- Ten-Tec Owner Mike Dishop discusses the future of the company, it’s current product line and gives hints about a new Ten-Tec radio coming soon #tentec #hamvention #hamradio
happy to see Ten-Ten rolling again after the move. I hope they have some QRP or low power rigs in their future.
Hopefully they will have something available for less than $5k. They have been selling their commercial receivers for a lot. I will believe it when and if I see it. I never really understood why it was necessary to destroy the old but I guess Walmart offered a lot for the factory site in Sevierville.
Great to hear Ten Tec is alive!
Walt,
Thanks for the video, you got a little more information from Mike that I did about the new Omni 8. One thing he did for me was pull out his phone and for about 10 minutes showed off the plant. All the equipment work stations etc. Even a metal brake to build the Chassis for the Alpha line and the Ten Tec line. It took a 20 ton crane to lift and set into the building. The guy has a ton invested. He is the one picking up the pieces after others trashed the company. He has invested more than I can imagine with no return YET. BUT the one thing he said to me several times was "Don't buy anything here. Save your money till fall. Then PLEASE buy a TEN TEC!!!!!" That really made my day. I asked Fall or winter or??? He said FALL!!! His big challenge now is not parts it is people. He needs people willing to work and is hiring. Or trying to. Can't wait to see the NEW Ten Tec go into business!!!

Bravo Ten-Tec! They may not have all the glitz and glitter of those fancy SDR's, but they WORK! I personally own about 8 ATU's and I can vouch that my favorite and most efficient one is a Ten-Tec. Very good engineering from this company. 👍
Was there at the booth, the boys are working hard to bring TenTec back as a king pin in the bizz......... My Club bought a Tune-a-Tenna last year and we have used it many times it is a robust unit and work wonderful..... Dayton was Great as always. looking forward to great things.
Hey Walt great interview with N8WFF, you let him talk with only the occasional question. Glad to see more American amateur radio products are being made available!
Very happy to see they are back! I owned the early Omni transceivers.....great radios!
Great to hear TenTec is coming back!
Definitely pulling for these guys to be successful !
Always liked ten-tec. On a side note; I hope they add some budget gear to the line-up. That goes for all the other companies in the hobby. For younger hams just coming in along with this rotten economy, we need budget products more than ever to keep the hobby alive. Not just qrp but products to grow with. Just throwing that out there. Another good one here. Cheers. 👍
Wow - is this ever exciting with TEN-TEC. Great to see some new and very hot stuff from them. Lot's of luck guys! Rich, W2FKN
Glad to see Ten Tec still has a pulse. We need as many domestic radio manufacturers as we can get.
Being the owner of a triple nickel Scout as well, it's great to see Ten Tec back in the game. Thanks Walt!
Interested in future radio technology. It's great to see Ten-Tec still actively involved.
great interview ! love to see TEN-TEC back. love that tuner ! Tube amps are not dead. the new ones better than ever ! 73's
Support Ten-Tec! Great video. Biggest news out of Dayton.
Thank you!! 73, Walt
I have a Ten TEC Argonaut that I bought in the 70's and I am still using it.
Stoked to see an RX340 receiver in the background!
Love to see a new version come to market.
Those amplifiers are amazing.
Really good to see Ten Tec making some new products and staying in the game!
That tuner, yes please!!!
$6495 if I heard right.
Wow! Mike Dishop does not mess around. He is really serious about his products. I am very impressed.
Mike sounds a really good guy. This is really good news. Thanks for sharing, Walt!
Glad to hear an American Ham Equipment company is alive. From what I have hear Montgomery County Ohio needs manufactures!! Good that is in the Buckeye state. Continue the tradition of ten-tec transceivers. Great in the past and can be even greater in the future.
Walt, glad you’re having fun. Great interview with 10-10. Guess that I’ll be ordering that tuner shortly! AC3EA
Outstanding! Thats some serious gear.
Always enjoyed Ten Tec gear!
Very cool.
That Tune-A-Tenna would be a great fit for a Collins/Rockwell HF-380.👍
4000 watt tuner? Excellent. I hope the FCC doesn't notice when I start transmitting at near 4000 watts! Now, I just need a really good amp.
Every new Ten - Tec product should have the name,
" Phoenix " attached to it !
Damn......!
Not only is Ten - Tec back, they are on Fire !
But.......I worry about the pricing !
I thought at one point, he said Six Grand for one item ?
