I do agree with your economic standpoint, however the capabilities of Russia and China could be far more impressive if perceived correctly. Note that NATO has for a long time been the aggressor in the world, sparking turmoil under the cover of peace. China and Russia's tactical advantage lies in their understanding, that in a war with NATO, they will be on the defensive. They have poured a large portion of their budget (which is just an estimate as they don't release their budgets to the public in some instances) into defensive weapons or mobility within their forces. Missiles that can take out carriers, submarines that could cripple supply lines (mostly China) tanks meant to fight in open areas like the plains of Russia, or advanced SAMs that haven't seen extensive use and could very well be extremely deadly. They are also making their forces more mobile, allowing for greater counter offensives or shifting fronts to a greater degree. They both realize that if they want to win, they'll have to pummel NATO into submission, not by launching huge attacks on NATO territory. You could say Russia's seizure of Crimea is to gain another defensive strong point that would control the Black Sea. Perhaps I'm wrong, but it's still food for thought.

Beginning with an excessive amount of political corruption. Now the people have decided to overthrow this government in favor of a inexperienced group of "so called" leaders. But this could be a beginning of something better if outside government can keep there hands off. This includes Russia. Not just the West. As long as we have Russian policy agitating and instigating the eastern regions to cause unrest and because Russia has fear Ukraine will join NATO. Russia will do all that they can to destroy Ukraine as a country. Crimea is the best example. Putin is not the hero. Russian people view Putin as some great leader. This is not the case. The A-10s ARE BEING taken out of service; they haven't been in production since the mid 80s. the 340 were upgraded recently to the C model which is far more survivable against a modern opponent, and Obama wants them out of service, but it will take at least a year. Several Replicans, led by sen. McCain, are fighting him on this, as well as taking the other 200 planes out of service he wants. The only warplanes in production in the US (for the US market) are the FA-18E/F and the lousy F-35. F-15s and 16s are still sold to other countries. We couldn't put 9 carriers to sea if we were in the middle of WW3. At least two or 3 are always in overhaul, others have just gong thru standard maintenance and airiwings are in training. You need to check on how the Navy works. In 91, we had 5 Carriers in combat in the gulf war, while another one landed marines in a combat op in Liberia to rescue Americans and others trying to escape a civil war. The others were mostly in port for one reason or another, and we had 12 in service. We don't even have enough air wings to equip them all. And the amount you get for the us defense budget sounds like it comes from democratic HQ. It's not nearly htat great, less than 18% of the fed budget. That's my point, this misinformation the left puts out has so many people convinced of nonsense that is so easy to discredit.

The FA-18e/f super hornet ws the last AC we used multi yr contracting on (last I checked), and it's the reason it is so affordable and such a stable price. If you cut the amount of something you buy in half, it will almost double the price. That's a bit simplified and it varies alot, but it's why the 21 B-2s we bought cost a billion a piece, and why the F-22 was so expensive and we got so few for so much. There's always more to it than that, but that is the basic rule that follows military aquisition, and anything else that is produced. A Toyota Pickup would cost a 150 grand if only 500 a yr were built.
Yeah, You have to use a bsness approach when buying weapons systems like you do in any other acquisition of any industrial product. The B-2 cost is absurd, but they were gonna get 100 of those things that wold spread out the development costs and increase efficiency. This avoidance of multi yr contracts and constantly reducing the numbers is deliberate on the part of the people in charge now, as the destruction of the US military has been THE holy grail of that political party's leadership since 72 (I dunno if you can research George McGovern's military policy if he got elected, but it was even more insane than Obama's). The F-35 is the perfect example of this. And the idea of making ONE plane do everything is idiotic. Commonality is one thing, but making the same airframe also be able to be turned into a VSTOL fighter is insane. This is the result of "economy" being the primary priority: it has the opposite effect. На каждый самолет в мире по 1 ракете - это точно! Крылатые ракеты - тоже сбиваются на ура. Танками страшно - так как лучшие противотанковые вертолеты у России. А пехотой самоубийство... Защищаться от нападения России еще сложнее... Он не будет поднимать самолеты на штурм или посылать бомберы... Она просто закидает ракетами дальнего радиуса действия типа Искандеров, а места дислокации военных зальет "градом" с последующей мотопехотной зачисткой. I do agree with your economic standpoint, however the capabilities of Russia and China could be far more impressive if perceived correctly. Note that NATO has for a long time been the aggressor in the world, sparking turmoil under the cover of peace. China and Russia's tactical advantage lies in their understanding, that in a war with NATO, they will be on the defensive. They have poured a large portion of their budget (which is just an estimate as they don't release their budgets to the public in some instances) into defensive weapons or mobility within their forces. Missiles that can take out carriers, submarines that could cripple supply lines (mostly China) tanks meant to fight in open areas like the plains of Russia, or advanced SAMs that haven't seen extensive use and could very well be extremely deadly. They are also making their forces more mobile, allowing for greater counter offensives or shifting fronts to a greater degree. They both realize that if they want to win, they'll have to pummel NATO into submission, not by launching huge attacks on NATO territory. You could say Russia's seizure of Crimea is to gain another defensive strong point that would control the Black Sea. Perhaps I'm wrong, but it's still food for thought.

