I think that Liszt shows us in the first part his dramatic face and in the middle and final parts his romantic face. I love this orchestra and its conductor Dima Sloboudenik, russian by birth. Thanks you all for this excellent version!
Estoy aquí por Dan Brown y quedé fascinada 👌

Lean a Dante
¿Qué dice Dan Brown sobre esta obra?
Very, very BEAUTIFUL Muzic CLASICA ȘI IMAGINE SUPERBĂ! O"MEGA ORHESTRA SUPER FULL MUZIC ", BRAVISIMO, FELICITĂRI...!
Dante was one of the great inspirers of the romantics. Liszt had already comosed a "fantasy sontata" in the "Years of pilgrimage" which counted among the mots noticeable pieces of the collection. Now, he signs one of his greatest orchestral pieces, challenged in his production only by another romantic "best-seller", Faust. The orchestration is outstanding. How did this pianist learn to write so well for the orchestra? Only Berlioz and Wagner can challenge him. In addition, the work is excellent. It is rather long, but we never get tired of the music.
The Sinfonica dde Galicia is inded an excellent orchestra.
13:30 i love how this part shows that part of hell wich is ony sorrow and grief. Not only torture, hate and chaos, but sadness, a deep and helpless misery. The Devil is te sadest person on the universe, and altough we tend to feel pity for those who are sad and think they´re good persons there is a lot of grief in hell, wich indicates that Sadness is another form of evil. Assassins are sad, because they ve killed their own humanity, but none is repenting in hell, so its a kind of sadness that comes with remorse and ends in despair. Thats why Envy is also called by theologians as a form of sadness by others fortune, because it is evil. Not all tears are a evil, says Gandalf, but also not all are good.
are you on acid?
19:21 it's so epic😭😭
I think this is the best symphony in history!
It's wild and uncontrollable but at the same time it's interesting, stylish and powerful!
In this symphony you will see the Hell and you will see the Heaven!
You will see the Devil and you will see God!
Tchaikovsky 6 still tops it for me
Amo essa sinfonia!!! I love this symphony, for me it`s the best
An excellent performance of a truly beautiful symphony. The orchestra never disappoints. They are really worth having a new hall. Imagine how beautiful it would be if the women's chorus could have been on stage as well!
Liszt had such a unique and wild musical imagination. Wonderful performance and video!
Chris Ridenhour I wonder why so few persons talk about Liszt pieces outside the piano, i love this just as much
I know how important is when some artists deny to work on a theme for feeling inadequate to do it, but i would love to hear a Heaven part of this song, unfortunately Wagner adviced the oposite to Liszt. But to be true, inadequate we all are when it comes to representing such transcedental themes, this, however, is no reason to kill theology nor any other human way of investigation and contemplation of life. Altough we are small before the world, and infinitely smaller before God, the more we put effort into knowing and representing them, the wiser we get, and our desires become much more sublime and strong.
BRAVO Dima and Sinfónica de Galicia! - An excellent rendition of Liszt's masterpiece.
Encantadora, me transportei a um momento de liberdade, uma composição inspirada na descida de Dante ao Inferno que me trouxe suavidade e paz.
❤
Gracias
Beautiful performance! The Inferno was played especially brilliantly, but the whole symphony sounded majestic. Thank you for sharing!
Great to have something "new" on RUclips classical music offerings. Thanks!
This Symphony is something Glorious!
Bravo! A new favorite by a great Symphony which I must go and see in person someday! Bravo
Magnífico! !!!!
Listening to this piece while i read the last chapter of Dan Browns Inferno
You should read "Liszt's Dante Symphony" a thriller by Rich DiSilvio
FANTASTICO!
Especially great 2nd movement.
WONDERFUL MUSIC AND ORCHESTRA
Wow. Excellent
The Magnificat at the end could have adopted a better distribution of pace. For example, the clarinet and the chorus could have been slower. They would have depicted more emotion in it, instead of being too mechanical.
Fantastic!
Sublime!!!!!
Heh. Song finishes, audience just sits there... (For a couple seconds)
"Don't just sit there, applaud!"
Thomas Halsted Also, why such a small audience?
Thomas, I suspect you've never been to a symphony concert (that's an observation, not a criticism). If the audience pauses before applauding, that's a sign of great appreciation of a really good performance, of not wanting to destroy the mood. if applause starts to soon, it can really destroy what the performance has achieved. (Not that I'm saying this is necessarily a great performance - haven't listened yet. Actually, although enjoyable this is not really a great work, Liszt was a great composer, but never really mastered longer musical structures.)