The inverted Vee is clever, but how will it work in Snow & Ice ?
Glad to see TT back in business. Hope they come out with a small QRP rig, or a POTA size rig.
WOW some great stuff coming from.TenTec, looking forward to it and a tour of the facility! De WO8USA🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
I am like a few others here, will be live it when I see it. The way they did things when they shut down told me that they never had any intentions of coming back like they were. wonder how many TEN TEC rigs out there that need a pto rebuild kit, try and find one of them now days. I do not know how they could come back any where close to what they were. MFJ going to do the same thing, watch and see..I wonder where it will be 5 years from now as far as USA made Ham radio stuff, more and more off shore stuff coming in..? Thanks for the Vid Walt like watching You Vids.
Mike was not the one who shut it down. He was the guy who came in trying to pick up the pieces and put it back together. I was at the fest and he spent 10 minutes showing me the plant and all the equipment. He is building EVERYTHING in Dayton OH USA!!! I can not believe how much he has invested. All he said to me several times was save your money and in the fall please buy the Omni 8 !!!! I sold a radio and saved my money after talking to Mike.
Thank you. Glen N0QFT
Thank you!! 73, Walt
great stuff. that guy is passionate about ham radio
Glad to hear TENN-TEC is back!!!!!
I have a Eagle, awesome radio and quality USA built, thank you for this interview!👍👍😎😎
Still have 2 Ten Tec radios. Still use them. The tuner is an interesting design if somewhat optimistically priced. They have to compete with plenty of other manufacturers in that market. The 2 x 4CX1500 amp competes with Acom etc. Good to see Ten Tec back.
Glad to hear you're back!
Sweet, good to know they are back!
The Ten Tec Argonaut VI (10 watts) was the first radio I owned after I got my license. I Bought it NEW OLD STOCK from a friend who let it out of his collection when he saw I had the need but not the funds for a new fancy radio. I Made my first USA HF contact with that radio with some homemade dipoles, then moved on to Europe, South America, Japan, Australia ...you all know how it goes. When the Wife got her License, the game changed. The Ten Tec got installed into our Go Kit and rode there for Field Day for several years. It now lives in a Grab n Go kit where I use it mostly as a QRP rig wen the occasion arises and just turning down the ""bigger radio" to 10 watts just seems like cheating. If Ten Tec re-introduced the Argonaut VI again, I''d buy one ! Good Luck in 2024 and the future .
Man I walked around the Ham fest for hours looking for you. Maybe next year you can have a meet and greet at the Ten Tech booth for a few hours each day? Nice to see you made it. 73s
I'm still looking for him. Lol.
@@travisbakeriii3053 I think he forgot his pen and could not sign our t-shirts and hats? Well, maybe next year?
Love Ten-Tec radios, built like tanks and such a joy to operate. So much cheap junks coming from you know where and people having buyer's remorse thinking all features that looks the same work the same. No, they do not. Don't waste money on cheap junk and buy it right first time.
Wish I's kept my TEN-TEC Argonaut V :(
American Made too.
This is awesome news!! Looking forward to the Omni-VIII.
Wish they would bring back the 539 Ago or the 507 Patriot!! Ten-Tec has always been King of the mountain. I still use my Argo 516! 👍👍👍
Gosh, I can sell my 2 kids and I bet still cant afford that antenna Tuner lol. looks amazing!
$64.95? Sounds reasonable lol
Hi Walt! Will they be supporting their older equipment?
My first HF rig was a TenTec Argosy many years ago. That thing was a TANK!
I was really disappointed at the multiple false starts they’ve had in the last 15 or so years so I sure hope they can start making amazing radios again soon!
Smith Chart tee Rocks!
I want one.
Thanks Walt
It's alive!
I have the Omni 7 and Eagle. The Omni 8 will be awesome!
Went to the 10 tech website to check it out. I don't think I've ever seen a less impressive website. Under store it says they're moving and it's dated 2022. Under the antenna in question there's no information
Thanks for that Walt!!!!
I looked on their web site, they show products, including the Eagle in the video and some QRP equipment, but no prices or ways to order.
If they can come out with a new line out kits that are actually worth a damn, unlike the old kits, I might buy some.
I wish Ten Tec 2.0 well….
Man, so hope this is not vapor ware. Still love my Alpha 9500, so wish Ten Tec and Alpha can return to producing great amateur radio products.
