My fiance is british and everytime im over there to see him and we go to a seaside town im always so facinated! The cute colourful houses, rollercoasters, fish and chips everywhere, pubs, arcades everywhere you look, seagulls attacking you for your food.. yes one tried to snatch my dinner when i went last month and i absolutely threw tartar sauce all over myself because i was gonna swat at it and forgot i was holding the sauce packet 😂😂

Nostaligia is synonymous with sadness for me, because it reminds me of how quickly time goes by and how drastically things change, and I do not handle change well. It's such a bittersweet feeling because you want things to progress for the better but miss the things that brought you joy

Also in regards to ADHD, I've only recently begun suspecting I may have it and am waiting to see a doctor about it. Honestly more of just needing that confirmation so I have an understanding of why I am the way I am - seems like life is just an endless battle of learning who we are and why we do things the way we do. Well at least it makes us interesting x.

I totally get feeling sad when I get nostalgic. Times seemed a lot simpler compared to now and I feel like I took it for granted and would love to revisit my childhood and appreciate it more. There wasn’t as much technology and the only way to get onto the internet was to use the telephone wire! I’ve just turned 28 and found some old video cassettes in the attic! How times change! ❤

Yes nostalgia is bitter sweet. For childhood it’s really strong, almost painful. I lived in Greece for 12 years and that is so nostalgic when I see anything Greek, I’m gone completely and prone to sobbing! I think we remember the past as all being so good and forget that it was also hard! I keep thinking to myself, appreciate the now because when you;re old you’ll be nostalgic about 2024!

Hi Aden, I have always been a bit of a silent viewer, but these nostalgic British builds have me needing to comment! I totally understand the feeling of sadness with nostalgia, I’ve suffered with it for years, always wishing I could go back to the early 2000’s when times were easier and Christmas was more magical (probably because of the bloody foil hangers from the ceiling 😂). Your videos were and are, a great comfort to me especially over the past few years when I was going through hard times, so thank you so much 💜 for these British builds.. as a fellow Brit, we definitely need to see a primary or secondary school! Maybe a family owned butchers with the striped awning outside, next to a barbers with the spinny striped lights? (god knows the name of them and if anyone has ever made them in CC 😂)

  • @crimsonskies1987

This is so relatable. The good old British "social club" where it reeked of 500 super kings, a spittoon from 1832 and stale beer! Grim laced curtains, 250 year old drinks coasters and there was always one old lad in there with a story or two about the war.
When I was young we went to stay with my great aunt in Hereford who owned a house like your previous cottage build. There were alot of us that year coming from Essex and my aunt thought she'd be smart and book a "hotel" *she's posh* 😂😂 we met her at this "hotel" she had a scarf round her head and it was a really run down B & B with 70s decor in the 90s and drips down the front of the building. I still remember her rushing to get us away from it "if someone sees us they'll tell Nanny Flo I'm a street urchin, I'll be shunned!" She ended up kipping in the attic with me for 3 weeks!

i don't even play sims anymore, but i've recently become obsessed with speed-building videos for the aesthetics! i always find myself wanting more of these british-style builds so seeing that you're doing this nostalgic series for just that has made me SO happy. especially as someone who is ridiculously sappy and reminiscent of older, simpler times. you mentioned about doing christmassy builds when the weather gets cooler, and i'm unsure if custom content would allow this, but if it WAS miraculously possible, it would be insanely cool to do a semi-detached lot of two houses that have the most over-the-top, garish christmas lights display out the front of their houses. there are two houses on a street near me that do this every year for christmas, and it's become a sort of local attraction. it would be awesome to see it replicated in the sims!

What you're doing with the coasters is called stimming. Everyone does it to some degree, even neurotypicals. Tapping their foot, or something less destructive/disruptive. My stim is peeling the skin off around my fingernails till it bleeds to cope with stress and overstimulating situations. I was diagnosed at 13. 🙃

I think I have stayed here! Nostalgia can bring sadness because of what has been lost between then and now but also the happy memories. I understand you with the no seaside holidays, I am in Poole, literally 500m from the sea. When my children were small we would go to the beach early evening after the grockles were back to their hotels for the evening meal - 6 kids and never once bought a bucket and spade as the kids were clear up all those left behind & the boot of the car was full of them!! We used to come to Devon for holidays, stayed in a caravan park near Exeter and would visit Creely? Park, the zoo (one tiger obsessed son), some place that had lots of model trains (one train obsessed son). We would escape our grockles to become your grockles 🤣🤣

Hi Aden, I LOVE this series! I also have that nostalgia pack, I think it is the best! I wanted to build a bunch of older apartment buildings and bungalow houses from Chicago and the suburbs, and it fit perfectly! It really brings back memories, especially for me growing up in the late 70s and 80s in Chicago. I feel sad looking at it because I don't understand how anyone could have thought it ever looked good lol. But yeah, it's an amazing build perfect for a rainy and cold holiday by the sea. For other builds maybe a block of council flats could be fun, maybe a little independent cinema? You could do that in the same place as the leisure centre to be fair. Maybe a village hall and park? Anyway, just some random suggestions. Happy birthday for Saturday!

