I’ve never wanted a 911 more than I do now having watched this. This is way out of my price range. This resto mod is so beautiful and interesting. The sound is awesome. And I’d love to have one for a long weekend. Maybe I’ll get a Porsche one day. Thanks for another passionate video Jonny.
This. Precisely this. In a world where cars are growing in power, but also in size and weight, that they less suited to our roads and car parks (that aren't changing size). The future for restomods remains bright, and new cars ought to begin shrinking and simplifying.
I had a 911 and did 100mph every time I took it out. With just 250 odd hp it was still quick enough to reach that speed and slow down to legal speed without any drama or concern. Now with 400hp that transition only becomes faster.
The Targa is the only 911 I want. It’s the general users choice imo. Who can really use any of the others. So, going moderately fast, looking good, this is the best choice.
So great to see my BEL001 in the background. I own a few nice cars (we should chat Johnny) but I have to say the Theon is VERY special. These cars make the new cars (Porsche included) sedate in comparison, at least at reasonable road speed. They are so joyful.
Classy build. I'm not a Porsche guy really, but I'd take something like this any day over any of the current crop of super cars where you can only enjoy a tiny portion of their capability anywhere but a track
I think Theon has elevated the restomod game above what Singer has done by 1) capturing the true ethos of the 911 2) making each of them bespoke to the owner and 3) frankly the interior, paint work and other details are just better. Can't get enough! great video
That's a spectacular car and I couldn't be less bothered by it. It's hard to believe that we've reached the point where there are so many reviews of restomoded 911s that it doesn't feel special anymore.
Christ, take my money… (if I had that much). Instantly into my ‘if I ever won the lottery’ list alongside one of those Ford Escorts from that place in Wales.
I'm not a restomod or a particular Porsche fan but you can't argue with the looks of classic 911s, even if for nostalgia reasons (an early '80s child here). Great production and music on your latest videos too - keep up with the nice work!
Another cracking episode - I had not heard of Theon before, Jonny. This is sublime especially in Targa format. What a gorgeous car. If my numbers came up, I’d join the queue for one in white, with green and orange cloth tartan with tan leather bolsters. It would be my only Porsche…
What craftsmanship like this does for and adds to the Porsche brand, experience and preservation of the original spirit and heritage should not be underestimated.
Such a gorgeous car, loved all the little details especially the engine bay Those sounds were just perfect. Also recognised those roads, great for nipping around. If I win the lottery I know where I'll be going 💛
What amazing 911’s so much more appealing than the latest 911’s. If I had the capital to buy a bespoke targa from these people, I would in a heartbeat. Another great video Mr Smith, thank you!
I'm suffering from Porsche fatigue these days. As great as they are, they seem to be everywhere so I don't get as excited as I used to. Anyway it's still a good video to watch on a Sunday night.
Great work. Today I’ve watched an RWB 964 transformation by Dino DC (also yellow) and now this one. Two 964s going in different directions but both spectacular in their intention.
Singer have their name well and truly established out there, so it has been interesting to sample a UK contender. Plus, Theon make far less cars than Singer these days...
@TheLateBrakeShow even though they have an established name do you personally believe they warrant their prices being at least double that of Theon they? When you look at the exclusivity of a Theon over a Singer and think about prices, surely a Theon is an absolute bargain I reckon.
Great car, subtle, neat engineering which almost belies the amount of change from standard. Good to have a specification that gives comfort as well as performance. Unfortunately not in my price range but in there challenging more well known restomod Porsche vehicles. Great review Jonny🎉
I got one Matchbox-Porsche exactly like that green one, from when I was about 6 or 7 years old!😁👌 - The air-cooled 911 is one of those cars that looks amazing without looking agressive (as in I-am-very-angry-and-want-to-eat-you) in any way - it more looks like a friendly, happy pet inviting you for some playtime fun. The Theon look to be very comparable with Singer, enhanced rather than re-worked - I like it!
That is a wonderful creation, and personally, I think its uniqueness helps massively. If I had the funds, I'd definitely think I'd order a Targa, and in a bright colour (from Porsches' vast repertoire). Basically, it's a YES from me. 😁
The car looks like perfection. How satisfying would it be to turn out a product like that for customers willing to spend that kind of money? I surely don't have the mechanical ability or engineering background that they do, but still... who wouldn't want to work in that shop where you could almost literally eat off the floor? Thanks for showcasing this business, Johnny!
