A true gentleman racer and class act! Kudos to the wife for supporting him in his love affaire with automobiles.
THANKS for putting another Chev on the trailer Kurt !!
Trust me, Chevies do an outstanding job of putting themselves on a trailer or a wrecker
Sick & tired of Chevrolet ads being glued to FOMOCO videos.
FOMOCO POWER FOREVER..
Never a Mopar though! 😊
Thank you for having Curt on....SUCH a class act. LOVE THAT FORD!!!!!!
You're welcome
Ray Paquet is one of my automotive hero’s but this guy and his car are bad to the bone. 💪🏻🇺🇸
He is like the Hickock 45 of cars😃
He said he loves putting those Chevys on the trailer lol...badass
Absolutely beautiful car! Love all the engineering and hard work that went into it. Congrats Kurt on your win! Bye Bye Bowtie!
Yes he makes Bowties into Neck ties!
What a beautifully built clone Fairlane Thunder Bolt with a unbelievable high revving big block 427. If you know drag racing. You know the Thunder Bolt. Congratulations to Kurt winning his class and congratulations to you REVan for having a fantastic U-Tube channel and sharing this fantastic informative video.
Such a beautiful comment Chrysler 300C. No hater in you I see.
@@robertclymer6948Thanks. I appreciate your comment. I love all cars. The Thunder Bolt is a Legendary race car that Ford used because the 427 Galaxy was to heavy running factory Super Stock. Turning 9000 RPMs in a big block 427 is amazing like the car it's setting in.
Man kurt really knows how to shift that thing. Congrats to the big win and building an awesome race car
What a wonderful guy, so humble considering what he's achieved. Love the 'afterburner' rear lights on those Fairlanes.
Ford taillights of the era are fantastic.
An icon of the Total Performace years. This is an incredible T-Bolt. Respect to Kurt for his loyalty to the blue oval.
10:00 breathtaking Ford duel!!
OMG… I love this car! 935 hp NA, and a friggin’ 1 inch valve lift… Wow!
Pretty sure the rules for super stock are ANY cam and valve train. ANY intake manifold as long as it fits under the hood. Makes for some real badass machines!!!!!!
How about some real expensive pistons that have room for one inch of lift, along with the longer valves, springs and rocker arms that clear the retainers with that much articulation or arc. The angle on the rocker arm adjustment screw has to be incredible. They have to be around 1.90 ratio. The boss for the rocker shaft stands has to be 1/2" higher than stock. And on and on.
What a class act! Thank you, Kurt for sharing. Also, for honoring your supportive wife. I would be nowhere if I didn't have one as well! Thanks again!!!
I grew up with FE'S . I really like this and this guy 👍
Always liked those early '60s Fairlanes!
Holy crap! 9 grand with a big block, and a wally? I love it when Fords rule.
ok but did you notice in the first race recorded the other guy left him in the dust?
@@henrybourdon6712 looked like a different class car to me. test & tune maybe.
@@laxplayer99 yah that was my thought after i commented
@@henrybourdon6712 NOT in the same class. It won its class against a Corvette quite easily.
@@sergeantmasson3669 like i said Yah that was my thought after i commented.
Love guys like this. They do all their own work, engines, trans, and then drive it home. Congrats Kurt. Hope to see you at Beaver springs this weekend.
Love these Thunderbolts, and this master has two of them. Truly amazing
Bob Uncle - If you noticed the badass car in the other lane was pulling away from this pro built Thunderbolt.
On first run
Kurt, both you and your Fairlane are winners. I am 75 and remember the Thunderbolt.
Great video, pretty sure he wasn't called "Silver Fox" last time I met him. That was1986 at the PFCA race in Columbus where he was running an SOHC alky funny car. Kurt's a dedicated Ford guy and a hero of mine. And .999" lift! Wow, I didn't think FE-length rockers moved that far!
thanks
Kurt has a bunch of awesome cars
Makes me miss my 64 Fairlane, I wouldn't do it like that... It was such a good street machine! But what he has done is awesome 👍
Evan, "again", you the MAN! What an awesome T-Bolt and a wonderful Kurt. I tried to get a Bolt in the spring of 1964 but no luck. Ford was still building them for the race team
and established drivers? We had T-Bolts racing at Richmond Dragway in Virginia quite often in '64, '65 and on. Love your RUclips channel, thanks a million Evan, Ford Blue forever!
Thanks, glad you like the channel.
My gosh how old are you? I wasn't old enough to drive in 64!! I'm 74 here in '22
Love the car. Anyone that's ever been in the presence of a well tuned FE knows their true potential. They are beasts!
Old guys rock! Lot of dedication and $$. Beautiful car. Fascinated by the top end custom build. Stare at that for an hour. Oil pressure before ignition. Geared just right. Pulls hard all the way. Doesn't run out of gear or need more. Earned that trophy.
No turbos needed just knowledge and dedication, awesome vid mate
Oh brother , he said a mouthful when he mentioned valve springs surviving right after saying the lift was .999 . Old Girl is making flawless passes . Beautiful car , hell of a guy.