Nostalgia... yes. I am 63 now, and I don't think I've really understood 'nostalgia' till these last years. A really sad longing for the past - even though some of the past wasn't a very happy time for me; I still long for it. Sometimes it's music that takes me there, but it can be anything that reminds of a past time. You seem to young for this, but who am I to judge - it is what it is and it comes when it comes. Hugs.

    Hi Aden
A video idea here.... could you do a behind the scenes of what you do for your videos? like the prep, the creations, the video editing, the process from start to finish? would be great if you could go over your PC setup with hardware specs too. Be really nice to go over how you download yours mods and the process of putting them into the games, cheats you use, keyboard/mouse shortcuts too. I just think this would be really beneficial for those who are new to SIMS 4 but also those who are currently play the game but want to delve into MODS, shortcuts, builds/gameplay.
    Just an idea.... XOXO

I also get so melancholy but in a good way when im feeling nostalgic! I think it's really the state of mourning and acknowledging the past but treasuring how it made you feel in the present. awingedllama's stuff is so good I went insane when they released this nostalgia set, it's always in any builds I use in my game! Thank you for sharing your stories about seaside living. I'm from a tropical and swampy area so seaside towns like in the UK sound so glamorous to me as a vacation spot! Excited to plop this build in my game and explore it with my sims.

8:52 yup! I remember a restaurant having a small glass room for asthmatics so they wouldn't get smoke. In the very early 2000s smokers had to go in there instead. Then in the mid 2000s the smokers were given a cage in the parking lot, and by the time 2010 came around the cage was removed and smoking in restaurants was illegal. I've always felt sick near cigarettes even without asthma, so to me it was a good thing. But I can still remember the smokers complaining about the glass room because those feeling sick from the smell "could just choose not to" 🤦🏽

Holy crap the way I got nostalgic tingles everywhere just looking at this. You did an incredible job luv 👏👏👏
2:33 o a hotel pack would be brilliant. We’ll probs gets the sims5 before that drops 🙄😅
4:11 hahah! Wouldn’t be the British seaside without gull shit everywhere even in your chips…
4:55 oooo a timed build challenge!? Can’t wait to witness the panic 😆
    5:55 I love hearing about what you’re watching hun, keep sharing (: I haven’t watched it but I’ll have a looksy 🧐
7:26 ADENNNNN the attention to detail! Ugh all the drippy drips under the windows, love it 🙌
8:16 sorry to hear you’ve had a lot on your plate lately, sending you hugs and good vibes. Happy birthday for Saturday!!!! 🥳🎉💝
9:33 Yh I know what you mean. I live by the coast as well. We do kind of take it for granted 😅 I did a few seaside holidays in my adulthood and it was lovely. There’s a cosy vibe about it that I don’t get from holidaying abroad.
11:30 aahhh can’t wait for Xmas vibezzzz. I love summer but I’m more of a transitional season gal. Spring and autumn all the way 😌🙏
12:20 sameeeee those kitchens are a staple ☺️. Yeah nostalgia can make me feel sad as well. It’s usually when the change isn’t an improvement but instead, has obliterated what was so magical about that time and place.
14:14 gah, I can’t stand places where you have to share a bathroom x_x I do love an en-suite but you can’t always count on an old school place being refurbished and having one
16:13 that godforsaken carpet haha, oml. You just know it hasn’t been cleaned since opening 😭🫣
16:50 look into getting diagnosed hun. I was diagnosed with Audhd a while back but I’m on a waiting list again to be reassessed. I will say, be prepared for a long wait if you’re not going private 😬
18:23 pub lunch just hits diff idk why but it just does. Although I have had food poisoning a few times 🥴 enjoy your fancy munchies 🫶
19:58 wow, cc never ceases to amaze me
21:19 aawwww what a dinky lil thing 🥺
21:55 gorgeous!!! Looks amazing. Love how you manage to balance something looking realistic while still being functional in game- not an easy task.
    👋☺️

In terms of ADHD I really recommend getting diagnosed! I have the inattentive type and it was amazing how much even the diagnosis and understanding my brain helped me in my life, and the medicine is absolutely amazing, there’s a huge difference for me ❤

I enjoyed that show too, love British shows. My favourite is As Time Goes By. And yes I did try to build the house and make the characters🤭
    Happy Birthday 🎉

A fab build as always and happy birthday. Sadly my first thought was you can tell it's from the 90s because it isn't a Wetherspoons (a visitors perspective only of course).
Gosh the B&B makes me want to see a Fawlty Towers though!

This is another wonderful build. I can smell the salty air, and the cigarette and the damp musky rooms that have lacked a refreshing for years. This is why I need to get a new computer to play The Sims on and move away from console playing. The custom content available blows me away. If you take suggestions - A twist on a decade build. Start with a building in a certain era or year (1875 for example) and then update the same building through different timelines in history. Did the family put on an addition at some point? Was it remodeled when a new must have item was introduced into the world? Maybe there was a family with a child that grows up, moves off to college or university and the parents redo their room only for them to move home when their world falls out from under them..., I think YOU are one of the few creators that could accomplish this very well.

Sarah Lancashire is an amazing actress, especially in Happy Valley 👮🏼‍♀️