The A-10s ARE BEING taken out of service; they haven't been in production since the mid 80s. the 340 were upgraded recently to the C model which is far more survivable against a modern opponent, and Obama wants them out of service, but it will take at least a year. Several Replicans, led by sen. McCain, are fighting him on this, as well as taking the other 200 planes out of service he wants. The only warplanes in production in the US (for the US market) are the FA-18E/F and the lousy F-35. F-15s and 16s are still sold to other countries.
We couldn't put 9 carriers to sea if we were in the middle of WW3. At least two or 3 are always in overhaul, others have just gong thru standard maintenance and airiwings are in training. You need to check on how the Navy works. In 91, we had 5 Carriers in combat in the gulf war, while another one landed marines in a combat op in Liberia to rescue Americans and others trying to escape a civil war. The others were mostly in port for one reason or another, and we had 12 in service. We don't even have enough air wings to equip them all. And the amount you get for the us defense budget sounds like it comes from democratic HQ. It's not nearly htat great, less than 18% of the fed budget. That's my point, this misinformation the left puts out has so many people convinced of nonsense that is so easy to discredit.

Thts why we got so many F-14,15,16,18s, A-10s, AH-64s, M-1s, artillery etc, for such stable prices. The more you builf of something and the higher the production rate, the cheaper and more stable the cost. Unlike the F-35 and almost every thing else we get now. The FA-18e/f super hornet ws the last AC we used multi yr contracting on (last I checked), and it's the reason it is so affordable and such a stable price. If you cut the amount of something you buy in half, it will almost double the price. That's a bit simplified and it varies alot, but it's why the 21 B-2s we bought cost a billion a piece, and why the F-22 was so expensive and we got so few for so much. There's always more to it than that, but that is the basic rule that follows military aquisition, and anything else that is produced. A Toyota Pickup would cost a 150 grand if only 500 a yr were built.
Yeah, You have to use a bsness approach when buying weapons systems like you do in any other acquisition of any industrial product. The B-2 cost is absurd, but they were gonna get 100 of those things that wold spread out the development costs and increase efficiency. This avoidance of multi yr contracts and constantly reducing the numbers is deliberate on the part of the people in charge now, as the destruction of the US military has been THE holy grail of that political party's leadership since 72 (I dunno if you can research George McGovern's military policy if he got elected, but it was even more insane than Obama's). The F-35 is the perfect example of this. And the idea of making ONE plane do everything is idiotic. Commonality is one thing, but making the same airframe also be able to be turned into a VSTOL fighter is insane. This is the result of "economy" being the primary priority: it has the opposite effect. Would help if the people doing this crap knew a bit about the subject matter and would listen to the guys with wings and ribbons on their chests.

Плюс у России традиционно очень сильные сухопутники и спец. войска.
Ну вот как против России воевать? Самолетами разбомбить не получится, ракет для с-125, с300 и с400 у нас десятки тысяч. На каждый самолет в мире по 1 ракете - это точно!
