    You can never watch enough engine assembly videos, you can always find a tip that will help. Retorqueing before the pan goes on was a good one, thanks.

    I’m running this build on my Desk Top Dyno 5 to compare.
    Closing the intake valve ABDC 34° is creating pretty high cylinder pressure boosting Torque.
    SCR 9.52-1
    ICL 104°
    355hp @5000 rpm
    456tq @2500 rpm
    Average 284hp 391tq
    ICL 108°
    360hp @5000 rpm
    448tq @2500 rpm
    Average 287hp 392tq
    Simulation environment:
    80 F, 50% humidity and 1000’ altitude
    Average: 2000-6000 rpm

      Thanks for doing this for us Headflow. The IVCP @ .006" is 56 degrees ABDC. Our revised compression number is 10.1:1. Can you run it again and see what you get with these numbers please?
      Thanks always for your input and support for my channel. AG

    SCR calculation w/ 64cc head.
    Cylinders 8
    Bore 4.004”
    Stroke 3.48”
    Head 64cc
    Valve relief cc 6.6cc
    Head Gasket .039”
    Fire ring 4.100”
    Deck height .025” (Below)
    SCR 9.53-1
    *** I adjusted the fire ring to 4.100” but it could be 4.125” on the Felpro Perma-torq gaskets.

      Thanks HeadFlow, we are using a steel head gasket, .015” I think.

    • @HeadFlowInc
      @HeadFlowInc Год назад

      @@goldsgarage8236ou’ll need to do something to account for the pistons being .025” below deck if you want 10.0-1 compression. Yes a .015” head gasket can get it up to +- 10.09-1; But it’s not worth spending much money on because 1.66% difference in HP/TQ isn’t much.

  • @HeadFlowInc
    @HeadFlowInc Год назад +1

    A full number of compression ie 9.0-1 to 10.0-1 only account for +- 3-4% HP/TQ
    If we adjust the SCR from 9.52-1 to 10.0-1 or +-1.92%
    In your example 1.66% change.
    Adjusted SCR 10.0-1

    Very Good engine Assembly tips.....Something I do at This Assembly stage is to Carefully measure & Record crankshaft Only rotation Break-away FtLb Torque & Compare to Carefully installed #1 Piston & Rod Total crankshaft Rotation torque Increase.....Each Additional installed Piston & Rod assembly should Add identical Same FtLb crankshaft Rotation torque Incremental Increase as Each is Assembled if Rings installed Good Without hidden cracks.....

      Also a good idea. I always rotate the crank after each piston but I don't usually measure torque after every piston. Attention to detail. AG

    1-1/4 hex socket will turn that crankshaft a little cheaper

    Rebuilding my l31 vortec but putting a carb and intake on with aluminum heads. Block is in good enough shape to stay with stock bore and rotating assembly with a quick dingle ball hone. But im kinda wanting to swap pistons out for some flat tops. Would I be ok without doing a complete rebalance with new pistons? If so ill probably just stick with stock D dish pistons but if it'll be ok without a balance ill change pistons, maybe add 150 shot then

    • @goldsgarage8236
      @goldsgarage8236  Год назад +2

      Thanks JJ. If you have a gram scale you might compare the weight of the new pistons compared to the original ones. Unless there is a big difference or you will be operating at high RPM for and extended period, I wouldn't think you need to rebalance. AG
