As someone who has worked in shoes stores even as a seller in mall as a part time while in collage, and have been working in shoe companies in Europe, well made faux leather is so much better. Real leather is way overpriced and degrades and breaks down very fast plus it gets loose after one try
As someone with very small feet (Uk 3/ EU 36) I would recommend a squared toe. I personally really hate pointy toe shoes and i found that the squared toe looks so much better. Also i do tend to wear shoes on the chunkier side because anything more dainty makes my feel look very small and makes my upper body appear way bigger
i absolutely hate how uncomfortable pointy tip shoes constantly are for my toes. it makes my toes feel trapped like if i’m wearing 10 pairs of socks inside a tennis shoe.
my first time disagreeing with you here but rounded toes always look better imo it looks more natural and is universally flattering pointed toes always look odd and make the feet look too long
FOOT HEALTH: You forgot to mention that IF you get pointy shoes you should ALSO aim for a longer length so the toe box doesn't give you squished / bunion feet. AND you should get Pointed Heel Spacers or make a set that is filled with cotton and fill that Pointed VOID so your feet don't slip there too much (always enable a covered hole to refill / exchange the filler after washing). Older versions wrap around the foot and feels like a half sock and can be tied to have a Cute Bow or other shape to hang out. LASTLY, don't forget about some cotton, gel or refined leather slips that you can adhere to the BACK of the shoe to protect your Achilles Heel area AND on the BOTTOM of the FOOT, to prevent additional Sliding -- especially if you're a Go-Getter Salary Woman, go get stuff done SAFELY!
square toes- they go away and come back every 30 years . don't buy them unless your toes are straight across - otherwise they look like duck feet shoes on your feet .
Would love it if folks sent you labels of their favorite clothing that they've had for a long time, and you explain why the fabric works so well for that piece. I've been looking at a mostly rayon tank that I've had (and worn frequently) for well over a decade yet it still looks basically new, and wondering why it's held up so well.
Rounded toes make women's feet look smaller and more dainty which is desirable. I don't know ANY woman who wants to make their feet look bigger, regardless of how small their feet are.
People who have short legs and feet actually look best in rounded heels. It's harmonious with their rounded and dainty shape. People with long and wide legs look best in pointed heels while people with long and slender legs look best in box-toe/square-toed heels. ❤
Also, please note balance & pressure are different for everyone's body types. For me it's much more comfortable to wear higher heels. Any day on 5cm, my back will hurt.
I hate how fashion advice always boils down to 'take what about yourself looks special and unique and make it average' Like, all fashion advice for short people is always how to make yourself look taller. I don't want to look taller, I just don't want to look like a 4th grader with hip pads.
I feel like your point about toe shapes is the exact opposite. If you have a rounded, more short figure, pointed shoes will not be harmonious and will look awkward. Pointy shoes are best for people who are already tall looking and slender.
For people with small feet wear small shoes and rounded bone structure can wear round shoes. Look into John Kitcheners essences. Avoid long shoes if you aren’t long. It makes the wearer look overwhelmed
the centered heel tip is so true, ive never been able to put my finger on exactly why stilettos are so uncomfortable for me when i have other high heels i wear everyday, but they all have centered heels :0
Can you do another video like this specifically on chunky heeled/block heeled boots? Sometimes it’s so hard to tell with those shoes how it’s centered or how it will feel. Thank you!
My feet are long and narrow and slightly dispropporcionate for my lenght so I avoid pointed shoes. I don't feel the elongating effect, only a pair of ginormous feet. Usually my legs look longer with just-below-the-knees heeled boot paired with mini skirtsn regardless of the shape of the toes. It is not even a trick, just the most classic fashion advice ever
Thats strange. It makes sense what she's saying but ive only ever been comfortable with heels towards the back. The centered ones make me feel like im wobbling around more, like its a balancing act to keep perfectly centered on my feet
I've thought the same. A tango instructor once told me that I walk on my heels too much instead of using my whole foot. Maybe that's why I'm more comfortable in shoes with heels towards the back?
It seems (based on personal experience) that if your center of balance is too far forward or back (as in your weight rests mostly on your heels or toes) these types of thinner or curved heels can be difficult or impossible to properly balance, let alone walk in. I walk pretty high on my toes, so chunky heels that go straight down are the only kinds of shoes I can properly balance in (or that distribute my weight properly).