Well knowing the recent history, I will believe it when I see it. Personally, they should come out with a upgraded Eagle since more ops are going portable and POTA can be a driving force to have a great POTA rig and boost sales. I use an Eagle for POTA and is fantastic in the field. They must look at the market, and come back into the ham community intelligently.
Gee Walt, I hope Mike gave you a new radio for doing a Ten Tec commercial for him! 😃
Awesome 73
Oh-tec? Ok VNA looks pretty cool. Variable length dipole? Ridiculously priced appliances? Not so much! Thanks for the video.
The inverted V antenna change the length long time ago I told stepper antenna they should build a diepole that change the length for each band how much for the antenna with the controller
I owned an Argonaut II (model 535) in the early 90s. Still regret selling it.
will any of these rigs be available in Australia
Hey Walt, cool shirt! Do u know where I could grab one?
Cool stuff…
I have several old ten tech radios and an old tuner but sense I live in east TN I would feel like a traitor to my state if I purchased from them.
I thought it was an old table cloth. Walked right past em.
Those vacuum caps in the tuner, I'm pretty sure I know the company that makes those, they're a US based company.
It looks like it could be a Z tuner, or I might be wrong.
I don’t know if I believe that they have a new radio coming - I’m super skeptical - that tuner looks homemade. I know they were great at one time - but five years of absence later, and they suddenly are now going strong with new products. I hope it’s true.
I saw a similar interview that guy gave a few years ago now. He was making big promises then, but nothing's happened. As far as amateur radio's concerned the brand is dead.
@@johnratcliffe6438 agreed. I don't know how they could catch up to the market at this point. "I can't talk about it" - can't because it doesn't exist or...?
now you have my attention....
Are you repairing Alpha 8410?
So, who is the owner of the jacket? Who was in 50th Sig?
Sorry, but Ten-Tec lost me when they hauled all their repair parts and manuals to the landfill.
I won't ever give them another penny. Too bad, so sad.
Nothing succeeds like excess!
I was hoping to meet you. Are you still here?
I've been waiting for that ALPHA DREAM TUNER for 7 1/2 years now... How's that VAPORWARE project going? Oh yeah COVID ended 3 years ago time to update the Alpha website so we van order parts again... How's that project coming along?
Omni 8 - did he say 7 inch screen?
I sold my Argonaut many years ago and regretted it ever since
His predecessors burned not a few bridges. Good luck to him. He may well need it.
7" screen. Hint!
Wow. $64.95 for that thing… heh heh heh. Mind boggling that Ten Tec and “embedded web server” are in the same sentence.
How come HRO don't sell ten tech in their store
looks like he ate ten of something lol (that tuner looks badass though)
Ten-Tec owner since 80s (Argo 525D) and still have my Argo VI. So how does this guy compete with the Icom 7300 or even a Yaesu FT DX10, which cost in the low thousand dollar range. His Omni 8, that he’s not taking about, needs better features than those two radios and it’s hard to believe he can compete in the current environment. Talk’s cheap but the radio may not be.
I have a dead Orion 2 no one even wants to look at it, I loved the rig when it was working, did all that can be done to repair it---new caps on power supply board etc. its dead, needless to say I am a bit gun shy when it comes to new ten tec. $6495 for an antenna tuner!!!!! wont be ordering that one any time soon !.
K3CA
Good old American tech - built to last and to service. Way to go when buying stuff is easy but getting it fixed is not.
Ten Tec's web site is not working too well.
I assum 6:14 the tuner is $6495, not $64.95. Hum, 6x the price of the radio. I like what I see, but can't ever hope to own one.
I thought $6495 is what I heard, must be a Hell of a Turner!! Don't think I need one for over 6 GRAND!!
@phanrangsam Yeah. For what it dies, handling full legal power, I was expecting it to he expensive. But for more than the price of a FTdx5000 seems a bit out of my budget.
Never been to a ham show, dont see them around here.
Guess I’m fully priced out of ham radio now! Normal mortals will never afford any of this stuff
That radio will never happen.
I'll believe TT is coming back when they start shipping radios and stop talking about mythical radios and gadgets.
I guess Ten Tec can't never make a decent handheld with digital modes like p25 or DMR,
Tentec has been moving for 7 years sinceh
His purchase and all these years since the move you can't purchase, looks likes a scam.
I'll believe it when a) the president stops whining on forums and b) when you can see a price and buy a rig without a 100 item preorder. Fuq Ten-Tec.
Wish they could've saved MFJ...
