    I know this video is 4 years old, and you will probably never see this comment, but if I could hug your neck, I would. I'm A 68 year old female who now has a running generator. And all the thanks goes to you for making such a detailed video. May God bless you and yours.

      Hi Marie, I can confirm the hug has been felt!
      Thank you for you kind words I haven't made videos lately but I do check comments and questions from time to time.
      I might have explained it! but you performed the repair with both of your hands and you should be proud!
      now, remember to always run it out of fuel and drain the carb when not in use.
      -Jonathan

    My Honda 3000 had been running somewhat poorly for a few weeks and yesterday it started running so rough it would die under a load. I watched your video, followed your instructions and managed to successfully clean the carburetor. Now she purrs like a kitten again. Thank you very much!

    This helped me a bunch. The EU3000is was sputtering ....
    I checked the spark arrestor - the last guy who fixed it did not replace it.
    oh, and the filter from the sediment filter was not there either ...
    I was nervous, so only removed the main jets and blew them out with a can of air.
    This was the stress for my whole weekend.
    It is purring right now.
    The spark plug had to be brushed out .... and it was not easy to get in or out ...

      @@flyingdiscproductions if you can tell me more about the generator i may be able to get a better picture and lead you in the right direction.
      for example how long it's been sitting before you worked on it?
      did it have old gas in the tank?
      last service?
      did it run smooth after you cleaned the jets?
      lastly I see you mentioned that you cleaned the jets with compressed air. the problem with that is that you cant see where the fluid is or isn't coming out from. carb cleaner is highly effective due to the fact that it dissolves ethanol deposits within the tiny holes. I suggest you follow every step in this video including removing the carb and cleaning the body same way I did. since it doesn't run at all what can you loose? best of luck.

    Great video, thank you! My only recommendation is to use actual carburetor cleaner. I don't think it's a good idea to be using brake cleaner (pure acetone) in any carb. Carb cleaner isn't that expensive and I don't think you would need to worry about any of the o-rings with it.

    • @flyingdiscproductions
      @flyingdiscproductions 4 года назад

      are you saying that the "brake cleaner" in the spray can is "pure acetone"?

    • @immortalengines1605
      @immortalengines1605  3 года назад +2

      @@flyingdiscproductions Neither Brake clean or carb clean should be used when rubber o-rings are present in the carburetor. using carb clean does not make it safe on the rubber components. we always pulled the o-rings out before cleaning the carb. needle valve, pilot jet, and fuel bowl o-rings should be removed. rom personal experience i don't see much of a difference between carb clean and brake clean only the price.

      Sorry to hear that. if its still too tight after the soak. grab a stove lighter and flip the carb upside down and hit the jet with the flame for a few minutes then try again. metals expand with heat and that might break the bond between the brass jet and aluminum carb. of course be very carful not to burn yourself. if this video was helpful feel free to hit the Sub Button :)

    Thanks for this, gave me the confidence to do it myself. Before reinstalling the carb I want to replace the filter "straw" that sticks up into the fuel tank. Is it possible to remove the petcock from the bottom of the tank without removing all of the panels? I'm hoping the petcock will come out and I can just pull the straw down and insert a new one. I can't find video of anyone actually removing this part. Thanks!

    Your video was really helpful. I have a EU3000is that someone gave me and it wouldn't start. And it was completely full of old gas. I emptied the old gas and cleaned out the carb and it started easily but sputtered when idling and died when I put a minimal load on it.
    I cleaned the carb again but the second time it looked pretty good still. Same result.
    It smoothes out when I pull out the choke halfway. With 1/2 choke it is running great and even with heavy load.
    Any thoughts?

      the Gunk kind of glues it in place. if you remove the main jet again open the choke and with a flat screw driver push the nozzle down. then tap the carb on a hard surface covered by a cloth. it should come out. those tiny holes need cleaning if it's too stuck to come out. and don"t forget to subscribe to help the channel grow!

      Yes grab a flathead screwdriver and insert it where the choke butterfly is or the throttle. you should see the little tube sticking out in the center of the carburator, push it down with the screw driver then tap the caburator until it falls off. also feel free to subscribe to the channel :)

    hey good video, did the eco mode work properly after installing the carb, on mine i have the eco mode not working after installing carb. it was working before i took it off and cleaned it up. i have an eu3000is ser.# ezgf-1346605. Any suggestion on fixing the eco mode or do you have any videos on it. all videos on carb installations with eco mode don't talk about the eco mode, how to get it working properly again, won't kick up after it kicks down to low idle. Is it a screw adjustment or rear flap on carb. sticking

    After putting it back together it required a lot of choke to keep it from surging. It ran great with 2/3rds choke out warm. What did I do wrong? It wasn’t running at all before so gunked up. At least now it runs. Any ideas?

