some extra background on "-P" names:
it was originally a meme from Idolmaster fandom, many people in that fandom would nickname themself with -P in their username because in the Idolmaster games the player character is a producer for idols
since vocaloid and idolmaster started getting popular around the same time, they had a lot of common fans so habits of both fandoms were often shared
as a result, a lot of fans would usually jokingly give P names to vocaloid producers in comment sections under their songs for fun and a lot of them often end up accepting the nickname the comment section gives to them, and adding it to their own username
Knowledge+100:-D
:-D
some fans say that producers can only have a -p in their names if they are dubbed as such by the fans, is this true?
@@alisonnyanyannya I wouldn't say so, since there are examples of Vocaloid producers from that era who gave themselves their own P names like futanari-p (Oster project) and nashimoto-p
@@alisonnyanyannya that is not true, but is a common misconception among newer fans, usually because new fans often mistake being a vocaloid producer for a professional career, so they imagine there being more importance to certain aspects, when in reality vocaloid producers are just fellow vocaloid fans creating cool content with vocaloids
its all for fun in the end
I forget not everyone is a vocaloid boomer like me and it is so cute! Love seeing so many new fans!

Yeah
hellooo^_^ i’ve only been into it for around 2 years! i’m so impressed by how many people have been into it for so long, i aspire to be like that too :]

I'm honestly glad the vocaloid fandom is having a huge wave of new fans, I've been into vocaloid for many years now and it makes me happy being able to talk about it more openly with people nowadays :'-)
Is it really? Maybe it's just taking a new form I haven't noticed yet. I've been in the community since 2010 and was scared Vocaloid fans were pretty much gone :(
@@satapon4129 it really depends on your circles
Me too :_)
Yeah fr
My friend pulled me into this rabbit hole just this pandemic and I'm not even gonna complain. 🤧
Wish this was out when I found vocaloid

It took me weeks to fully figure out what a vsq/vsqx was lol
@@shatteredarling I didn't know what that meant UNTIL NOW
@@smore-monster lmao
Same I had to learn by asking people in RUclips comments on my old childhood account
Another thing about utaites is that they also create vocaloid songs sometimes.
For example; Mafumafu created jigsaw puzzle and Eve( he's not longer an utaite ) created dramaturgy
Eve is an utaite though?
@@batfacedliar8922 Now he's focusing more on original songs than vocaloid songs
@@FunnyParadoxyeah he did a bunch of covers quite long ago but he's got like several fully fledged albums of original music that go hard
@@chromatic_delusions Yea his songs are absolutly incredible !!!!
@@FunnyParadox he's been my favourite singer for years and I'm so glad he's getting more popular now!! It's been so fun seeing him go from those covers to releasing songs like nonsense bungaku and dramaturgy to even doing anime openings like kaikai kitan and bokurano!! It's truly amazing and I'm glad more people are discovering him
10 years later and I finally understand what vsq means thank you

@@4thWithABudget it wasn’t so bad
I mean sure the painful cosmetic surgery, 6 month of physiotherapy and learning to speak again weren’t fun but apart from that it wasn’t so bad
I've been a fan since 2013-2014.
I don't use the vocaloid software to make songs so I never knew what vsq/vsqx/ust/vpr atcually meant.
Thank you so much Minnemi and welcome to every new fan out there. You mean a lot to us
I'm one of the late comers in the vocaloid fandom. I only started liking songs back in 2019 and I'm happy that content like this is still being made :)
Hermoso que más gente siga uniendose :") (yo estoy en vf (voca fandom) desde 2013 ;;
I joined in 2020,wayyyyy late
@@aquaclouds8282 Nunca es tarde;3
Why did I read 'late comer' as 'late coomer'?
Anyways welcome to you and every other new comer in this fandom!
I joined the vocaloid fandom on 2020-

