I actually love the idea that after Cobra was defeated and broken up, Cobra Commander sells his old technology to the mob. I like the touch that G.I. Joe music plays at the end of the episode too, I forgot about that part. ...I like to imagine Old Snake also killed Serpentor off-screen between the DIC series and this.
Probably do that after he regained his human form. Of course when cobra collapsed he managed to escape with all the money I decide to live the way he does.

What threw things off for me was in Transformers Prime when Ultra Magnus appeared and temporarily took charge of the Autobots when Optimus was, I think brainwashed by the Deceptions. Because U.M. sounded like he was more superior over Optimus. Whereas in the movie when Optimus was about to die and he was passing the matrix to Magnus, Magnus said he wasn't worthy of it.

Unfortunately Transformers shifting the setting ahead 20 years while GI Joe was still set in the 80s pretty much ruined that since the Joes would have been too old for military heroics by that point. The staff mentioned they'd wanted to do more, but couldn't because of the setting change.
Hasbro/Paramount still have plans to do a Transformers-G.I. Joe crossover, in Live Action Bay-O-Matic cinema vision; the latest iteration, "Transformers: Rise of The Beasts" is supposed to be the first of a crossover trilogy.
It must be remembered that in Season 1 that the episode "Autobot Spike "had temporarily transferred Spike 's brain patterns into an Autobot body in order to have an operation performed on his human body. This essentially shows that the reverse can also occur in their version of the universe.

Keeping his snake like appearance in Operation Dragonfire was one of the things DIC kept in continuity from the original GI Joe Season 3 drafts, possibly due to this episode. Also makes me wonder why Cobra Commander/Old Snake did not appear in COPS or GI Joe Extreme since both series take place around the same time as G1 Season 3.
The closest thing aside from this episode is just an indirect one with Marissa Faireborn. She presumably is the daughter of Flint and Lady Jaye. Although back then, that wasn't established either.

The Transformers should’ve had a crossover with G.I. Joe in Animation. G.I. Joe allies themselves with Optimus Prime & the Autobots, while Cobra does the same with Megatron & the Decepticons. It would be a blast especially now that the Dinobots are a combiner team. I would have an all out Combiner & Titan showdown the fight would consist of these guys: Volcanicus, Superion, Defensor, Computron, Omega Supreme, Metroplex, & Fortress Maximus vs Devastator, Menasor, Bruticus, Abominus, Predaking, Trypticon & Scorponok
Fun fact: Hasbro has tried multiple times to make all their franchises part of a shared universe A bunch of comics plus this cartoon is the closest they’ve gotten
I’m aware how G1 fans say how poor season 3 (the season that aired post-movie) was (hence there were episodes like this one); it’s understandable that this episode reminds fans of Starscream, who I still ask myself if (all the Autobots who made their debuts in the movie, and were the main Autobots thereafter - in season 3) Blurr, Kup, Rodimus Prime (and who he is if and when not wearing the Autobot matrix - Hot Rod), Springer, Ultra Magnus, Wheelie and Wreck Gar remember (given that, in Starscream’s only two season 3 appearances, where he’s a ghost, after the blast he took, back in the movie, at his ‘coronation’, when Galvatron transformed, for the first time, to laser cannon mode - in his first appearance as such - ‘Starscream’s Ghost’, and in the sequel, which is Starscream’s last appearance in the 80s American G1 cartoon - ‘Ghost in the Machine’, most of these Autobots, for some reason, know Starscream’s name, and especially act as if they remember him before Galvatron killed him at, again, his ‘coronation’).
Needless to say when I first saw this episode I was shocked to see Cobra Commander was still around and one other thing I was wondering about is if the Autobots knew about G.I. Joe and vice versa sadly we may never know even though they met in the comic books but never in any of the cartoons.
A precursor to the Pretenders, while Hasbro couldn't make heads or tails of the gimmick and featured them as Transformers in giant humans and monster shells, Takara came up with the idea the Pretenders were human sized and mass shifters like Megatron and Soundwave, the Autobots lived among humans since the stone age and guided them while the Decepticons took monster forms to rule over humans as gods. The armour on the humans was merely a power up otherwise they wore civilian clothes.
@@SuperMookles long answer: transformers got ported to japan (duh, they came from there as diaclone, micro man, macross and others) and became super popular there. when the american series ended, japanese mega media corp, TOEI got licenend to make new shows. toei ignored "the rebirth" 3 part finale and instead created a series of new shows. the 88' toy line introduced THE PRETENDERS in both markets. they were incorporated into the show SUPER ROBOT LIFEFORM TRANSFORMERS: SUPER GOD MASTERFORCE. the second of the japanese series. OP is describing many of the plot beats of that series. the main autobots for the first arc are a quartet of ancient autobots who have human disguises and can shrink and grow to match forms (mass shifting). the decepticon pretenders have monster forms and are the basis of many human monster legends like vampires werewolves and sea-monsters. the show also introduced the "Headmaster juniors" a trio of kids who had power armor that allowed them to become heads to lifeless transformer bodies. the decpticons would eventually get thier own human MASTERS in the form of mega and giga and their robot called overlord and the (don't laugh) breast masters (yes these toys were japanese exclusives). and the greatest bit was Girai. introduced about half way though the show, he was a japanese american truck driver who drove a VERY FAMILIAR TRUCK. after a crash caused by decepticons, he found that his truck was also a lifeless transformer body and became it's powermaster as GODGINRAI. the toy was sold here as POWERMASTER OPTIMUS PRIME.
Cobra Commander was so much more ruthless after his transformation into a Snake. This episode shows just how much more effective he was using the old tech from Cobra in an effective way!

