Overall the tv is great and I dont think people are here running their TVs through tests like these on a daily basis. All they want is best bang for their buck and this TV definitely hits all the marks. I had people recommend Sony X90J yeah you can keep that bulky tv for your bedroom or whatever. If you want a slick looking TV for your living room with a clean setup, this is it. Again, these guys are never happy

@@jkeith3586 So there definitely was an issue with the Hisense model I had. The suppliers replaced the tv and the replacement was far better. During that time I tried out the Q70 as well. At the end of the day the U8G did feel far superior. The picture quality and audio quality just seemed years ahead. I have gamed on the U8G and haven't had any complaints, games like it takes two, ori will of the wisps and stray looked absolutely stunning. I heard the 65inch has more dimming zones so they offer a better darkness to the 55inch and US and EU versions come with hdmi 2.1 ports but many other countries don't so keep that in mind

i bought 55q70a 7 months ago. when i first got it , it had little software issues. youtube icon in the menu was not working from time to time.
i called samsung call center , they told me to plug out power cable and hold onto power button for 30 seconds.
Anyways it didn't solve my problem, after some time the tv got 3 more updates now everything is okey.
My personel opinion is that software update on these TV's make huge difference , since image processing, picture quality and many other things uses artificial intelligence.

Picked up a Samsung Q70A for $800uds refurbished. Got the MicroCenter 2 year warranty for an extra $100usd. Bought the Q80A for the same price the year before. Both are 75 inches. Very pleased with both TVs. So much so i bought a Q80A 65 inch for $650usd refurbished, as well. I had an old Samsung (10 years old) and thought it had a nice picture. But, after retiring it to the guest bedroom with a blue like running vertically through it, I can say that I am amazed at the huge gain in picture quality. Hope they last as long as my old Samsung.
P.S. I agree, the sound quality is terrible. But, nothing a 2.1 Klipsch computer speaker system can not rectify.

I’m not an expert but please can you explain to me the following: Q70A has Native Contrast 7,398: 1, Sony X90J with local dimming has 6,221: 1. So base on that your conclusion for movies assessment is that Sony gives a better contrast ratio caused by local dimming and you give a better assessment on it. I can accept other arguments like “Upscaling” and “Removes judder from all sources”.

So I’m deciding btwn the q80t (2020) & q70a (2021). I believe these r the correct release dates??? I”m looking into the 75” version over the 65” i currently have now & will be around 10-12’ feet away on my couch & on a console stand (not wall mounted). I’m only concerned because i believe the q70a was released after the q80t but confused since the 80 should be an upgrade from the 70 i would think!? I do game with the latest xbox console & i believe they both have 120hz. I would love the Neo but those r out of my price range even though i could get the 65” version but rather go big! However the Q’s r a step above the UHD’s. They’re priced very close so would love any input & advice. I also watch a lot of live sports if that helps. I also go w the Samsungs over the LG OLED since most of my surroundings r on the brighter side. Thanks in advance since I’m looking to purchase asap. Thanks again!!!

The Samsung Q80T is a bit better overall than the Samsung Q70/Q70A QLED. While it has a lower contrast ratio as a result of its 'Ultra Viewing Angle' layer, it also has a local dimming feature to improve black levels, while the Q70A doesn't.
Unfortunately, the Q80T suffers a bit when in 'Game Mode', as the local dimming and HDR brightness perform worse. Still, it has a slightly quicker response time, so motion looks clear. It also delivers a better HDR experience overall since it gets brighter than the Q70A in HDR.
One other thing to consider though, is that we have received some reports about the Q80T having visible stuttering and judder when watching sports via cable TV. If you do go with the Q80T and watch sports via cable, just make sure to try them out early and if there is noticeable issues, you can return the TV and exchange it for the Q70A.

@@RTINGSdotcom thanks so much for ur input! So I’ve now decided to perhaps downgrade to a 65” rather than the 75” (but not 100%) since I can get a better tv for the $$$. But regardless on size I’m now looking into the Q80a vs QN85a Neo. Then there’s the Q90t to throw into the mix but rather go w a 2021 model (“a”). So yes i do watch a lot of live sports but game as well on the newer Xbox system. These 3 TVs r a few hundred dollars btwn them so I don’t mind spending the extra $$$. Thanks again in advance!!!

    • @RTINGSdotcom
      @RTINGSdotcom  3 года назад +2

Depending on what you're looking for, the Q70A would probably be our suggestion. The Q80A has an ADS panel, which has much wider viewing angles. It also gets significantly brighter in HDR, so highlights stand out the way they should. However, the Q70A has a VA panel with a much better contrast ratio and improved black uniformity. Even though the Q80A has a full-array local dimming feature, which the Q70A doesn't have, the Q70A is better for dark room viewing due to its higher contrast.

I bought this TV in Jan,2022 and within a week I started getting clicking noise from the panel. I reported this issue with Samsung support team and their mechanic came multiple times but couldn't fix the proble.
    Rootcause:
TV back panel is connected with the front panel via hooks and metal strings. When TV heats up metal panels expands which pushes the back panel and makes noise.
You can hear the noise even after TV switch off because panel contracts and starts pulling the panel. They said its a mechanical problem in the TV and it can't be fixed.
They tried changing the panel but it didn't help.
So my suggestion is don't buy this model. It will definetly have this problem. If you still want to buy then buy it from local store where you can easily return otherwise you will stuck in same loop as I am. Samsung sent mechanic 4 times but they couldn't fix the problem. They changed the panel and it is slightly curved horizontally. Now I am fighting with them to fix noise plus curved issue. I tried to return this TV but they are not accepting my refund request.

The Samsung uses a VA panel, which means it has better contrast and black uniformity (so, it's a better fit for dark room viewing). Generally speaking, IPS panels tend to be a bit better for bright rooms but in this case the brightness and reflection handling is very similar between both models. So, the biggest difference then becomes viewing angles. So if viewing angles aren't important to you, and you'll be using it in a darker room (even sometimes), then definitely go for the Samsung. Not sure unfortunately. We haven’t bought and tested it since it isn’t available for purchase in the US yet. Without having our own data we just can’t comment on performance. Sorry about that!