I'm proud, satisfied and happy that I explored the vocaloid fandom and learned every single one of these instead of studying in high school. It wasn't just "okay", past me, it was the perfect decision.
I have the rest of my life to work and study, but the excitement, curiosity and joy that I felt at that time when you did the things you did isn't something I can just experience "later".
Thank you so much !
Nicely said :')
You really are the Khan Academy of Vocaloid, very epic thank you
how does it feel carrying the Vocaloid fandom on ur back 😭
monster high pfp!
this video is short, helpful and informative, i didn't knew what "-p", "pv" and "append" meant before watching this video so thank you so much for helping me lol :')
This is AWESOME and Commonly-Used Terms from VOCALOID/UTAU/CEVIO/SynthV/Voiceroid-Community
New Vocaloid fan here, was introduced to the fandom fully during the pandemic since I was bored and I came across Nulut / Lanndo (Nyuri) who instantly became on of my favourite artists! His music really kick-started my deep dive into Vocaloid as a genre and is still at my #1 artist right now, my favourite songs from him are Empty Prayer, Vivid A and Terminal. ^^
so glad minnemi used the best picture of giga-p in existence 😳😫 digging the jazzy black rock shooter bgm
where was this five years ago 😔
Ikr
😔✋
No where was this when I first discovered vocaloid in 2011? (Though I'm considered a vocaloid boomer)
Adding more information about Appends:
After Rin/Len's Append release, they dropped the Append name all together. KAITO/MEIKO was originally going to have a V2 but got moved to V3 and called it V3 instead of Append.
Internet.Co ltd did a similar thing. They called it Extend. GUMI was the first one to have an "extend" voicebank. Gakupo got given the extend name but they dropped it soon after and just named them "NAME" V4 or V3.
so append meant updated voicebank?
@@Inspirit-gp4dp Append meant an update/more voicebanks for the character.
@@Inspirit-gp4dp Appends is a term used when they add voicebanks with different emotions (recorded a certain way)
I think it would be good if there was a part two, because there are still a lot of important terms, such as nico nico douga, a video sharing platform popular with vocaloid that has a tier list for the most trendy vocaloid songs, also probably where utattemita and odottemita originated
I've been a fan for over a decade now and I'm so glad to see a sudden resurgence in new vocaloid fans! It just makes me so happy! Thank you for making this video!
i hope a lot of new fans can see this!
i love your videos sm! i truly believe this channel helps keep the fandom alive and I love seeing new vocaloid discussion content being made. Thank you so much :DDD
i got into vocaloid in, like, 2015-16 but i still didn’t know the exact meanings of all these words! thank you!
yessss minnemi pulling through and even w the black rock shooter bgm !!!!! thank u sm now i cn help educate my friends who dont know as much about vocaloid
new fan here, like very new! this was helpful, a few of these terms were confusing so i appreciate the video
Welcome to this fandom!
@@TheAris_P thank you so much !!
@@prithyachan333 thanks !!
@@everestpeaks_4983 Welcs!
ive been a vocaloid fan since 2016 and didnt now what some of these meant until now, tysm 😭😭
I've been a vocaloid fan since 2008 and I finally understand most of this just now
i’ve been into vocaloid for a few years but i still didn’t know a couple of these things! thanks!!
ive been a fan since like 2020, and its nice having some help guiding me through here :)
I truly appreciate your channel and your dedication to keep making the Vocaloid community stay alive. Its always nice to see new fans getting interested in Vocaloid
i've been engulfed with vocaloid since 2014-ish, it's nice to see the fandom rekindling itself with new and old fans alike
I'm new in the Vocaloid fandom and this help me a lot, tysm!!
Glad to see more people into vocaloid. I've been listening to them since 2009 and I'm just happy they are getting more love. Use to watch mmd cups religiously lol
Thanks, I'm a new Vocaloid fan and there are a lot of things to learn and remember, so I'm definitely making a playlist for if I'm confused on anything 💀
Minnemi! Ur next video should be "forgotten popular vocaloid songs"!
For example "The Full Course for Candy Addicts" is one
Additional info on the Character Item thing. Because of a little meme that was happening on the japanese internet at the time, a GIF of Bleach of Orihime swinging a leek, this was added on the original Ievan Polka PV just for the joke. But people really liked the leek (maybe because it reminds Miku's hair) and then started the Character Item's War lololol what I REALLY like about it though is that Crypton/Sega also adopted the items of each character as almost canon. They always appear on the games on the items you can buy to decorate the Vocaloid's rooms (like a Kaito's 5th birthday ice cream cake, or Sake for Meiko, a LOT of leeks for Miku and some others lolol I think if's really cute and meant that they cared for the fandom)
talkloid is not only making a vocaloid speak, but a separate program that has voicebanks similar to the vocaloid program but operating differently, specifically for fluid sentences and not melodical sentences (edit: it's named voiceroid though). yukari has bot a vocaloid and voiceloid vb and in "there's supposedly a cheat code for happiness" is a great example of both of them being used
I've been following/listening to Vocaloid for 8 years and I didn't know half of this. XD
I've been in the fandom since around 2018 but its nice to recap some vocabulary 😁 very educational
I'm not an oldfag to Vocaloid and not really newbie because I've listened to some of the songs in nearly 2015. But then I knew only a few things about vocaloids and only most popular of them (Miku, Luka, Kagamines). This year, I got back to Vocaloid thanks to my friend and found out a lot of things I didn't know of notice long ago.
Well, this video was a good knowledge check and I was kinda surprised that I already know almost all of these terms
