There are still Chinese architects and other foreign contractors though, and Egypt has taken loans from China to fund the new capital but other then that hopefully all will be well

My biggest worry is where will they get all the water needed for this city? the Nile is already overextended as it is. I know they are building many desalination plants but water from these plants isn't really fit for human consumption although it can be very useful in irrigating the large parks and greenery. But this is different. This is in the heart of one of history's great civilisations with >100 million people and will transform Egypt's economy and the lives of its people. My biggest worry is where will they get all the water needed for this city? the Nile is already overextended as it is. I know they are building many desalination plants but water from these plants isn't really fit for human consumption although it can be very useful in irrigating the large parks and greenery. I wish the best for everyone there and hopefully things will work out well
