Gimme the Ring, kissed and toll'd
Gimme something that I missed
(Gimme the ring)
A hand to hold, wild and what it seems
(Gimme the ring)
Kill the king, when love is the law,
And the we'll turn round...
(Gimme the ring)
Gimme dream child
And do you hear me call?
(Gimme the ring)
On the loan and on the level
...still on the floor
(Gimme the ring)
Sing dream child
And do you hear at all?
(Sing)
(Sing)
Hey now, hey now now, sing This Corrosion to me
Hey now, hey now now, sing This Corrosion to me
Hey now, hey now now, sing This Corrosion to me
Hey now, hey now now, sing...
Gimme siren, child and do you hear me?
Gimme siren, child, and do you hear me call?
Sing, child, of right and wrong
Gimme things that don't last long
Gimme siren, child, and do you hear me call?
(Sing)
(Sing)
Hey now, hey now now, sing This Corrosion to me
Hey now, hey now now, sing This Corrosion to me
Hey now, hey now now, sing This Corrosion to me
Hey now, hey now now, sing...
On daze, like this
In times like these
I feel an animal deep inside
Heel to haunch on bended knees
Living on if and if I tried,
Somebody send me... please...
Dream wars and a ticket to seem
Giving out and in
Selling the don't belong
Well, what do you say
D'you have a word for Giving Away?
Got a song for me?
(Sing)
(Sing)
Hey now, hey now now, sing This Corrosion to me
Hey now, hey now now, sing This Corrosion to me
Hey now, hey now now, sing This Corrosion to me
Hey now, hey now now, sing...
I got nothing to say I ain't said before
I bled all I can, I won't bleed no more
I don't need no one to understand
Why the blood run hold
The hired hand
On heart
Hand of God
Floodland and Driven Apart
Run cold
Turn
Cold
Burn
Hey now, hey now now, sing This Corrosion to me
Like a healing hand
Hey now, hey now now, sing This Corrosion to me
Like a healing hand
Hey now, hey now now, sing This Corrosion to me
Like a healing hand
Hey now, hey now now, sing... Видеоклипы
I don't listen to The Sisters of Mercy as often as I should, but when I do, my neighbors do too 🎶💃😁
How original and amusing..........Not.
@@mjh5437 you feel better now?

My legend will never die or go away!
I’m a goth
YES!!!!! The NY Choral Society absolutely KILLED this!
I remember starting this up on my new system cranked to 9, and watching friends laffing thinking I had "gone on to Jesus"....
40 seconds later, the bass-in-your-face.......2 minutes later lost a few lamps but ALL worth it!! Funniest nite ever!
To chase em out at end of nite... My Life with The Thrill Kill Cult..."Do you fear for your child".... heheheheh
This old man STILL listens to S.O.M...long live this awesome music
I find it hard to stop watching/listening to this
Brilliant. The most popular goths that hated their goth tag but still sounded more goth than the goth bands of that era. I could listen to Sisters of Mercy and Bauhaus all day.
Saw your comment and had to say - I'm constantly hearing Bauhaus and Sisters of Mercy, more and more in current music. These two bands informed much of my early music taste and I still regularly listen to them.
@@martinfrancis3733 plus the Damned have influenced many bands any didn't receive recognition for it.

Timeless song. Love Patricia Morrison and her iconic look
good god, how can this band be so good?!
Love Andrew and Patricia's Sisters of mercy, sooo good
If you were going to clubs in the 80s--this song will immediately transport you there. Such FUN times!!!!
In the 80s, 90s, and 2000. Gothic clubs were the best!
Told my daughter "my friends used to smuggle and smoke pot in clubs in the 80's", she replied "you can smoke inside a club?".
Oh hell ya.
I was a doorman at Excess in Houston in the late 80's. Thanks to Brian, the DJ, this club was always rocking great music like this. Industrial in the 80's was the best! That time, in those clubs, including Avalon, 6400, The Ocean Club, Yucatan Liquor Stand...nothing like it!
YEEEEEE
I mean... i was born in 2003... but YEEEEEE
In 1987 I was painting the garden fence at my grandpa and grandma. And I was listening to Floodland the whole time. Best album of the century! RIP Grandpa & Grandma!
RIP peace to your grandparents! Still one of the greatest songs of my youth!

It's hard to believe how much a simple three-chord pattern, played over and over, can be so hypnotizing. The last several minutes of the tune are perfect if you're a frustrated guitarist looking for something cool to solo over. Brilliant song!
power of rock kid
He was no accomplished musician which seemed to suit him. His love of Abba, Sweet and the Glitter Band which gave simple yet euphoric music to the masses mixed with the grandiose Steinman elements, which Eldritch liked from his work with Bonnie Tyler, turned the old Goth crowd against him. He wrote most of the lyrics while still fucked up on speed while a member of the original Sisters. I started out to just agree with your post but got carried away. Sorry. 🙂

Floodland is such a fantastic album. Being a huge fan of electronica, and some rock, this album kinda felt really unique. The album flows so well. Goth rock, classical, ambient, sad, hopeful, and totally immersive all at the same time. Loved it when I first heard it, and nothing has changed and it will never leave my play list.
Couldn't agree more. An epic album
Yes!
It sure passed the test of time for me too, smthn like 33 years have passed- still sounds great & another one for the bad boysss..
Still brilliant in 2021! ❤️

Patricia Morrison - my first crush as a lil kid
Oh yeah, and Susanna Hoffs from the Bangles
I was 19 in 2000 when I went to my first Goth club and discovered this song. Never been the same and NEVER regretted a moment!