This was one of the S3 episodes we talked about in school the next day. To wit: "DID YOU SEE COBRA COMMANDER ON THE TRANSFORMERS YESTERDAY??!?" And of course, that meant that what happened to CC in G.I. JOE: THE MOVIE - namely Golobulus turning him into a snake - was reversed at some point in the ensuing twenty years. We were so happy about that. Yeah, the Commander was a baddie, but he was one of our FAVOURITE baddies! Convenient how the human Autos found colour-coded clothes to wear! @8.24: Looks like human Arcee had some rack on her. This experiment was a success!!
Both shows share a reporter character named Hector Ramirez. He also shows up in "Jem" and "Inhumanoids." It's my theory that the reason the Decepticons took over Cybertron for the movie is because the Autobots decided to help clean up Cobra and the Inhumanoids, giving the Decepticons an opening.
Personally, I like to believe that all of the Hasbro cartoons of the 80s take place in the same universe. Timeline of events: The MASS Device mini series The Revenge of Cobra mini series Transformers Season 1 Pyramids of Darkness mini series Transformers Season 2, GI Joe Season 1, Jem (Happening concurrently) GI Joe Season 2 GI Joe: The Movie The DIC GI Joe Series Inhumanoids Transformers: The Movie (The year 2005) Transformers Season 3 (One year after the movie) The Rebirth (Transformers Season 4) C.O.P.S (13-14 years after the end of the Transformers cartoon) Visionaries (On another planet, so it could be happening anywhere in my little makeshift timeline)
Which also means that G.I. Joe A Real American Hero takes place in the 1980s, this episode takes place 20 years after the events of the series because Old Snake is an older version of Cobra Commander
Honestly this Victor guy was way lucky that he had Cobra Commander, an professional and serious supervillain to help him out, at least until he got busted.
If I'm right, it happens to be the same studio that worked on a bunch of G.I. Joe eps, Sei Young (maybe it's another nod to the crossover). They also did virtually the entire "Defenders of the Earth" series.
Old Snake's strange device looks more like a Zentreadi sizing chamber from Robotech: The Macross Saga, that cloned Autobots Rodimus Prime, Ultra Magnus, Springer and Arcee into Dick Gautier, Jack Angel, Neil Ross and Susan Blu as human beings respectively, while the four Autobot Husks that became like Diaclone robots for the human villains to pilot them, G1 toy character Ultra Magnus who was once known as Powered Convoy in the Diaclone toys.
What would have been really cool is if Draff’s girl was in reality lady Jaye or Scarlet in deep cover. I mean she did seem to be reluctant to watch the “deaths” of the autobots

What If Rodimus, Magnus, springer, arcee, Kup and Grimlock all 6 got captured and had their minds transferred into human bodies! I would love to see a human dumb Grimlock and a real human old man Kup 😆 would anyone agree with me? Kup and Grimlock too should have had their minds transferred!
at the beginning of the episode to this day i couldnt help but chuckle at Rodimus taunting the looters and fiddling with the stolen volitile container like it was some kind of toy.

I’m aware how G1 fans say how poor season 3 (the season that aired post-movie) was (hence there were episodes like this one); it’s understandable that this episode reminds fans of Starscream, who I still ask myself if (all the Autobots who made their debuts in the movie, and were the main Autobots thereafter - in season 3) Blurr, Kup, Rodimus Prime (and who he is if and when not wearing the Autobot matrix - Hot Rod), Springer, Ultra Magnus, Wheelie and Wreck Gar remember (given that, in Starscream’s only two season 3 appearances, where he’s a ghost, after the blast he took, back in the movie, at his ‘coronation’, when Galvatron transformed, for the first time, to laser cannon mode - in his first appearance as such - ‘Starscream’s Ghost’, and in the sequel, which is Starscream’s last appearance in the 80s American G1 cartoon - ‘Ghost in the Machine’, most of these Autobots, for some reason, know Starscream’s name, and especially act as if they remember him before Galvatron killed him at, again, his ‘coronation’).