That's a beautiful machine. 964 resto mods will never get old. Not going to say one lucky owner whoever picks that up, as they've obviously grafted their arse off to get such a car... so I take my hat off to you 😅
im all for anything that keeps old looking cars on the roads and driving about, obviously the cost is mental, but modern cars just do very little for me looks wise and although im not a 911 fan, you cannot deny how cool they are when they look and sound like this
I loved the Singer 911, since the beginning... (I think I've discovered them when they were on their 2nd or 3rd car) And of course I like Theon, too!!! But now... u know... U have to pay a visit at the Tuthill's, too!!! ;)
I have a '73 Targa & the roof folds up & sits comfortably in the front boot with plenty of room to spare. Maybe they couldn't fit in the later impact bumper models & 964s?
I'll never be 'over' restomods, but I do wish there were more companies producing budget versions on less obvious base cars (though I do looove the 964). My MG Midget restomod was built to my spec and cost just over £20k (+ donor) - obviously not a patch on this gorgeous Theon but fun none-the-less!
Fantastic product. Now that Singer are finishing the last of their n/a 4.0 cars before switching to the Turbo production Theon may find their order book getting more full.
Looks and sounds fantastic! Whilst 430k does sound expensive when you consider it takes 6000 hours to build that's £72 per hour if you totally ignore the cost of the base car and materials which would obviously bring the the labour rate down significantly. When you look at it like that it's insane for hand crafted bespoke restomod of this quality. run of the mill garages charge that PH in labour for a basic service.
It's amazing that these small companies exist. They give the wealthy petrolhead the ultimate bespoke experience. I'll never afford one, but this company provides the real deal.
What an epic car and review, thank you Jonny. Recently sold my 911 and this isn't helping 😬😬😬 Not that it was anything like this, but still.... Think I'll be back in the ownership family.
Great episode, would love to hear a brown chair chat with Jeremy Clarkson purely discussing cars (it’s rare to hear clarkson discuss the topic that brought him to fame these days) and I think Jonny would have the interviewing prowess to make for a very interesting alternative style interview with Jezza
Beautiful attention to the smallest details. Yes, it's expensive, but it's definitely aspirational. And I'm glad I'm not alone in liking Targas. I expect this will look even better in the metal. Maybe see you at Bicester Scramble on 5 January?
Beautiful cars from Theon. I think i would have something else like a Delta or Alfa. Mind you it would take a lottery win first 🤣 Great video keep them coming
911 Resto-modded out - sorry... Nice to have choice (if you are in that market) but how about a Carbon JAG XJ40 with an LS V8 or a Capri 2.8 with a rotary - and affordable please 🙂
based on the price, although that looks amazing, it is only for people with multiple classic / super cars.. and.... Sorry to say but the original 964 exhaust noise is better for my taste... to compare also (since you mentioned in the title and in the video) my friend owns a Singer, in fact the first Singer which was also in Fifth Gear. That car sounds fantastic.
Are these resto mods? Maybe I missed it in the vid, sounds like there are complete new builds/replicas under Porsche licence. Otherwise it sounds like nothing original remains like Trigger's broom and it would be a Q plate.
Definitely restomod. Chassis and body structure remains the same. Suspension parts, outer panels, brakes, engine internals and interior changed. That's a restomod.
If there is a market for them, why not. A little more sense than money perhaps? But in the future an original Theon Porsche modified 911 may well be a thing!!
how does insurance work for a resto mod ? Technically the car gets wheeled in on its last legs, restored and modded at the same time. Id hate to have to fill out the modifications on the insurance sheet !
It's nice but I would probably go with a Tuthill Porsche over this. Looks like between Tuthill, Singer, Rennsport, RPM Technik, 911 Retro works, Theon Design, Gunterwerks, RWB, plus many more, there won't be any standard Porsche's left soon 😊
So impressed by the engineering and fascinated at the opportunity for almost complete bespoke specification, however, slightly uncomfortable making a 964 look like an older 911. Why not evolve the aesthetics of the 964 era?
Hi there Johnny, its Gilly with the multi coloured wheelchairs... bespoke is the only way forward I feel, new cars are just so not enjoyable (recently had a brand new gr yaris, too many driver aids) just purchased a 1998 impreza type r 22b replica that has been inspected by scoobyclinic, all because of your video there. That goes with my 2002 landcruiser, 1994 uk spec supra and a 1995 800r top secret supra.. old school is best, new stuff is just to fat, large, too powerful and too expensive. The past is the future... put it on a t shirt .. cheers Gilly ❤
It's not just the 992, it's most new cars. But modern sports cars could be 1500bhp, and where the hell would you use them? They don't fit on our favourite roads.