Also, avoid wearing heels every day because then you will have foot problems when you’re old. Even a comfortable heel isn’t okay to wear all day/every day.
I agree but disagree. I am not slender whatsoever and have relatively small feet. Pointed toe shoes look horrible on me so i only wear rounded toe. Especially for bigger women I always find the pointed toes are clashing with the proportions
Can u do a video on sneakers…all the videos on sneakers are focused on men and they dont talk abt durability or comfort or which sneaker type would look flattering on who
Michael Kors has the most comfortable heels! I never used to shop with them because MK has kind of a "tacky" reputation, maybe due to their tendency to make dupes of higher end brands. But it's actually great quality for the price, specifically their leather items. I have several pair of pumps from them, that I've worn to the club and danced in for hours without pain! I do recommend putting regular Dove deodorant on your feet before wearing heels, the aluminum reduces friction and you won't get cut by your shoes, even if they're not broken in yet.
That's crazy, leather doesn't make your feet "breathe" any better than synthetic materials. Leather is also commonly lined with synthetic materials anyway. Disagree on pointy toe as well, it does not look good on curvy short women, because it's not organic to their constitution. Shoes are also not made wide enough for this part of the population! Fully agree on heel positioning.
The round toe thing is not true 😅 if you're very rounded overall (think marilyn monroe type) then pointy shoes will look unharmonious and weird af Always honor your lines, you don't want too stark of a contrast, it will just draw more attention to the things you don't like about your body. Don't work against your lines, work with them.
Omggggg that's why I hate pointed toe on me!! My toes are so long they have been called tingers (toe fingers lolol) my legs are also disproportionately long for my body (I'm 5'3 but my legs are as long as my 6ft bf because my torso is really short ack)
As someone with short legs, pointed heels don’t make my legs look longer, they make my feet look longer. I prefer a square toe. I find that it doesn’t change the appearance of foot length much at all. Round is good too. I prefer to balance my proportions rather than fight them, so I go for chunky shoes to balance my wide hips and shoulders without having to diminish their prominence.
I think a lot of these come down to opinion. I would much rather pay for shoes i like than ones that will be comfortable or last longer. They can last 1000 years but if i dont like them i still wasted money in the end
The centered heel is not as far back so the weight bearing part is center point of your leg if you look at in from a top-down bird’s eye view perspective. In contrast with the other kind where the heel is basically flush against back of shoe - in other words it’s farthest away from your toes as can be when you look at it from the side like how she was holding the shoe examples.
By "centered heel" she's talking about the heel of the shoe being specifically made to sit beneath where your heel will be when wearing the high heel. This is important because when you're wearing the shoes, that is where the weight of your body + whatever you're carrying will be balanced. The curved heel she shows curves in under the heel AND more closely mimics the way your body carries your weight when you're just walking normally; your foot still touches the ground first where the center of your heel is. Walking on the straight heel centered on the very back of your heel (and that's assuming your foot fits flush all the way to the back of that shoe) focuses the entire combined weight of you (+ your clothes + whatever you're carrying) and conducts the repeated shock of it hitting the ground all the way up to the back of your ankle instead, which will be sore from absorbing all that for however long you're wearing the shoes. This is bad even if your feet perfectly fit the "arch" of the shoe, the length of the shoe, and have no issues with your toes in the toe box at the front (which tends to be greatly reduced in pointed toe styles, most people avoid them because modern shoes don't leave enough room for people's toes to fit without deforming them eventually), BECAUSE ankles aren't made to absorb shock impact like that. That's why she's recommending the other heel shape over the straight one.
😂 I don't know why she decided to mention pointed shoe versus rounded what about people that have bunions or a wide foot. For personal experience I would always choose a shoe that has a wider front base versus a pointed toe. A pointed toe is going to narrow the foot, thus over time possibly worsening Foot and Ankle problems.
i have slender legs and feet and i always thought rounded heels weren't for me! like they look so doll-esque in shorter/fuller women but that doesn't translate to my long body
Also as someone who sold shoes for 6 months in a department store - look for glue leaking out of the soles and compare shoe brands especially sneaker foam and rubber with fast fashion shoes. Usually the foam on the fast fashion ones is not soft at all and is only for design, and same with plastic instead of rubber in boots. They're super uncomfortable and won't last and probably can't be fixed as easily.
