I honestly don't understand how this channel only has 35.4K subscribers. The quality and consistency of content is admirable to say the least.
yeah
dont know if anyone cares but if you guys are bored like me during the covid times then you can watch pretty much all the new movies on InstaFlixxer. I've been streaming with my brother for the last few weeks =)
@Timothy Evan yea, been using instaflixxer for since december myself :D
I think some people find this subject confusing because the term gamma is used to describe the monitor - capture for processing and the actual camera Dynamic range.. Alister hit every one in this excellent interview - but kind of quickly glossed over the differences. I find that the more you know - the more you can learn and comprehend. My advice to people that didn't understand everything said, is to just keep watching and reading - it's like learning anything - at one point suddenly you will realize that you are understanding everything and that point will only come after hitting a lot of brick walls til it breaks through.
These video series are so well done, useful and enriching. I come from the broadcast engineering world and all these concepts make so much sense to me. Thanks ! That's a pity you are quite far from where I live, I would love to attend those workshops.
Thank you very much, we're glad they're proving useful!

Extremely interesting episode. And gamma definitely something I haven’t mastered, basically mastered each camera very ad-hoc (best effort on the fly) instead of learning it properly. Never liked working with false color etc but unless you shoot raw it seems very intelligent to have skin color where your gamma wants them.
Thank you! :)
Thanks for watching!

Any pdf or site to know how to expose each gamma ?
Can you share your lighting setup for this?
Sure, the key light was a SWIT S-2610 with a softbox mounted to the ceiling behind Carl and Alister. We then had a SWIT S-2630 adding a small amount of fill to the entire scene,, other than the odd background light, that was it.

You should have at least 500K SUBS There are yahoos with over a million spewing garbage.Maybe the pro crowd is smaller than I thought ?.Thanks for your quality videos.
Not sure if it’s because I’m coming from Canon, but this is either over complicating things or I’m not smart enough to understand it well enough. What was this actually about 🤔
what do you mean canon? canon has a gamma curve. c-log is a gamma curve . same as rec 709. nothing to do with manufacture. I think you just aren't working on projects where you need to utilise this info at this moment, it will come at some point and then it will make sense, nothing to do with camera brand. just keep on creating !
Huhhh
