Unfortunately a guy at the clock shop cut a corner and oiled it with black dry grease in the pivots they offered to do a full overhaul for free I accepted
I actually have 3 of Welch and my “Cowper” model is definitely from the 1880’s since it has large gong base and smaller gong base looking more refined are newer. Sessions movement for kitchen clocks are compatible for most of Welch clocks and currently one of them in my “Dexter” model by Welch.
That’s how it was with my Seth Thomas Sentinel. There was a few bushings that were so worn that I’m surprised it worked at all. These American clocks are tanks.
I just got done working on a Welch Kitchen clock that was time strike only with alarm. Was a little difficult getting the movement back together after cleaning and changing a main spring.
Was 330 dollars I purchased it on sale for 200 they gave it a slight discount for my birthday so actually 189 dollars
Beautiful clock and great looking movement!👍

Looks to be in amazing condition (mechanically and case)
@@samsclocks2084 I’m shocked it’s running with how worn the first wheel to the escape wheel was on the back the gear was literally moving

I agree Mike they can be quite troublesome