These are great tips. I like wearing heels, but a lot of them are not comfortable for me to wear long term. It turns out I haven’t been buying the right pair of high heels that fits right. My feet are made funny so I always end up taking them off and wearing my flats instead. I don’t wanna have to sacrifice style for comfort and vice versa.
id rather die than have pointy witches toes on my teeny tiny feet (jk. theyre definitely not my style, but most of the reason i adamantly refuse is that have bunions so pointed or really tight toes that put inward pressure on my big toes are a no go. cant even try them on without pain. heels are already an only special occasion thing for the same reason, so theyve got to be ones i really like the look of, and long pointy toes are not it for me 😂)
Also my cousin told me the best way to get high heels is to go maybe half of a size larger. Especially if your getting boots where you’ll wear stockings or boot socks
And two pairs of the most comfortable heels I've ever worn were "LifeStride" brand. I wished they made their shoes in real leather, but they don't, and I wore out their shoes wearing them so often. These were heels I could wear all day.

Also I always buy leather due to the longevity or the fabric, it actually degrades in landfills and because it softens and conforms to your foot over time! (You also can get them repaired at a cobbler)
Also i do tend to wear shoes on the chunkier side because anything more dainty makes my feel look very small and makes my upper body appear way bigger
i absolutely hate how uncomfortable pointy tip shoes constantly are for my toes. it makes my toes feel trapped like if i’m wearing 10 pairs of socks inside a tennis shoe.
my first time disagreeing with you here but rounded toes always look better imo it looks more natural and is universally flattering pointed toes always look odd and make the feet look too long
FOOT HEALTH:
You forgot to mention that IF you get pointy shoes you should ALSO aim for a longer length so the toe box doesn't give you squished / bunion feet.
LASTLY, don't forget about some cotton, gel or refined leather slips that you can adhere to the BACK of the shoe to protect your Achilles Heel area AND on the BOTTOM of the FOOT, to prevent additional Sliding -- especially if you're a Go-Getter Salary Woman, go get stuff done SAFELY!
can you talk about shoe fashion trends and whether or not they’re worth buying?
square toes- they go away and come back every 30 years . don't buy them unless your toes are straight across - otherwise they look like duck feet shoes on your feet .
That was really helpful for me, regarding heel placement. Thank you!
Pointed toe looks good on almost no one with a size larger than 7.
Oh, also stuff that HASN'T held up well (looking at you, mostly modal cardigan)
Rounded toes make women's feet look smaller and more dainty which is desirable. I don't know ANY woman who wants to make their feet look bigger, regardless of how small their feet are.
People who have short legs and feet actually look best in rounded heels. It's harmonious with their rounded and dainty shape. People with long and wide legs look best in pointed heels while people with long and slender legs look best in box-toe/square-toed heels. ❤
I wore heels all my teens and twenties and now at 43 waiting to have foot surgery. Not worth it. I would say to never ever wear heels.
I really like rounded toe shoes, they look much more softer and more versatile
Also, please note balance & pressure are different for everyone's body types. For me it's much more comfortable to wear higher heels. Any day on 5cm, my back will hurt.
I hate how fashion advice always boils down to 'take what about yourself looks special and unique and make it average'
Like, all fashion advice for short people is always how to make yourself look taller.
As someone with small feet, Pointy shoes hurts my feet a lot and it may cause bunions so I prefer the rounded one.
For people with small feet wear small shoes and rounded bone structure can wear round shoes. Look into John Kitcheners essences. Avoid long shoes if you aren’t long. It makes the wearer look overwhelmed
Agree
the centered heel tip is so true, ive never been able to put my finger on exactly why stilettos are so uncomfortable for me when i have other high heels i wear everyday, but they all have centered heels :0
Can you do another video like this specifically on chunky heeled/block heeled boots? Sometimes it’s so hard to tell with those shoes how it’s centered or how it will feel. Thank you!
100% agree, never buy plastic shoes. My mother and grandmother drilled that into me!
Heel advice is EXCELLENT!
I appreciate this advice so much 🙏 ❤
this is what i was waiting for.. shoes content from you ❤
My feet are long and narrow and slightly dispropporcionate for my lenght so I avoid pointed shoes.
