Thank you very much for this short the long ones you have to sit through and sometimes you dont always remember that one thing he said that one time because it was 5 minutes into an hour long talk but this is that one thing we all needed to hear and remember!

As a person that thinks alot then talking to my own self is sometimes not worth it, will drain my energy
The mind can be your best friend
Th mind can be your worst enemy
The mind is a faithful servant but a horrible master.
The mind is both: your enemy and your best friend. Luckily it can’t decide what to be, but just obey orders from your superior “I”
A comment from someone with an untrained mind. Meditation practice is the path to that. Yuttadhamo bikkinu, how to meditate. RUclips. Your comment comes from your thinking being in charge instead of just not allowing stories to develop. Thoughts go down the river and disappear.

Well, one would not be a very formidable enemy, if they did not know their enemy.
I've started talking to myself because i have no one else to talk to, but I like my own company.

Same here, I talk to myself all the time, always have, but also I have no one to talk to .
My own company doesnt thieve it doesnt yell or swear it doesnt get upset and it always meows what to say errm knows? 😅

True. I over analyze everything and have constant inner commentary on the external happenings and it takes all the joy of being present in the moment away.
“I over analyze everything.” Most of us do. It’s the modern day human condition. Instead of fighting off lions, tigers and bears for survival. We’re left with fighting our thoughts… for survival.
@@MC-fp5rrgreat comment
@@MC-fp5rr what survival, the overthinking really is the course of all unhappiness, people are better without over analyzing
His voice is combination of wisdom and calmness. Just great ❤
Now I'm thinking about not thinking
😂Me2😂
That is the first step

Even in sleep, thoughts continue as dreams, images. The mind is a non-stop chatting radio!
Usually only in REM sleep. In deep sleep we aren’t usually dreaming so there is at least some time when humans are not visualising, dreaming etc.
Thinking when necessary is good. But Being, whenever possible is great!
Yes. I agree

The question is if you are wasting your time with what your minds thinks 🙏
So cool to see young Alan Watts 💙
Man I love Alan Watts 👌🏼
Bruv, Alan Watts always hits me.
With energy
and yet you choose to stay with him smh typical
It reminds me of something I read: Talking to yourself is not madness, but answering yourself is.
I answer myself sometimes when I'm alone. I find dialogue, even to myself, can be helpful. My thoughts will race, so it's hard to focus, dialogue sets a pace, and keeps me focused. Then again, I might only be proving your point 😂

Thank you this is very healthy & helpful
I have to remind myself to take some time to "just BE".
Alan watts always blows my mind.
Try and live life, self sufficient. Wards are only concepts. Your downfall is to engage. Make your home a paradise and your palace. People sleep average 8 hours. Don’t spare any expense on a bed. Your defence is to run away.

Even if thinking about things I wont ever fully understand drives me insane I still will, my thoughts are the only thing I know and my brain is wired to pursue them
I love what you said. I read your comment a few times. I'm going to write it down so I don't forget it. ❤❤
It's such an interesting point of view while everyone is telling us to turn our brains off. I can't turn my thoughts off yet and have been feeling frustrated trying lately. Your comment brings me peace about it. Ty. ❤
Starting my meditation journey soon..it is real important for own mental peace specially for over thinkers like me who already had trauma from past

🕉 Namaste 🤍
It's so hard to meditate. I've tried many times but with having ADHD its 1.) Hard to not think/ keep my thoughts from racing and/or focus on something like my breathing and 2.) Develop any new skills or habits. I honestly dont know how any other ADHDers develop any new habits because every year I get older I realize how much I fall behind in life because of this very issue 😢 and all I want to do now is try and meditate.
Do you have any advice?
Count your breaths. Count to ten out breaths -start again. In 3 weeks you should start to get quiet.
@@elizabethbird5929what about counting ? You will think the numbers in your head in order to count so how can that be quiet?
@@MrMrPopols When you're able to reach 10 outbreaths, all else becomes quiet. That's how it starts. It still takes intention, attention, & practice to get to full quiet.
That sounds great right about now
And this is the reason I want to sleep all the time
Same… it’s exhausting to think so much.
Sleep is a mini-death, choose life.

