She was 27 when she ODed. Almost became a part of the 27-Club.
Her OD happened almost 3 years ago (July 2018) and she’s 28 now so she was actually 25! But her friend did mention that she made it past the 27 club in her documentary.

The commenters who said she was 25 when the major OD happened are correct. But even after almost dying, she relapsed at 26 and at 27, if you can believe it!
5:55 was her dealer who assaulted and left her for death. He then in the morning and made a joke to tmz if I'm correct if not you can tell me.. but he is imo not a good guy.
12:33 was her little sister Madison (made a song for her called ICU (Madison's lullabye) but Madison was there when Demi woke up but she couldn't see or hear that it was Madison, very heartbreaking

You're correct about the piece of shit dealer. But she could hear madison but because of the blindness and coma she doesn't realize it was her atleast from what I watched with the docuseries, I could be wrong tho! It's fucked up the dealer hasn't been charged tho for rape and dealing..
@@stephanieann6622 You are correct- her dealer sexually assaulted her and left her for dead. In the hospital, she had strokes, a heart attack, blood clots, has permanent vision, brain , and hearing damage. I'm assuming kidney failure since in the beginning those tubes hooked to her neck and the machine is a type of dialysis called CRRT- (Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy), which is for those patients who are SEVERELY ill.
The part where she says "almost made it to heaven", like you said she had a near death experiences, when her OD happened she was pretty much dead and left for dead by her drug dealer, but she thankfully did survive, even her medics said that she should be dead rn, but she somehow survived, it really just shows how she wasn't meant to die that die
Yeah, she said that if they found her like 5-10 minutes later, she’d be dead. She had strokes, heart attacks? I know she said that it demaged her brain permanently… probably not that much but still. It’s very raw… I am really glad that this song&music video exist

12:31 she was blind when she woke up from the od and couldn’t recognize her sister that was right in front of her, she now has a song called ICU and it’s dedicated to her.
you can see in the music video a man turning her to the side to make it look like she was just sleeping, that was her drug dealer who sexually assaulted her and then left her for dead
i really recommend watching her documentary called the same as her song

Imagine the absolute bravery that it took to re-create this is exact situation and almost completely re-live it! A quick FYI besides all that you’ve heard, that survivor tattoo is right over the place in her neck where you saw the tube entering in the video. She had to be given so much blood so quickly that they had to actually use that artery in her neck to pump blood through her and pump it out. She ended up with almost a total blood replacement In entire body. Makes the spot of the tattoo even more special. The worst part of this video to watch for me is watching her drug dealer roll or over in the bed like she was sleeping and then left her for dead. And this was after he had assaulted her. It blows my mind to think that people can have that sort of cruelty exist within them and in the world!

Towards the end of the video when she hits the chorus again when she says she's dancing with the devil she kind of comes off the bed and she's singing with so much force but what they've said is behind the scenes she's not actually even lip syncing she's just screaming bloody murder that she had gotten to lip syncing that point of the song and completely lost it she co-directed it and decided to just keep it and to go off the script that they had and to do what felt natural to her. A lot of people were worried but apparently she said it was cathartic
The outfit is the exact same outfit she wore the night she overdosed, down to the hair and make up. (If you want her documentary, there are pics and videos of that night that almost killed her). The shirt says "Legalize Cannabis/Marijuhana"...not sure which one it is, but that's what it says.
The live performance of Anyone makes me tear up everytime. You can see how much strength it takes for her to sing it.

She’s a songwriter too” YES THANK YOU! people need to recognize demi’s talent to write songs too, she’s actually a really good songwriter, her first two record she had to wrote almost all by herself cause Disney and her label didn’t wanted to pay for songwriters and big producers, and she killed it! But also probably because of her old team she actually has a lot of insecurities about her songwriting what sounds insane cause she can do so many metaphors and allusions in her lyrics in a really fantastic way!! Also you asked who that girl was representing in the music video, it was her sister, the first one that she heard when she woke up at the hospital, she woke up blind and couldn’t see anything and asked who was there, and when she knew it was her little sister she went really emotional cause her sister was the motive that she decides to stay sober in the first time she went to rehab! Btw she wrote the song “ICU” to her sister doing reference to this moments when she woke up at the ICU and couldn’t see her! part of the lyric say “I was blind but now I see clearly, i see you” fucking talent
Watch her documentary! It explains a lot! But, she really almost died in 2018 during her overdose. I’m pretty sure that’s what she’s talking about here. And the person she hugs- you guys were asking who it was. I’m pretty sure it’s her mama

I saw this on another reaction video, but apparently where you see her family in the video that was raw footage. The director asked if it was too much, reportedly demi said no, they need to see what the families go through and what could or would happen if you choose to take the dance.

The girl beside in the hospital is her little sister and the one in the black shirt is her mom :) her sister was the first one there when she woke up, and they discovered Demi didn't have her full vision anymore. Her sister was talking to her and Demi said "Who is that?" It was a very heartbreaking moment for them.

Please watch her recent live performances of DANCING WITH THE DEVIL and you will see that she can actually sing that part live really well. Nice reaction though! :)

The reason why she's so good at bringing back emotions cuz she was an actress when she was 7 years old she was on Disney Channel a lot she was in Barney she was acting a lot so that's why she can convey emotions so well and because most of the things she sings about or true stories she writes Oliver lyrics and sings all of them amazing because she has such an amazing voice and such an emotional voice but also she can convey the acting part of it because she was actor

I appreciated you calling out sugar when he talked about not being born with addiction gene.
Part of the problem is conscious/unconscious us and them thinking. Those people who are addicts. And I'm not. As a result, many folks separate alcohol and drugs from other addictions like sugar, caffeine, nicotine, sex, gambling, etc. (Fun fact: most addictive drug is nicotine - interesting no? Imagine being called an addict because you smoke the most addictive drug. And then, being treated as such- being stigmatized....)
And yes, she's English/Irish & Latina (Mexican/Spanish/ Native American) and writes songs.... no one chooses to be an addict or to have demons- happiness is not guaranteed. And unfortunately, despite money myth- money cannot make you happy. And, even though, some addictions are more acceptable than others- working out for endorphin release, California sober- smoking weed cuz it's legal, etc. - they are coping mechanisms....
Her drug dealer that she brought drugs from assaulted her, as she overdosed. And she has been raped in her history. She spoke up, but they didn't do anything about it.
And I agree her vocals are top-notch, real, drenched in pain and resilience- she really has an impactful voice....
As someone who is in recovery & a sexual abuse survivor, this song hits me extremely hard! It’s a miracle that I’m alive as well & I’m grateful every single day that I am. I’m glad that Demi is doing better now too! She’s incredibly talented! It would have been a major loss for the world for her to die so young! Wishing her the best! ❤