Thanks for this! One of my friends wants to be in this fandom y she wanted a video of common terms, I'm so happy that you maked this video! (Sorry for my bad english, im Spanish)
To any new Vocaloid fans watching this: WELCOME! I'm glad to see there's new people to nerd out about these disembodied voices with!
Its been 2 or 3 years since I got in vocaloid, time sure flies :¨) its hard to imagine ppl got in vocaloid almost before I was born or fans who just got into vocaloid a month ago or so
Today I finally learned what pv stood for after nearly a year of having the vocaloid program
Hooooh boy 😳
I never understood the vsq/vsqx/ust/vpr thing until now. 3/9 is also Miku day too 😌
How is it that I got into the Vocaloid fandom nearly 10 years ago and never heard half of these terms? Thanks for teaching me something new!
I knew some of these but others I didn’t even know existed, thanks for this vid!
WOW!! I was pleasantly surprised that you showed Porushi for Odottemita! Her dances are fire!! I wish we still had a bunch of people who posted their own dances and dance covers
Minnemi content saving my confused ass once again
Wow surprisingly I know majority of these except for like 3. I’ve been a fan of Vocaloid for years but it’s kinda hard to interact with the fandom outside of RUclips comments section 💀💀💀
I’ve been into vocaloid for 6 years and I still didn’t know half of these😅. I’d see them time and time again for six years, having no clue what they mean, and be like “yeah totally”.
i don't know if i'm considered a new fan or not, but i'm proud of myself for knowing so many of these!
extra background on mikudayo: mikudayo is not just a costume of a human-sized nendoroid of hatsune miku! when the mikudayo costume was designed, it looked slightly off from miku (as you can see), failing to accurately capture the miku nendo's cute proportions and winding up uncanny, and it scared young children. so it was jokingly given the name "mikudayo," which means like "i AM miku." it's now just a big inside joke
Aaghhh why did i only now know about Vocaloid?? and now i'm crazy about Vocaloid especially miku🥰
This would've been so helpful to me a year ago, hope it helps people now :D thank you Minnemi
I'm a 6 year old vocaloid fan yet this video was also helpful for me, thanks minnemi for carrying the vocaloid fandom
ive been in the vocaloid fandom for a long time but i also didnt know some of these so this helped
I mean I just recently got into Vocaloid, but I was aware of it for a long time just never truly got into it, until I decided to listen to some songs. I really like Kaito, and I’m slowly but surely listening to more.
I am so happy the community is still going strong !
been a vocaloid fan for years and didnt know some of these, thank you!
thank u so much for this !!!!
ur videos r very helpful, thank u sm!!
thank u for including chogakusei omg, hes my favorite utaite
FINALLY
AFTER 7 YEARS
I KNOW WHAT AN "APPEND" IS
This was so helpful
Merriam Webster's Vocaloid Dictionary First Edition
thank you:) i recently got back into vocaloid and my memory was fuzzy but this helped a lot
I've been listening to vocaloid songs since 2012 but I'm not active in the community (I didn't even know it had a fandom back then) so I thought I wouldn't get any of these but surprisingly I know all of these terms!
Very helpful even to older fans who need to brush up on terms !!
This is like a Vocaloid dictionary lol
I've been a huge Vocaloid fan for 10 years now and I actually just got a tattoo of Miku because of how much her singing changed my life and how much she means to me. I still listen to Vocaloid very often and I'm glad to see many newcomers to the fandom.
Welcoming all the new fans here!!! 💙
me, who knows all the terms bc ive been in the fandom for 6 years watching this anyway
I had to learn these as a new -loid fan but I was scared to annoy my friends by asking, thank you
Me watching this even tho I used to spendy nights on the Vocaloid wiki back in 2014
Thank you! I finally got a proper explanation
I'm kinda surprised I manage to learn most of these by myself
Thank you smm for this video :D
AFTER WATCHING THIS 29472937393773837268484847141414164884929284 MILLION TIMES I FINALLY KNOW ALL THE *Fàñç7* TERMS IN THE VOCALOID COMMUNITY
what
Glad you understood!
This will def be helpful for newcomers! Hopefully, they don't get spooked by some of the other terms used that pop up when you're deeper in the community. (I'm sure they'd prob be curious about what "waveform synthesis" and "Resynthesis" is)
I remember when I had to learn and look for it all by myself in 2012
Currently, I knew all the terms except I try to sing/dance and item wars
have i loved vocaloids since 2015? yes.
did i watch the whole thing? yes.
Early!!
for the longest time i used to think it was just some weird coincedence that a lot of vocaloid producers had the P at the end of their name. My dumbass just thought that was their favourite letter or something. It was like a lightbulb moment when i figured it out one day.
Thanks bro im new to the fandom although i knew about it since 2022, i just didnt go deep into it.
as a vocaloid boomer but new in the english vocaloid community i'm glad that someone clarified all of those terms
Let’s bring back the character items‼️‼️
They were so adorable.

Came for the facts. Stayed for the sweet jams
me being a fan since 2013: ah yes, i'm going to watch this video for beginners
earlyyy
i’m not even necessarily new to vocaloid but there were like 2 or 3 things on here that i didn’t even know 💀
wow I just realized the bgm is the opening black rock shooter
i might send this to my family
I'm so glad utaite and odorite were mentioned in this video! Sometimes I feel like people forget about them because vtubers covering vocaloid songs are more relevant than them nowadays.
Another vocaloid moments be like:
thank you so much
I don’t know how i was in the fandom so long without actually knowing the meanings of some words lmao
Спасибо за пояснение❤
ive been into vocaloid for the longest and i didn’t even know p stood for producer. i was just sitting here thinking they all just so happened to have a p at the end of their names
