Thank you , I have being trying to get my way around the gr3 X and really appreciate the way you explain the settings , your videos have helped a great deal.
Nice shots! I wonder if i have to turn off the auto shake reduction in the settings. IT seems you left the function on but i always thought you have to turn it off in case of panning shots? Cheers
Also sorry to ask this, but is there a reason between choosing manual focus or AF for this preset? I guess AF would try to grab a subject closest to you instead of the center of the frame.
Don’t be sorry. We are here to discuss and help each other! I think both will work. But when the shutter speed is so slow the aperture will probably be smaller than f8 so manual focus will work, too. This removes one extra thing to worry about. :)
The fact that nothing is in focus in that shot of the lady walking near the river breaks a long held, ironclad, and occasionally overt law held by many photographers and it just goes to show that focus is overrated. That photo is a real achievement in my mind.
Thanks for the comment. I feel photography can be many things. Sharp focus is not needed in every shot. Hence the title of the preset. I hope that people get to understand the power that presets have!
One in four images a keeper? I like those numbers. My street and intentional camera movement photography has a 2-5% keeper rate. Your ICM images look lovely. Taiwan has more than its fair share of characters. Do you count yourself amongst them? Mask On Nurse Marty (Ret)
Sorry for the late reply, I just saw this comment. I find that 1/20 works for my and my subject matter, but it will depend on a few things, how fast your subject is moving and in which direction. Your ability to pan with the camera. This is crucial to get good images. Experiment and see what works for you. I be interested to know what you come up with.
Settings on f8 Be There don't work for me. First off on the GRiiiX the depth of field is way less than infinity and actually stops around 5 or 6m, and also the shutter speed really isn't fast enough at 1/320. This needs to be at least 1/500. Perhaps people walk faster when I'm about lol....
Thanks for the comment! Yes, it’s slightly different with longer focal length. You can probably adapt it though. I made an updated video where I use Snap Distance Priority. Check that out!

That’s great! Let me know if you have any questions!
Perfect, thank you
Thanks for the comment, glad you enjoyed it!
Keep on. Really like your explanation. Love to use the setting you mention. Greetings from the Netherlands. Love to use the GR 3!
Thanks for the comment. The GR III rocks

Thanks for the comment and that’s a great question. I left it on. I didn’t know to turn it off for panning. I will research this
Very interesting technique. Thanks.
You are welcome!
Great video. I love these images.
Thanks for the kind comment!

When I say 1 in 4 I meant they have something in focus :). I think all street photographers are characters. It’s inherent.
Welcome to Taiwan ❤
Thanks!
How do you come to the 1/20 shutter speed? Does that give you the best motion blur?