@@bryangl1 well, let's not pass judgment with such a broad statement. :) "Mastering longer musical structures" is a rather subjective category to begin with, but even if we go with it: the academic consensus regards Liszt's Sonata in b-minor as the greatest contribution to sonata form in the Romantic Era. Many of Liszt's works which are considered masterpieces are rather substantial (The Faust Symphony, Christus, the Sonata, Via Crucis, the concertante works, a couple of the symphonic poems etc), but even his best operatic fantasies approach the 20 minute mark. As for the Dante Symphony not being a great work - again this seems to me a subjective point. It has countless revolutionary passages in terms of both orchestration, harmony and rhythm: bass clarinet solos, a twelve-tone subject, whole-tone progressions, a waltz in 7/4 - all either very rare or unheard of at the time. It is so rich in novel ideas that one could write a book about it - this coupled together with the fact that (for me) it is great to listen to makes it (for me) a great work.
@@gergelykiss There is never universality in musical criticism, but it is a widespread opinion by musicologists that Liszt's handling of longer musical structures was generally flawed. That doesn't make them unenjoyable; like you, I enjoy the works you mention. He may have been inventive in various ways, but that doesn't have any connection with structure. Further, symphonic poems and operatic fantasies (yes, most enjoyable) are far from being major structured musical forms. The great B min sonata is probably his greatest achievement in structured forms (as well as being a great, exciting and enjoyable work irrespective of the merits or otherwise as to structure). The simple fact that works of symphonic form or similar comprising such a small portion of his output suggests he may not have been entirely comfortable with such musical structures, supported (although not confirmed) by the fact none have ever become regular repertoire for symphony orchestras. This work here seems to be rather episodic and more an extended tone poem than a true symphony (a parallel, perhaps, to Tchaikovsky's 'Manfred').
@@bryangl1 I don't think the perceived lack of "structure" as you (and many others) put it is a flaw. I don't think it is a mistake or an oversight - it is quite obviously a feature. (A feature that many may dislike of course.) Liszt put it down in his writings on the state of music that he considered the structures of Viennese classicism remnants of the past - he was trying to create something new, he even has a quote that goes something like "new wine requires new bottles" (paraphrasing Jesus I guess). I don't think it is a matter of his "not being comfortable with such musical structures" - rather it is a declared goal to do something different. His widely appreciated 4-in-1 design of the Sonata is not unique in his output, he does something similar in the two concertos and elsewhere (and I believe he got the inspiration for it from Schubert's Wanderer-fantasy). But apart from those, his Orpheus is equally brilliant as it grows organically without any constraints of predetermined sections - it is completely different from his Sonata and also from anything else. The large piano works of the Années and the symphonic poems each have a different, unique form - and I'm fairly sure it's not because Liszt tried and simply couldn't write in sonata form. It's not that hard, dozens upon dozens of forgotten 19th-century composers managed to do it. Now, it is another question whether one prefers a more conventional large scale sonata form or an "episodic" work or an idiosynchratic construction - in the 19th century some influential conservative critics started a very persistent tradition that the first one is intrinsically better than the others. For me personally it doesn't matter at all - both can be equally fantastic or dull. Oh, and my list of innovative features in the Dante Symphony was not meant as a comment on structure (I don't believe I implied that in any way), it was a mere reflection on your declaration of it being a "not great work" - for me greatness has many facets and radical innovation combined with an highly enjoyable 50 minutes goes a long way to qualify for it. :)
The Peddler: Long have we awaited this day...
Welcome home... My Prince!
BRAVISSIMI!
buen registro
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Sublime
Ma Liszt-napot tartok. Számomra ő a legnagyobb magyar zeneszerző minden időkben. Utána jön Bartók.
20:42 inferno's final🔥
No member of the orchestra has an easy job in this symphony!
It is a very hard piece to come off. The conductor and orchestra did a wonderful job!
The big orchestras and famous conductors shy away. Well performed!
🐢👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

OMG!
Why wasn't the full chorus on stage?
I was also wondering "Where is the choir?"
I know it's an old comment, but liszt wanted it to be like that

Dedicated to Wagner.
"Despues de Bach, Liszt resulta insoportable": Emile Cioran.
Tú por lo menos eres rockero...

Beethoven would have loved this Symphony. When Liszt met Beethoven in 1823, Beethoven said "Go! You are one of the fortunate ones! For you will give joy and happiness to many other people! There is nothing better or finer!" Liszt met his idol 😊

2:16 and 2:41 strange buzzing noise in left channel???
Horn in F, stopped (or "gestopft" in German). Wonderfully audible. One of many details that makes this performance and its recording excellent.
great video great audio. this music is not my cup of tea, however
Why? The music is excellent, varied and well orchestrated. Is it a problem with the romantic style?