I love Mr Alan Watts. He has helped me very much.
Felt proud when he took our country's name as a good example 🇮🇳❤️
Why?
u see the allat of india bro such a disgusting place im fmr there lol. im glad i was born im in the UK last 40 years
Not any Chinese and Japanese said this thing.. but someone from eastern takes Indian's name, they get orgasm
I'm such an overthinker. No idea how to stop analysing every situation or regretting the past or being anxious about the future. It's horrible. It's so hard to stay in the present.
Find your own comfortable places and you'll know what I mean.
Meditation helps really. It's simply practicing being in the present
It's called meditation. It gives us access to pure consciousness, which creates our reality.
The answer is always going to be Love

Thank you for keeping the works (words) of Mr. Alan Watts alive & thriving 🌼
My pleasure! Thanks for watching 🙏
So true. And it can leave you feeling euphoric if you can really let go.
He put his message into words so well, ironically.
Yeah also true , but simply nice.
So true, I love Alan Watts. I'm someone who's isolated an when I reach out I'm hurt an disappointed by peoples judgements. I vent out loud, thinking "better out than held in " but find its a repetition of negativity.. going nowhere. I have to consciously try to stop, an adopt a better way of solution .
Edit - I'm only venting to myself when I'm alone. (I thought I should make that clear 😅)
Now the words of a former employer of mine "i don't pay you to think", "you're not here to think" get a whole new meaning 😅 everything for a reason
The military is the opposite. They don't want you to think.
❤❤❤❤ Totally love this man.
Great man that voice
Wisdom is better than rubies understanding rather than choice silver
oriental knew this 2 thousands years ago!! they practced meditation with the goal to have an EMPTY MIND. being present only in what we are doin now. ciao
That voice and content...the delicate delivery...a dream of human being...❤
Yes I AM 🥲 grateful for the energy that I AM 🥲
I AM 🥲 manifesting through my thought's and my action's
How true this is.
This is directly conected to what you eat.
And there are many tools to distance you from your mind. You're not your mind 🙏
Shunryu Suzuki Roshi "To stop your mind (to let the mind be silent) does not mean to stop the activities of mind. It means your mind (sentience) pervades your whole body." page 41 "Zen Mind, Beginner Mind" Letting everything settle to the level of bodily felt sensation can give us a global sensation of the entire body. This we can call the beginning of presence. Simple presence that is associated with the physical body but over time can reveal that it is not limited to the physical form in fact simple presence is non-phenomenological. In a sense we learn to arrive where the body already is. At first we learn whole body awareness then we may eventually discover that awareness is not limited to the form of the body. This form of the body is only given to us as an experience or appearance due to the outer six senses. If we 'drop in' and allow a felt sense of simple presence, we are opening to and being receptive to presence which can reveal itself to include the appearance of the physical form and also not necessarily be limited to the form. The body appears as form but in its more subtle aspect it is presence; it is the matrix of all divine possibility that to the outer senses appears in form here in this world we know as a world of separate bodies. However we may may discover that 'this world' is what appears to the mode of our perception that is developmental and we have implicitly learned that tells us: "I am 'in here' in this separate body and everything else is 'out there' as a world I see as all sorts and sizes of separate bodies including other people as well as all objects including such bodies as the sun, moon and galaxies etc.
Thank you for this. May I ask you where is it from? Book? Alan Watts?