Very nicely written
There was usually a stampede to the dance floor when you heard the first note belt out for this song, in the old days of Chicago Goth. These boys loved Metra/Smart Bar in the 80s and you had a good chance of bumping into Andy and end up buying a round for the Goth movement!
Ahhhh yes, I remember. I was part of that stampede there - such blissful days!
I love Sisters so much!
I am too young to have been clubbing in the 80's but I did used to listen to TSOM while on mounted patrols in Iraq in 03, and 05. Great Times!
10 minutes of bliss
Oh damn how I've missed you my sweet....this music and everything else that came of age in the 80's and early 90's are truely one of a kind. Never before, after or ever again could the stars align to create such a perfect menagerie. Those days for me, were filled with optimism, love, angst, trepidation and an unwavering look to the future, everything else in between was....driving way to fast with a license at 14, going to party's my parents didn't know about, dancing dancing dancing and experimenting with everything and everyone I could get my hands on. All the while still focused on honor roll, sports and civic leadership....try that all together you generation ????ERS! Haha what a blast it was and what a time I've had as an adult so far...if you can call me that. Cheers everyone listening for the hundredth time or if you're 14.....cuz you just discovered this and are gonna rock the rest of adolescence my friend.
💙
Bless. Discovered these geniuses when the scene was already spent in the early 2000s and created a whole clique of wierdos around me. We kept it going and expanded our worlds and live on.
Revisit once again..now with eyes anew..see the meaning behind the song and unconscious will that propelled us to the now..we danced to it then..we rise to fight now

This takes me wayyyy back to the late 80's, early 90's, there was a rock night club in Cape Town called The Playground... We would emerge early hours of the morning from the venue, this being the last song to send us on our way... Oh those were the days!!!
..round about the same time I used to emerge from somewhere in Pretoria/Jo'burg.. not necessarily to Sisters of Mercy 😉 but I was a huge fan even way back then. I could of course go home and wake the neighbours up with an afterparty at 6.00 in the morning 'i sing this corrosion'
Me too. Used to frequent the Thunderdome in Montreal and have the same experience as you.
Playground veteran here too. Vodka jello shots and silver surfers ek se.

AS FRESH AS 1987, hey, now, hey now now, Sing this corrosion to me. Long life, The Sisters Of Mercy, long life, mr. Andrew Eldritch.
In Valencia, Spain, at the Spiral disco with a mescaline in my body, the only thing that mattered was the moment spent listening to Sister of Mersi. Great moments experienced from an era that will not return due to these turbulent times in which we have to live.

I am immediately transported back to the Limelight in NYC and I am SO grateful for SoM and the Limelight and the 90's music scene here in NJ and NYC. The memories I have of that time are most precious. ESP now with zero live music......

What a Mad Max feel in all its 80s glory. I had read somewhere that during the pandemic and handwashing for a certain amount of time, just sing 'hey now, hey now now' 4 times! I had visions of being in club beside the gorgeous ladies all mouthing the line as we wash our hands. Amused me!
This is what would happen if Mad Max was set in England.

Love the bits with the church choirs in the background. Put as it is in the rock context with the singers wonderful voice it is as though they are starting a new religion. Never has the phrase "Hey now" sounded so powerful.

In the 80s we danced to this at the STUD San Francisco !! Good times !

This is what Mad Max should have been listening too on his car radio.
But then he would have missed the ravings of the Nightrider.

I adore 😍 you, Sisters Of Mercy. Most Sincerely Gayle Raye Bremer
I remember dancing my ass of to this song back in Germany, 1987. What a great time to be alive!!
Jesus Holy mother of God - I love this so much! So so much!
Me too. I don't know why, I just do.
Love this song - Sisters of Mercy had a relatively short period of glory, but incredibly good songs. Best in my view were Temple of Love, Alice, Floorshow, Nine While Nine, Ribbons, 1959, Emma.…and a few more
Their best song..."More"
"Heartland" and "On the Wire" is it for me.
Only the original "Temple of Love" though, not the Ofra Haza one. But this song is a blinder.
Yep, love it too, so many good memories, thanks sisters 😊

I miss those days big time!!
exactly. I used to spend my saturday nights wtih my friends in a disco near Bergamo (Italy), the legendary Motion Club. One of the peaks of the night, among tons of rock, ska, new wave, was This Corrosion. We were dancing our asses off. Good old times :)

Poor Patricia Morrison 🙅♀️
There is a very amusing interview wuth Patricia Morrison about the filming if this video.
Apparently they was filmed over 3 days with a gruelling 12 hour shooting schedule.
A very funny and talented lady.
She said she spent 3 day and evenings in a cold and wet studio filming This Corrosion,
" I finally came out of that cold and wet studio to a wet and cold London evening. "
To make mattes worse, she continued, ' I was hungry said Morrison and in London in the Mid-Eighties there was no food take away places open or restaurants open after 10 pm. !'
She then went home to a cold apartment with no food and only a cup of tea.
She laughed and said 'real goth glamour.'
@Stewart White the suffering for a band that she was thrown out for a lousy €15,000 pounds.
@Stewart White what the hell is wrong with you?
No takeaways or restaurants open after 10pm in London in the mid 80s? In London! After 10pm! In the mid 80s! She probably went down the pub for a few hours and then it was well after midnight.
@Mad Phyn You took that troll like a champ 😄👍
To this day I still have a crush on her