Stay safe Curt! Keep living your best life!!!
Man thats one beautiful 64 Ford Thunderbolt brother.
Congrats on your win you have two beautiful cars Ford to the front
Hell yeah. REVan Evan, please keep bringing us the absolute FIRE FoMoCo content that we all love. Badass Thunderbolt!! Bravo Kurt! You know how to build 'em, tune 'em and run 'em!! Legend.
Amazing!! Rpms!!!, Sadly drag racing is now only!! For the extreme!!! Wealthy!!!, Leaves out the working man, now!!!!!!!,gene, calif..........
What a nice man, and what a beast of a car, I can't believe he's pulling over 9k in that!
What a cool guy. Such a gorgeous car.
Wow that thing has to be an absolute blast to drive🤙🏼
Wow beautiful Fairlane! Love seeing those cars run!!
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve watched this,,, I love this combination.
Great video. Thanks Kurt for showing us your awesome T-Bolt!
The FE is my favorite engine
Nice guy. I raced with him in a Nostalgia Super Stock series a few years ago.
These fantastic Fords just get better with these genius builders
What a machine, the gentleman is a class act.The Sound of that big block FE is absolutely amazing @ full song! Great questions on the interview Evan, I used read every mm&ff magazine cover to cover. Feel like the videos bring me back to those days!
Those Tbolts were awesome they run 11 second quarter in mid 60s the FEs were winners big time.
Great guy! Fantastic Ford!👍🏻
A guy I mowed his yard had a thunderbolt big block ! That thing would shake the ground when he started it, that thing was awesome ! 💪
I’ve always been a fan of Curt’s cars , especially the injected Comet, I’ve rooted him on for years when he came to Atlanta Dragway competing in NHRA and NMCA. Great reporting Evan,
and Curt……… keep those Fords up front and collecting the WALLYS🏆🏁‼️👍
Thank you
I like when people try to tell me they need to have a small engine to rev high I'm going to have to reference this video
That Man, that Car, and definitely Not least, the wonderful Wife that loves Her Silver Fox. Incredible !!!
Congrats on the win !! Outstanding car from bumper to bumper , i love everything about it ! Well done !
Evan you keep knocking it out the park. Another great feature. Kurt is a legend! I watched that race online it was an awesome win for the Silver Fox. I missed seeing Ray. I hope everything is ok with him. These guys are definitely not spring chickens anymore but they get it done. Evan now you have featured 2 of Kurt’s cars, can you do one on his extreme pro stock car next. It would complete the trilogy. I will keep watching. Stay safe.
Thanks
Just awesome, this is a blend of driving/engineering talent, art and passion. True America right there!
Very nice idea, i want to see that pro stocker too!
@revanevan what kind of transmission is it,and the name of it
Am a Chevy man but I always loved those cars. Fantastic work. keep up the great work.
Ford’s forever, winning 🏆 like they do in any race event, they inter, like in the 1960 in NHRA and Lemans against Ferrari ,FORD’S forever!🐍
Revan Evan channel, home of the best racing interviews on RUclips. Another awesome hot rod and racer.
Thank you
This man knows more than anyone can remember hats off to him!!!
Very impressive Gentleman with a lot of class and and technical knowledge of His Thunderbolt that had my head spinning. All the sophisticated alterations on the engine alone staying within NHRA Regulations would take years to learn. Some men are darn good drivers Drag Racing but do not know their engines inside and out like kurt does . And to top it off He has Won many trophies at a time in His life when most men would have quite racing years ago. Wish Him Good Health so He can continue in the sport He loves.
Congratulations to Kurt on his class win & one awesome Ford! It's unreal how they can turn that many rpms on a big block! The original 427 valves were 2 piece & sodium filled if I remember right. The 2 piece were a downfall at high rpm,or so I heard. I remember Kurt racing at the NATIONALS in the 80's I think it was. I think it was a beautiful dark green Mustang, but i might be wrong. I wish i could've been there & talked to him in person, I'd have really enjoyed that! Thanks again for the awesome videos!❤
In Super Stock you can replace the sodium filled valves with titanium as long as they're equal to or greater weight as the originals.
@@colt7448 Yes,those stock valves wouldn't last long,anything past 7k!
@@colt7448 But now days you can run beehive springs and titanium retainers to cut down on reciprocating weight.
@@davidkeeton6716 There isn't a beehive spring around that will control the valve motion needed with the lobe profiles that are ran with these types of engines in super stock. 1" of lift and alot of duration, coupled with extremely fast ramps require seat pressures of 350+ lbs and open pressures of 900lbs to start.
Always go with a one piece valve
Awesome job on that Ford! It’s got the looks, performance and a talented driver with a supporting wife!
This was the craziest, little known stock drag car out of the box back in the day. Nothing beat it.
This is the exact type of content that I love so much about your channel. The stuff I don’t normal see (unless I’m there) and it’s all the stuff that my mouth drops over. Thank you for this.