So I really really got to be honest here, I am seriously so glad that the G1 Transformers was totally in the same universe as G1 G.I. Joe.

Needless to say when I first saw this episode I was shocked to see Cobra Commander was still around and one other thing I was wondering about is if the Autobots knew about G.I. Joe and vice versa sadly we may never know even though they met in the comic books but never in any of the cartoons.

A precursor to the Pretenders, while Hasbro couldn't make heads or tails of the gimmick and featured them as Transformers in giant humans and monster shells, Takara came up with the idea the Pretenders were human sized and mass shifters like Megatron and Soundwave, the Autobots lived among humans since the stone age and guided them while the Decepticons took monster forms to rule over humans as gods. The armour on the humans was merely a power up otherwise they wore civilian clothes.

@@SuperMookles long answer: transformers got ported to japan (duh, they came from there as diaclone, micro man, macross and others) and became super popular there. when the american series ended, japanese mega media corp, TOEI got licenend to make new shows. toei ignored "the rebirth" 3 part finale and instead created a series of new shows. the 88' toy line introduced THE PRETENDERS in both markets. they were incorporated into the show SUPER ROBOT LIFEFORM TRANSFORMERS: SUPER GOD MASTERFORCE. the second of the japanese series. OP is describing many of the plot beats of that series. the main autobots for the first arc are a quartet of ancient autobots who have human disguises and can shrink and grow to match forms (mass shifting). the decepticon pretenders have monster forms and are the basis of many human monster legends like vampires werewolves and sea-monsters. the show also introduced the "Headmaster juniors" a trio of kids who had power armor that allowed them to become heads to lifeless transformer bodies. the decpticons would eventually get thier own human MASTERS in the form of mega and giga and their robot called overlord and the (don't laugh) breast masters (yes these toys were japanese exclusives). and the greatest bit was Girai. introduced about half way though the show, he was a japanese american truck driver who drove a VERY FAMILIAR TRUCK. after a crash caused by decepticons, he found that his truck was also a lifeless transformer body and became it's powermaster as GODGINRAI. the toy was sold here as POWERMASTER OPTIMUS PRIME.
I remember a comic book where GI Joe and Cobra join Autobot to fight the Decepticons. There was a robots form which one look like Snake-eye.

This was one of the S3 episodes we talked about in school the next day. To wit: "DID YOU SEE COBRA COMMANDER ON THE TRANSFORMERS YESTERDAY??!?" And of course, that meant that what happened to CC in G.I. JOE: THE MOVIE - namely Golobulus turning him into a snake - was reversed at some point in the ensuing twenty years. We were so happy about that. Yeah, the Commander was a baddie, but he was one of our FAVOURITE baddies!

This episode is proof that G.I.Joe and the Transformers exist in the same universe.
Especially if Marissa Fairborn is truly the daughter of Lady Jay and Flint.
Both shows share a reporter character named Hector Ramirez. He also shows up in "Jem" and "Inhumanoids." It's my theory that the reason the Decepticons took over Cybertron for the movie is because the Autobots decided to help clean up Cobra and the Inhumanoids, giving the Decepticons an opening.
Personally, I like to believe that all of the Hasbro cartoons of the 80s take place in the same universe.

Honestly this Victor guy was way lucky that he had Cobra Commander, an professional and serious supervillain to help him out, at least until he got busted.
The animation looks pretty good for season 3. I love the backgrounds. Too bad they using the wrong animation models for Springer and Arcee.
If I'm right, it happens to be the same studio that worked on a bunch of G.I. Joe eps, Sei Young (maybe it's another nod to the crossover). They also did virtually the entire "Defenders of the Earth" series.
Old Snake's strange device looks more like a Zentreadi sizing chamber from Robotech: The Macross Saga, that cloned Autobots Rodimus Prime, Ultra Magnus, Springer and Arcee into Dick Gautier, Jack Angel, Neil Ross and Susan Blu as human beings respectively, while the four Autobot Husks that became like Diaclone robots for the human villains to pilot them, G1 toy character Ultra Magnus who was once known as Powered Convoy in the Diaclone toys.
It's the same synthoid technology that Cobra had used to create Serpentor.

This episode was great! But if anyone would agree that four autobots weren't that great! What If Rodimus, Magnus, springer, arcee, Kup and Grimlock all 6 got captured and had their minds transferred into human bodies! I would love to see a human dumb Grimlock and a real human old man Kup 😆 would anyone agree with me? Kup and Grimlock too should have had their minds transferred!
at the beginning of the episode to this day i couldnt help but chuckle at Rodimus taunting the looters and fiddling with the stolen volitile container like it was some kind of toy.
