the Bronco show I went to last month all for like $25k over msrp trying to be flipped at the show. I love the interior, but not a fan of how they did the wheels, wheel wells and the top. Looks weird to me. Just a personal taste though. My dealer has sold a few too that I checked out. Just passed 2k miles on my 2dr. It is soo much more fun than the 4dr was! I miss the space, but I wouldn't go back. Added Curt trailer hitch and the Lumen 4/7 pin wiring over the weekend. Love it, and the 2.7 with the Ford tune is great! Have a great day! Tell Lexi hi!

Thanks for the comment, Danny. Yeah, just something about that white... It's just TOO white...?
Thankfully, dealer aren't allowed to sell over MSRP here in Ontario.
2.7L in the 2 door with a tune? That thing must really haul!

Thanks for your insight. I haven’t owned a car in 10 years but am moving to Las Vegas and want a fun car. I would love a white badlands myself but the white hard top isn’t available. I feel that’s definitely a retro vibe for me. Something about the Heritage Limited that doesn’t have a tough feel for me. I did feel Black Diamond would be ideal but no Lux package and no bar separator .

Dont forget to call around and be put on lists for abandoned orders. That's how I got mine. It had everything I wanted, just not the color. Although it wanst my first, second, third or even fourth choice in color. Area 51 has grown on me.

That's a good point... Thank you.
Yeah, people bail on their orders all the time. And it may be worse now, with the rising interest rates. Just gets more and more expensive!

Never was a reservation holder but have watched the lots for broncos available and test drove many from 2.3 auto and manual and 2.7 , from that it had to be a 2.7 . After over 2 years a 4 door cactus grey heritage edition 2.7 became available at msrp and I was all in and fast . So much better in every way to what I previously looked at , The cloth interior which was a must and way better from what was in earlier models , the white mod top , awesome , mic top and soft tops I looked at , so cheap looking and problems galore , removable rear windows , awesome , so quiet inside , way too many vehicles with black wheels , blah , old school style white , oh yeah , quality control , panel gap etc in 2023 and after , night and day difference, giddy up

What you're saying is, maybe I should put an order in for a 2023 two door heritage, just to hedge my bets?
      Sounds incredible!

I'm sure with what we built the first go-around, 2.0 might be that much slicker 👍🏻

Love my 2-door Wildtrak, but taking that top off and on again is a real pain.

That's why I was originally drawn to the mod top. I knew I wouldn't be removing my entire top so it would of been cool to have those removable bits 👍🏻

Why not a used one? A low mileage with everything you had before and color seams more obtainable and for a better price than newly configured.

Yup, definitely. If the right one comes around, for sure.
There's just... Something about a brand new vehicle. ❤️

Most used ones I see aren’t really much cheaper than going new. Not worth it yet in my opinion to buy used.

@@CreepingDeath_ I agree... But dealer wholesale price is low. Saw a 2022 4 door Badlands with custom wheels go for trade in for $44k just recently. That's Canadian dollars BTW