Why daily meditation is wonderful
I talk to myself not out of madness but because I'm having a board meeting... I'm self-employed.
He is talking about spirituality
@@dr.sohinichakraborty7298 should I start dancing? I know what he's talking about
Thinking just happens. There’s nobody there thinking or not thinking.
And here I am playing shorts and videos all day thinking I'm going to learn something new today.
yes i m from India we are told to never think just do work and meditate your mind through god or exercise or yoga
Man is incredible !!
I did this since I can remember and I don’t really perceive reality like others do. It’s like it closes your conscious perception of reality.
The only time I really feel like I’m experiencing reality is shortly after meditation or when I’m high af on weed
Truth never gets old
Learning his knowledge is what I would like to do
Brand new ideas are born in a quiet mind.
Negation is the highest form of thinking..
No thought, no emotion.
Perfect emptiness, yet there in something is moving... Seeking it's own course..
This is the way of the spirit.
how does one not think though? there’s no solitude in this crowded world we live in. way too many things interfering with that peace of mind we all so desperately need.
Gratitude and love are my thoughts AMAP.
Makes necessary the prioritization of training language into an articulate reflex.
My psy told me exactly this yesterday
How could i stop thinking
I talk to myself every day I say what would you like for breakfast and so on
More than a couple of times in the early 60's I had Sunday school teachers, even school teachers warning against meditation, because an empty mind is the devil's playground.. sort of like the old trope "idle hands are the devil's workshop". Yoga was a big no-no.. almost blasphemy. They didn't like any notions that might rival wordy prayer and "the gospel". They were definitely trying to counter the counterculture.
@suits334 yeah, doesn't take conspiracies.. more like a zeitgeist thing.. despite also being told to "be still and know that i am god"
I've thought about this and I think I understand what Alan is getting us to think about ❤
This video really gives you something to think about

Just do what he says don’t think about it. R.I.P Mr Watt’s.
If you don't think at all, you will be miserable.
@@GrubKiller436he did not say to not think at all. And also speaking from my experience, what he's saying is kind of real because I used to think all day long for 24/7. And you know what? It hurts my brain so much from this constant overthinking. Not to mention it takes your brain energy alot, idk about physical or body energy though. Combined with all of the education for half of the day. That's why I've always been tired all day long back in the day combined with frustation for any other reason. Maybe I also did that on purpose just so I can get very tired easily and my brain will be able to shutdown immediatly because that's all what I really wanted.
But now I'm able to let it go and just empty my head for maybe a hours. I just did all of that for my very own brain condition sake
SIR❤THANK YOU VERY MUCH.
I finally understand my own thoughts😅
I was just thinking about most of these words late at night. Damn!
The silence reveals to you alot of things
I never had a problem with my thinking. Why not let it be. It's there, its a part of my body, part of me. Why fight it? Why produce this conflict in oneself. Just watch me thinking even if its rubbish is more fun, than fight the thinking or try to change it or try it to cease.
Verrrrry relatable
This truth should be a human right!!!
I like to think (the irony 😂) that there is a warehouse with an infinite number of thoughts, and you, as your Real Self, can choose which one to engage and which one allow to enter in your mind.
But always realizing that they are not you, they are like an ornament you put to experience that reality.
Interesting advice. I'll have to think about it.
Alan♥
We have great conversations. I don't see the problem.
What a mind
Have an open mind.
Just not so open it falls out.

Now that I know what the word “reality” truly means, I can stomach and appreciate this man’s words. #ACIM

No one can stop or control thought.
Thought is a metaphoric stream to tune into.
Thought is energetic with either polarity.
Great one

That is interesting, I feel tho too as if in some ways we don't think enough or we are far more distracted by what we r subjected to, or subject ourselves to through a societies pressures , or from personal lineage .. so much so wherever u are . May hinder us to where we can't see the truths of the world ..
I’m looking forward to the dubstep drop of that closing statement. Untapped potential.
Constant thinking of a project is not madness ,bit consnstant thinking of drama ia madness and weakness
Yes!!

Thinking, because of things to have to do around the house!! My mind want be silent, talking to mydelf id from noone to talk to,,, bullcrap,, about madness, moving on!!
I prefer being a listener in conversations, but I have no friends, so I talk to myself, because I'd rather have something said, than not hear anything at all, even if it means I have to talk.