No wonder, I had been searching for the recommended kind of heels, cz these provided more comfort to my heels
I agree but disagree. I am not slender whatsoever and have relatively small feet. Pointed toe shoes look horrible on me so i only wear rounded toe. Especially for bigger women I always find the pointed toes are clashing with the proportions
Id love one on more casual comfy shoes
Saying "comfortability" is WILD
shoes with the heel behind your foot are the bane of my existence ToT
Can u do a video on sneakers…all the videos on sneakers are focused on men and they dont talk abt durability or comfort or which sneaker type would look flattering on who
I knew I followed you for a reason. I love wearing heels, but I could never find the right ones!
Leather shoes make my feet sweat. I wear Danskos for work . I wear them because they are good for my feet .
Going to keep a look out for heels that aren’t flushed with the back. Thanks!
I love this!!!! Please do more about shoes and heels❤❤it’s a struggle to find good shoes and heels if I don’t know what’s the best for my feet
I do recommend putting regular Dove deodorant on your feet before wearing heels, the aluminum reduces friction and you won't get cut by your shoes, even if they're not broken in yet.
i have a pair of heeled loafers from MK that i thrifted and they are perfect, literally a 10/10 shoe
This comment just made me feel so incredibly poor😭😭 like excuse me, since WHEN is Michael Kors not super high end???
my favorite heels are an absolute hell to walk in and theyre so painful after a while but goddamn theyre cool looking
Ooh this is a lesson I needed!
The round toe thing is not true 😅 if you're very rounded overall (think marilyn monroe type) then pointy shoes will look unharmonious and weird af
Always honor your lines, you don't want too stark of a contrast, it will just draw more attention to the things you don't like about your body. Don't work against your lines, work with them.
Thanks for the advice!
Brilliant advice!
Pointy toes are really bad for your feet and toes orthopedically. my doctor said to always go with either round or squared toes.
More shoe tips please!!
Omggggg that's why I hate pointed toe on me!! My toes are so long they have been called tingers (toe fingers lolol) my legs are also disproportionately long for my body (I'm 5'3 but my legs are as long as my 6ft bf because my torso is really short ack)
I'm the opposite of you. 5'4", butbwhen I wear "short" pants, I walk on the hems. When I sit, I'll be taller than people who are taller than me!
Thank you so much. Great advice
I've learnt something new about the heel placement
I have flat feet and this is super helpful!
My goodness, I just learned a whole new world
I don’t understand how anyone can wear pointed toes- they hurt my feet so much!
where was this footage? many cute options.
Lintervalle
As someone with short legs, pointed heels don’t make my legs look longer, they make my feet look longer. I prefer a square toe. I find that it doesn’t change the appearance of foot length much at all. Round is good too. I prefer to balance my proportions rather than fight them, so I go for chunky shoes to balance my wide hips and shoulders without having to diminish their prominence.
I think a lot of these come down to opinion. I would much rather pay for shoes i like than ones that will be comfortable or last longer. They can last 1000 years but if i dont like them i still wasted money in the end
I am determined to learn how to walk in heels this year so this is right on time!
Could you elaborate on the "centered heel"? not sure exactly what you mean.
Look at the images she shows
The centered heel is not as far back so the weight bearing part is center point of your leg if you look at in from a top-down bird’s eye view perspective.
Please can you review Country Road clothing brand???🙏
Vintage pumps are designed to have a natural curve and the heel is thick and more balanced from cirve to heel comfort.
I don’t wanna have to sacrifice style for comfort and vice versa.
id rather die than have pointy witches toes on my teeny tiny feet
(jk. theyre definitely not my style, but most of the reason i adamantly refuse is that have bunions so pointed or really tight toes that put inward pressure on my big toes are a no go. cant even try them on without pain. heels are already an only special occasion thing for the same reason, so theyve got to be ones i really like the look of, and long pointy toes are not it for me 😂)
Also my cousin told me the best way to get high heels is to go maybe half of a size larger. Especially if your getting boots where you’ll wear stockings or boot socks
Slender long foot and leg girl here 😅 I can't do pointy toes they make me look like a witch no matter what the outfit 😂
Now I have another thing to be picky about while shopping 😭
I hate pointed shoes
Not only because they are uncomfortable, but I don't like at all how they look on me.
And two pairs of the most comfortable heels I've ever worn were "LifeStride" brand. I wished they made their shoes in real leather, but they don't, and I wore out their shoes wearing them so often. These were heels I could wear all day.
