As a long-term (17-year) user of amphetamines who started in my teens, they don't turn you into a mindless zombie like some horror movie villain. They can increase paranoia, aggression & mood swings but unless you already have a tendency toward those issues and are using an excessively high dose, it ain't happening. Own your behavior. If you believe a substance is "making" you violent or depressed, that's a huge clue that you need to cut back or stop. Alcohol is that drug for me & I haven't touched it since 2003.

What we didn't see in all his media videos is just how the narcissist sociopath entices, manipulates, cons, and exploits their way into peoples lives and relationships with those around them. Because they certainly don't show the side of themselves we saw during his trial until much later. Usually when someone either recognizes their toxicity and chooses to sever the relationship, or when the narcissist or sociopath is desperately trying to prevent being exposed. All aspects of their cold hearted, soulless, evil.

      Yes. I found it humorous that he started by saying that he would have about 30 people wanting to speak on his behalf. Then when they time comes, he has three. Barely. And of the three, only one of them really made any sort of plea that was remotely an attempt to speak out for Darrell. His mother tried to play a victim card and his "grandmother" (my understanding that it was not his actual grandmother) decided to use the time for self-promotion. Not that any of that would have mattered in the end. There was nothing they could have said that was going to stop him from spending the rest of his life in prison. And the amount of time he got would mean that his bones would turn to dust before he ever served his full sentence.

    Given the type of personality Brooks has, there is a very high chance he didn't use meth. His type of personality would have seen the chance to be in a documentary as a form of fame seeking. These personality types commonly exadgerate or lie about themselves to build up their past to impress others or to fabricate excuses for their past behaviors.
    My brother had the exact same personality disorders as Brooks. The argument patterns he used in the trial were a mirror of what my brother was like, and he was always exadgerating or lying either to impress new people or as excuses for why he had done something. It's always someone or something else's fault, not theirs.

      Absolutely. One of the characteristics that is common among them is pathological lying. If they are drug users it is a personal choice. Not an issue driven by the personality disorder they suffer. The narcissist and especially sociopath do not have the emotional struggles that are associated with self reflection because they are not able to self reflect. So they don't see themselves as being the problem. Other people are. Most drug users are looking for escape from the emotional pain of life.

    • @allisonjames2923
      @allisonjames2923 Год назад +1

      To be fair, very few career criminals commit violent acts of this magnitude. While it is very likely that a violent psychopath like him would have murdered one of his exes, most likely Erica Patterson, and may have been enticed into shooting up a nightclub or something because he is a violent psychopath with no conscience, only showing emotion when something directly affects him, there are a lot of psychopaths but few commit mass murder. If you look at people who are heads of big businesses, CEO’s etc, there are actually a lot of psychopaths & sociopaths among them. Donald Dump is one. He has absolutely no conscience whatsoever regarding all the crimes he’s committed, nor all the lies he’s told, nor the multiple lives he’s ruined over the decades. He only cares about his ego. He may well have had people killed, particularly after becoming POTUS, & he doesn’t care that people died during the insurrection on Jan 6th, nor that he’s trying to start a civil war on his own behalf but he’s not likely to ever actually take out a gun & kill people himself.
      “Psychopathy is more common than most people realize. People with psychopathic traits show less empathy and remorse than other people. They may lie, cheat, and steal, but they may also be friendly, smart, and basically unremarkable. In other words, impossible to pick out of a crowd.
      Although severe psychopathy affects just about 1% of people, some research suggests that close to 30% of us have some level of psychopathic traits. And we may even know people who fall under this broad umbrella. “

And he was only diagnosed with “Anti Social Personality Disorder” which is basically the modern term for being a clinical psychopath, on the background of a conduct disorder when young, which I believe is Oppositional Defiance Disorder. He has definitely used Meth & was imprisoned for it at some stage, but that’s not why he did what he did. I don’t know if he intended it when he drove into the parade route, particularly since he avoided the first few people, but then he deliberately chose in that moment to hurt people just before he accelerated & drove at people.

    Watching this....takes me back to thanksgiving week 2021. My brother was hospitalized the Tuesday prior to thanksgiving. He was 52 years old and a known junkie that had been doing meth, heroin and anything he could get his hands on by the time he was in his 40s. At 40, he had a quadruple bypass due to damage to his heart from meth. Long story short, by this last hospitalization at thanksgiving, he had a procedure done, left the hospital, went to his drug dealers house and then to his junkie girlfriends house and used. About to years prior, he has a pacemaker/defibrillator placed in him. So, this particular week when he used, his defibrillator started shocking him because his heart had given out and the drug use was now too much. So he drove himself to the hospital and I received a call from his nurse letting me know he was there and to let the family know what was going on but he wouldn’t be leaving the hospital this time alive. He was place on end of life protocol and they stabilized him. Thanksgiving night, he started getting dope sick (we learned this after his death) but called the junkie girlfriend at 2am and told her what to bring. When my mom and I walked in at 730am, he was the same old junkie, paranoid, screaming at everyone. She brought a syringe of meth to ICU and shot it in his hospital IV. He went from stable to having ventricular tachycardia and then he would get shocked. It was violent. He was violent, his death was violent. His heart was shot out from all the drugs. He went thru this cycle of v-tack/shock for about another 32 hours before he had them turn off the pacemaker with a magnet. He immediately went from talking to dead in about 2 minutes and it was brutal to watch. The addiction specialists words here brought me back to that moment with my brothers behavior. Please folks, just stay away from the drugs. Those that do are gambling with their life and it goes far beyond just their life. He’s dead and we’re left to deal with all the trauma. Please just say no to drugs.

      I saw it during the trial, not in the courtroom but a channel still has it up

    What we saw in this trial was a full blown narcissistic on display for the world to see. It's kinda rare to witness this behavior live especially how his narcissism was 100% turned ON every day.

      Actually you're incorrect. He was clearly showing signs of antisocial personality disorder which was confirmed by the judge when she did her closing remarks. They have some overlapping Aries but narcissists actually care about what other people think while antisocial personality disorder patients just want to recavic and create chaos they don't really care what other people think

    I wonder if this 20 year old Darrell would have seen a video of what 40 year old Darrell would become, acting a complete fool at court, what 20 year old Darrell would have thought.
    Would it have scared him straight, or not. Would he have been shocked and disgusted at himself, or applauding.
    Kind of like that movie, A Christmas Carol, where the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future show the old dude what a jack*ss he is (and in that case, it changes him).
