Sydney Trains Vlog 2203: Richmond Train Crash Car D6342 Returns to Service After More Than 6 Years

In January 2018 Waratah Set A42 hit the buffers at the end of Platform 2 at Richmond.
This caused multiple carriages to be quite damaged especially the lead car which was D6342.
A42 was transferred to Cardiff from Richmond in 3 movements.
A couple of years later 7 carriages of A42 returned to Sydney.
The 8th car was a replacement car, D6379 from the prototype set which replaced extensively damaged D6342.
This set is in service with this consist today.
In early 2024 Waratah Set A15 hit a trailer at the Level Crossing Road Level Crossing in Vineyard causing damage to lead car D6415.
A month or two later after being transferred to Cardiff, 7 cars of A15 returned to Sydney.
D6415 remained at Cardiff for repairs.
The 8th car that returned to Sydney on A15 was D6342, the once extensively damaged car from A42.
So in the current day:
A42 is in service with D6379 replacing D6342
A15 is in service with D6342 replacing D6415
D6415 is at Cardiff undergoing repairs

I genuinely stopped working when I thought another train crashed at Richmond because thats all my notification showed before I clicked on the video
That's completely impossible now! There are so many timed train stops it takes about 2 mins just to enter the platform, basically walking speed.

Hey Phil! Nice video and i saw set A42 at circular quay yesterday
The other week at Parramatta I saw A15 & A42 at the same time, D6342 & D6379 were both leading the next runs to the City. It would've been good if they were side by side, but that didn't happen because A42 was on platform 1 while A15 was on platform 4
Have seen A15 several times already since it returned to service with D6342. Now got two Waratahs running with an odd car, but now got one running with two D63 cars

I think it was 2 weeks ago I saw D6342 at Blacktown when I was waiting for a blue mountains service
I went on a day trip to Sydney about a month ago just to watch trains and I actually went in D6342 from Denistone. I didn't know about it being on A15 so for ages I was really confused about which train I was actually on. And I knew it couldn't have been on A42 because I had seen A42 earlier and noted the carriage D6379
That must be the driver car you can see on google earth at cardiff, Its a 2024 image and you can see a lone driver car with no panto dust on the roof sitting there
That could be D6479 or D1100

Do you think D6342 will go back onto A42 when D6415 is repaired and if they put it back into A15

it would have been better for D6342 to be back on A42 and D6379 to be on A15 temporarily
Why can't they put D6342 back onto A42? Maybe even renumber it to conform with the set configuration.
From what i hear there’s no need to at the moment.
D6379 is perfectly fine where it is on A42.
If they don’t remove D6379 from A15 then D6415 will become a spare carriage :)
D6215 might be the Spare carriage Probably gonna be put back on the Prototype

there is a staff member of the hairdresser closest to the Kmart in Nowra who was actually on A42 when the Richmond Train Crash happened and he was one of the eight people who weren't injured at all when the Richmond Train Crash happened and when I got one of my haircuts done at Moe and Co in Nowra in the year 2021 I just happened to be able to get one of my haircuts that I got done at that place done by that staff member of Moe and Co in Nowra and while he was doing my haircut he didn't mind me asking him if he knew about the Richmond Train Crash and he was actually completely fine with me asking him that because I didn't ask him that question without him knowing that I used to live in Western Sydney in Mount Druitt area 2 houses in Mount Druitt itself for the 1st two houses I lived in when I lived in Mount Druitt area and the final house I lived in while I was living in Mount Druitt area for 17 years of my life and for the final 7 years of my 17 years of me living in Mount Druitt area I spent living in Whalan and trust me when I say this if you are getting a Train from Central to Penrith and it is early in the morning and the Dubbo XPT hasn't left the Train Station yet I suggest that you go on the Dubbo XPT because it goes to Dubbo and back only once a day and even though the Dubbo XPT leaves Central Train Station in the morning it still arrives in Dubbo in the afternoon 3 hours after Midday
