My name is Maria. My 31yo son sent this to me one night at around 4am. I had woken up for some reason and checked my phone and there was the song In a text from him..it was so strange... especially bc he prefers rap (but when he was little he loved Sisters) and has always fought our music. I asked if he was ok and he said he was and just liked the song. I told him I was there for him..... now everytime I hear the song I think of him calling for me in the middle of night.

'Marian I think I'm drowning' 'I hear you calling Marian' To me Marian was not a person but death. And to this day it still represents that. The song of my tortured youth and goth days. It helped me when nothing else would and no one could. Still gives me shivers 20 odd years later.

Such wonderful memories. This song always painted a picture of an old ship gliding quickly across a never ending black sea, sails full of wind, lightning. The singer is the lone person in the ship, everyone else dead. Think Dracula's voyage to England. He is calling for Marian to bring him home.
