I was like "hey Toby Mac can relate" and the song just made me feel better about my Son being able to get up when he falls. i may have skipped over this song till i read the news today and that this song was sorta written with your son in mind.
i love every single song i have ever heard you sing and i'm not a religious type of person. the music is just great. loving, and inspirational.
many of your songs have driven me to tears because the lyrics are so powerful.
but this one hits hard.
i wish i knew what to say although nothing anyone can say will ease the pain of today.
even though we've never met and you have no idea who i am, i love you and hope you can find some way to make it thru the day and the days to follow.

I'm 53 years old and I can tell you that I am so blessed but Scars do come from living. Regardless of race, money, fame EVERYONE goes through some type of pain and setbacks. Hey TobyMac sorry about Truett. I had a brother who died from cancer. About 7 or 8 months later my Mom had me and I understand how sad it was for you because one time I had a dream that he came back to earth and when I woke up I cried because I remembered he was dead. Anyway I wanted to tell you I've been starting to listen to your songs everyday [ literally everyday ] and I always sing them in my ind in class. My favorite song of all is speak life.

I am so sorry for TobyMac’s great loss of his eldest son Truett. This is a beautiful song and I know he wrote it with Truett in mind. My prayers go with you Kevin as you travel home to grieve with your family. Blessings and thanks for an amazing concert just last Friday here in Ottawa.

This was your son’s allotted time on earth - shorter I’m sore than you would have liked, but who are we to question God’s plan. From what you say, he lived every day to the fullest and brought much joy to you and those he encountered. Like ALL of us, he was flawed, broken and had many scars, but he was loved by God and is with Him now. Your loss is great I know but Heaven’s gain is so much bigger than your loss.

I felt toby’s heart when I heard “Elements” and “scars” when the album was released. I perceived that maybe something strange was going on in his family, his lirics and his album cover tells all is winter in toby’s life now, (meaning hard times),
I can’t imagine losing my son, maybe I felt his heart because I am a father too. 😥, May the lord comfort you in these difficult times Toby.
Its been about 4 years now since he released this and im still playing this on repeat, getting chills. This is so inspirational, and helps me get through my tough times especially as a highschool student.

This song reminds me of my friend, Doug. In high school he was a strong Christian, and was one of the reasons I surrendered my life to Christ. Now that we reconnected after 4 years of silence, I learned he’s living as a woman , and is an avowed atheist.
I met up with him a few months ago; he says he’s doing well, but in all honesty, I don’t believe him. He seemed very sad.
Please pray for him, my brothers and sisters. My heart breaks for him, and I haven’t heard from him since.

I couldn't get enough this song and I really didn't know why... a month later on valentines day 2019 my dad died. He was a struggling alcoholic, he was trying to quit drinking for me and my siblings, so we could have a relationship. The withdrawals were too much, he went into cardiac arrest and died. We had the best relationship the last 2 years of his life and I'm thankful for that. I know god had a plan and knew this song was gonna help me through it and it did. I cried and played this song over and over. Such a inspiring song and my favorite, it'll always make me think of him. I didn't even know it was for your son, such a testament of your faith in God. I am so sorry for your loss, nothing compares to the pain of losing our loved ones.

Amen Judah! There's no difference on what race, gender, and age you are or view on the world. This world will leave scars from the most wealthiest to the poorest. From the most popular to the most unpopular. It's not like the world has favorites, everyone will experience or has experienced some scars here on Earth and there's nothing to change that... it's life. It's like, even if we believe in God and trust he will help us get through things doesn't mean it will be smooth riding ahead. We have our scars too. Even if the way of God is difficult, we should still believe he is in control, and in time, our battles will be over when God decides.