    • @immortalengines1605
      @immortalengines1605  3 года назад

      Yes do you have proper fuel flow when you disconnect the fuel hose and open the fuel valve? there is a screen under the valve to collect sediment id its too clogged it can starve the generator of fuel. and last it isn't uncommon that the smaller pilot jet on the outside needs cleaning more than once try poking though it with a wire strand and see how it goes.

    I have same generator. Two years old and maybe 12 hours total use on it. My carb got gummed up and it wouldn’t start. I Took it to the Honda dealer and they told me it’s cheaper just to replace the carb than try to clean it and troubleshoot it. Either way, the bottom line is unless you run your generator at least once a month you will have problems. Even if you use stabilizer in your gas and turn the gas off and run it dry, the carb still will gum up. He says if you let it sit for more than two weeks you should drain the carb. My generator is for emergency power supply and seldom is used. I learned my lesson and now have alerts on my phone to run it every month. You would think for $2500 Honda could produce a generator that didn’t need to be run every two weeks. My Walmart Mtd snowblower sits for 7 months at a time and starts every winter no problem.
    Anyway, thanks for the video.

    Main jet would not unscrew. Took top white plastic piece off and spring fell from somewhere? Any suggestions.

    • @immortalengines1605
      @immortalengines1605  4 года назад

      try applying heat to the aluminum surrounding the jet and try to unscrew it carefully not to burn yourself. if you found the little spring it belongs to the arm connecting the stepping motor to the throttle shaft. the spring fits in betwen 2 plastic pieces. (make sure to try to refit ithe spring inside a big ziplog bag as its flies out extreemely easy)
      in my tutorial there is no need to remove the white plastic bracket for the stepping motor for this exact reason.

    • @dsam7302

      Immortal Engines ok thx for the quick response, i thought thats where the spring goes. I will try some heat but the jet screw is getting stripped.

    • @immortalengines1605

      @@dsam7302 Just before you heat it up place your screw driver on the jet screw while the carb is on a wooden surface and hit the screw driver with a hammer. This could do 2 things. One make a dent on the jet good enough to get better grip and 2and it might break the bond loose. Then after that heat and try to remove. This will give you the best shot at it. I just picked up a eu3000 for $300, runs for 3-4 seconds before dying. Will be doing a carb clean following your instructions and a full service. When i peeked down the spark plug hole, i see a lot of carbon build up on the piston. What do you recommend to remedy carbon buildup? Thanks for your help!

    • @immortalengines1605
      @immortalengines1605  4 года назад

      wow great find! What I do about carbon build up is remove the cylinder head and wire brush the piston and head itself. however doing that on the Eu3000Is is a huge pain! I would say clean the carb flush the tank and clean the sediment bowl by the fuel valve then make sure it has oil when you go to fire it up let it run for 3-5 minutes then do an oil change while the oil is warm. also don't forget to subscribe!

      SEAFOAM!!!!!!! Seafoam is made to clean the carbon deposits. Watch some other videos about seafoam if you want. But I use it in ALL our vehicles now. Fuel economy went back up 10%-25% on EVERY vehicle. (all over 200k miles, this will NOT make a huge difference in a new car.)

    I'll be simply replacing the carb for the unit I'm working on. So heavily varnished. The bowl was really bad; a little spray would not clean that. I couldn't get the main jet to unscrew... stripped the head... now some brass particle in it cuz the carb cleaner won't spray through and compressed air won't either. I probably messed up on that screw cuz my screwdriver wasn't a perfect fit and it surely needed to be to overcome the bond. I see carb prices anywhere from 35-65 bucks. Are all carbs the same for the last 20 years on the EU3000is? (Another weird thing -- there was no oil in this unit. I don't think it ever ran... just been sitting. Think they tried to put some gas in there... it wouldn't start cuz of low oil shutoff protection... and left the fuel in there for who knows how long.) Here is how to spell carb: carburetor.

    • @immortalengines1605
      @immortalengines1605  4 года назад +1

      Highly likely it was not used then. thanks for catching my misspelling I can't believe it went unnoticed for that long. I suggest you go to parts tree and enter your Generator serial Number and buy an Original Honda Carb for your unit. you can reuse the stepper motor for it no prob there.
