Mae totally misunderstood what Mother Aniseya was saying about fear and sacrifice,
my interpretation is that Aniseya was saying that Mae and Osha "sacrifice" a part of themselves such as giving up a personal want to grow into leaders of the Coven, as well as giving up fear, not letting fear influence them.
Mae misquoted Aniseya in saying "everyone must be sacrificed" when that isn't what Mother Aniseya said at all.
Mother Aniseya was shadow teleporting and Sol over-reacted.

If we got this episode in the beginning, we would be going the whole show knowing what happened and watching Sol wanting to tell Osha. This now proves that Sol and Torbin are mostly at fault. Sol has lied on so many levels, actively chose Osha over Mae. Tobin was so easily manipulated and his eagerness to leave is what kicked off the catastrophe, Indara is the one is created the lie for Mea and hid everything from the council (which is a theme in this whole show). I actually understand Mea more because she watched Sol kill the mother while unarmed. Plus, the fire was destroying the power lines around the door. That seems to be what set off the major explosions.

We know that Qimir desires a Padawan, and if he knew these girls had that much power in them, that's exactly the kind of Padawan he might want. Maybe the whole danger around the girls that Sol sensed was just Qimir. He could have taken advantage of the mistakes the Jedi made. Realistically, he could have just stood by and then grabbed a padawan falling from the sky. Or he could have thrown wood on the fire, the explosions were quite numerous, at one point exploding all over the place. When Sol confronted Qimir in episode 5, we know he sensed something familiar. Perhaps Qimir is not connected to the Order, at least when Sol was there, but he felt the same danger as he did on Brendok.

Given exactly WHAT Sol saw -- Aniseya "attacking" the children in particular -- it's understandable that he feared for the girls' safety. And then when Korril readied herself to strike at Torbin, he saw Aniseya disintegrating into smoke and taking Mae with her, so it's understandable that he misread what she was doing. What WE see is slow-motion, but for him it would have been happening incredibly fast. He acted on instinct to protect the child.
It is interesting to me, though, that he misidentified Mae as Osha in the moment she came calling to her mothers for help.

It seems the council was right both times. Mae and Osha resulted in a dozen Jedi being killed by Qimir; and Obi-Wan following Qui Gon's request, which resulted in Anakin being manipulated by Palpatine (Darth Sidious), and becoming Darth Vader. The council was trying to forsee the long-term outcome. In each case, individuals took the course that altered those favorable outcomes and resulted in the eventual decline of the Jedi.

Thanks to Robert and Vanessa! 🌑 The "we must be sacrificed" misquote little 'Mae' relayed to 'Indara' and 'Sol' had a huge impact. They literally thought the girls would be sacrificed. 'Aniseya' actually said, "It is about sacrificing a *part* of ourselves". 🔸 It's also wild to learn that 'Sol' was imposing his own wants (to have a Padawan... even though he might not be ready) onto the situation... and he even almost lost his temper on 'Indara' at the end. That shows a very un-Jedi-like conflict that adds to his motivations. 🔸 Ms. Headland says she doesn't like ending a series on a cliffhanger, so she made sure to end this one in a satisfying way. Hopefully, we'll feel that next week.

This was a series of fuck ups.🙃
Sol: let his prejudice over the coven bring the Jedi to meddle and investigate them.😐
Torbin: gets so afraid after being mind controlled than goes ballistic over the possibility of leaving the place using Osha and Mae as evidence of a vergence.😳
Toril: also goes ballistic. Inciting Mae to attack Osha and she was likely the one who put the fortress into self destruction mode. Her smile while she disappeared was most telling.😳
Mae: she did started a fire but lost control of it and she also incited the witches to fight.😲
Aniseya: she was way too passive and lost control of both Mae and Torill, and the coven in the process. 😳
Sol: fucks up again by confusing Aniseya's gesture as one of attacking while Torbin and Korill are facing each other.😨
Kelnacca: learns nothing from Torbin's failure and end up mind controlled. Forcing Torbin and Sol to hold their hits until Indara arrives to undo the mind control, killing the dozens of witches that were controlling them.😨
Indara: After being the voice of reason before and right after Sol finally comes to his senses she decides the best course of action is to hide the evidence and use Osha as a excuse?😨
And Let's not forget that Toril likely rescued Mae and led her to her revenge path with the Sith Qmir. After all there was no one else on the planet.😱

Torbin and Sol gave into their fear and desires. I understand why the Jedi did what they did, but they used Osha's feelings as an excuse. They didn't want to face the consequences of their action. As Palpatine told Anakin, all who hold power are afraid to lose it. The council would have punished them all for this failure.

  • @dygz
    @dygz 22 дня назад

But they did show us different perspectives of the same incident.
I didn’t mind seeing the same scenes again with more filled in.
We were intended to hold out hope that this Jedi team were complete saints and empathize with Osha’s perspective for as long as possible and for Mae’s motivation to be a mystery for as long as possible.
Kelnacca’s death hits harder when we don’t know why Mae would want to kill him. And it helps us anticipate that maybe Mae is driven by corruption from the Dark Side and entirely a mission from her Master, rather than Qimir just showing her a way a non-Jedi way to harness power.
Were intended to think of Qimir as a Sith who of course wants to destroy all Jedi. But… now we can see that’s not really the case.
Or at least not quite the case.
Qimir was not really using Mae to kill Jedi. Qimir was teaching Mae his personal style of wielding the Force to help her fulfill her own vendetta.
Qimir has no qualms about killing Jedi if they threaten him (or Mae), but it’s not the same thing as a pure EVIL Sith motivation.
Seeing this after Teach/Corrupt definitely changes my interpretation of that episode from my perception that Qimir was completely motivated by a desire to corrupt Osha. Now it seems like he was “honestly” just trying to teach her a non-Jedi method of harnessing the Force.
Kind of similar to the Witches.
I also like having a suspicion, for several episodes, that maybe Indara is as culpable as Sol is or as Torbin feels he is.
Once Torbin drinks the tincture Mae gave him, we surmise that Indara’s entire team might have done something wrong. Though it seems as though Sol only has good intentions. And we kind of hope Kelnacca only had good intentions.
Better to delay that resolution until after Qimir’s attempted seductions of Osha.
And delay the revelation that the whole team does not equally share the blame nor should they all equally feel guilt over what transpired.
Also, having repeated scenes in a later episode does save me the effort of reviewing a previous episode to see how all the pertinent scenes match up.
This flow of info keeps us firmly grounded in Osha’s perspective, rather than Mae’s perspective.
We’ll have to see how Osha learns the full truth.

Episode 7 was another plot disaster. The entire story has plot holes like a Swiss cheese. Two examples (of many) in episode 7, Sol used the force to hold the two parts of the broken bridge the girls were standing on until he gave up and sacrificed May. Why the hell didn't he just hold the two girls with the Force and let the bridge collapse? If I was a jedi, I would have come up with the idea, obviously not the script writers. Then the weird fight where the witches kept firing knives at Torban, all of which he fended off, but not one of them at Sol or Trinity. Does that make sense? Not to me. The whole show is completely amateurishly realised and in this episode we've seen at least 50% of what was in a previous episode. So my final question: Where did the budget of 160M USD go?