THAT......IS A BEAUTIFUL SOUND
Congratulations on your win. Definitely a awesome car. 👌
Awesome video..all Ford's 🏁🏁
Another GREAT vid, really enjoyed!!!!!! 👍👍
Another great video Evan. Congrats to Kurt and his team. Awesome car.
Great content, absolutely gorgeous car and just an awesome owner, love that relationship between him and his wife, true partnership, a beautiful thing.
It’s always cooler when you build as much of the stuff as possible, then run the wheels off it.
Hold on
One of the best body styles ever created.....for getting down the road fast especially. Perfectly balanced, perfect styling, best engine options, and as solid a car made during the 50s 60s and especially compared to anything during the 70s..... besides the cobra. A beautiful beautiful car. Im a galaxy man myself tho. I call this car the baby galaxy 500.
Another awesome Kurt Neighbor video Evan, you did both car and driver justice yet again.
Hope to see you make yet another one with Kurt holding the trophy in front of his Pro Stock.
Work of art, love watching him work that 4 speed
Super beautiful Ford. Great interview and a real humble guy. Thanks for sharing sir. 👍🏻
Congratulations to the Silver Fox!! Love that BB Ford!! Wow! What a car!!
Thanks Evan, any day with some wheels up drag racing is a good day.
Great video Evan... hope that I'll be able to still race at his age cool Gent!
John Cunningham, I'm 76 and still drag racing 2--5 times each year. Last time was this past June NE Nationals in NH. I won with both of my drag-ready street-legal cars. One did a 9.86 and the other a 11.03.
I'm not much of a Ford guy, but wow does this car do it for me! Great build.
Doesn't matter what brand of car you favor. Cars like this are just badass and fun to watch and music to the ears.
What I've always said 👏
This is too cool. Guys and cars like this are way better than the corporate sponsored big cars in nhra. Men and cars like this are what drag racing is all about. That 427 is as pretty as a sparkley diamond ring.
Those big old FE motors are still competitive today. Ford designed a race bred engine at heart back in the day for their passenger cars.
But what a pain to build and work on compared to a big block Chevy. I know, I'm building an FE right now.
Holy Shiite!!!! An inch of cam lift.
That motor hits like a sledgehammer!
Kinda surprised how much he reveals! Great interview Evan.
This was entertaining all the way through. Kurt is obviously a master at his craft, and he has a gift for explaining it all with the best attitude. Kurt and his car are American Classics. A+++++
I thought DYNO DON had a 409 Chevy 61 Biscayne that he shifted at 9
Lee Shepherd didn't shift by the tach that is what David said
A amazing racer engine builder and a good family man
Love it got a 64 Fairlane wagon plus 62&63 &65 Fairlanes and a member of the Fairlane Club of America.
Great to see Kurt still racing. I raced with him and his partner Gene back in the early 70s at Quaker City.
I am so very impressed Evan with the respect that you have earned over the many years with all of these talented, and very experienced racers. These people are so REAL when sharing their passion for the sport of RACING. They are so very descriptive in how they are able to share the details of what they do in the cockpit as a driver. I really appreciate the work that you bring forth in BLUE OVAL RACING. Thanks again Evan
Thanks for showing this fine care and most interesting and knowledgeable driver/builder👍🇨🇦
I grew up with these cars but how times have changed. You can now buy and drive off showroom floor this kind of performance. Crazy!!
This guy is a legend from Cleveland Ohio these are the old school drag racers that brought me up into my drag racing career thanks Kurt
Appreciate seeing a car that came out 60 years ago that was built by the Factory to win Drag Races and still winning races today. Still using the 427 cubic inch motor that came in all Thunderbolts. 👍
What and awesome ride and a cool guy! Amazing the power he is making with stock CC ports.
Great Fords at the races are always the Underdog
Love those Thunderbolts🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟
9000 RPM FE, now that's what I'm talking about!!!
Beautiful Car, Wonderful Man & a great Show! Thanks for bringing us this amazing look at an incredible car and a Ford Racing legend!
.999 lift! Wow!
What an awesome car, great video
Absolutely amazing. Love the video keep it up Evan.
Kurt really knows his machine work something most CHEVY people DON'T!!!!!
Really nice and well built car
Spectacular! WOW, the in-car vid is awesome! Thanks for this Evan!
The “Silver Fox” ROCKS!
All the big car company's should have made more of these car! This is total American history, the best or country had to offer,no war,no guns, just power...don't get me wrong I love to target shoot too...
My kind of drag racing.... great video and great job on the car
I love you call man it's absolutely awesome Ford power forever keep on pulling the knots out of them bow ties I love your Corvette killer
That is one of the coolest humble and proud Ford owner operator I’ve ever seen what a deserving gentleman or should I say silver fox and I always appreciate my Ford stories to pass along to my Chevrolet son
Kurt, absolutely awesome car. Love the Tbolts for years now. Thanks for sharing.
Awesome!
An old school 427FE big block that screams at 9,200 rpm like a modern NASCAR engine.