Maybe I’ll get a Porsche one day.
Thanks for another passionate video Jonny.
Get a 997.1, still the right size & weight
. totally agree (94 Del Sol Honda 😂 )
The best thing about cars like this are that they are small, light, short geared, and you don’t need to be doing 100mph for the thrills
This. Precisely this. In a world where cars are growing in power, but also in size and weight, that they less suited to our roads and car parks (that aren't changing size).

Wise words.
Less is sometimes more.❤
The Targa is the only 911 I want.
It’s the general users choice imo. Who can really use any of the others. So, going moderately fast, looking good, this is the best choice.
You 100% are a true porsche enthusiast based simply off those facts you've just preached.
So great to see my BEL001 in the background. I own a few nice cars (we should chat Johnny) but I have to say the Theon is VERY special. These cars make the new cars (Porsche included) sedate in comparison, at least at reasonable road speed. They are so joyful.
Thanks for the comment, and congrats on owning a Theon. Please do email us!
mine is the Midnight Blue - I sat in yours when it was nearly complete. great car.
How did you become rich enough to afford this sort of stuff? I want to be in the position.
The original targa roof did fit in the front!!! I grew up with one!
Me too! And a large bag of sand in the front too!
Classy build. I'm not a Porsche guy really, but I'd take something like this any day over any of the current crop of super cars where you can only enjoy a tiny portion of their capability anywhere but a track
I love a 964.
I love a targa.
I love a yellow vehicle.
I have just had to add a slot to my fantasy garage
I just need to add the four hundred and thirty grand...😢
Absolutely lovely. Only wish it was affordable. Colour coded trainers again Jonny. Nice touch
The growl on the overrun is lovely

The real trick is to find a 911 that hasn't been modified
@watcher24601 We're getting there. The way things are going in 10-15 years it'll be more rare to see a stock classic 911 than a restomoded one 😆
Absolutely stunning... nicely done. Great vid Jonny!
Now, that was special. Also, a big shout out to your videographer for this one! 👏👏👏
If it’s 6000 hours and a small team, no wonder they only produce five per year .
Stunning product though.
Christ, take my money… (if I had that much). Instantly into my ‘if I ever won the lottery’ list alongside one of those Ford Escorts from that place in Wales.
Stunning cheers mr smith for another year of amazing content !! 🚗
What a fantastic car, another addition to my lottery win garage! Love the passion and care poured into saving a classic.
A classic beauty brought back to life even better than new, whats not to love! Thanks for the tour Jonny. Cheers
Good to meet you in person on Saturday Jonny in Leamington hope I didn’t freak you out too much 😂
I'm not a restomod or a particular Porsche fan but you can't argue with the looks of classic 911s, even if for nostalgia reasons (an early '80s child here). Great production and music on your latest videos too - keep up with the nice work!

Lovely builds! I really adore the way it revs.

This is a stunning custom Porsche. That black one is… 🤤🤤🤤🤤 that green one 👌🏼😍
what a thing of beauty. if I had the money, definitely worth the build
I'm suffering from Porsche fatigue these days. As great as they are, they seem to be everywhere so I don't get as excited as I used to. Anyway it's still a good video to watch on a Sunday night.
Panamanamara and cayenne pepper aside, I really appreciate seeing the old school porsches... Old Skool Cool and Timeless in design😊
Great work. Today I’ve watched an RWB 964 transformation by Dino DC (also yellow) and now this one. Two 964s going in different directions but both spectacular in their intention.
That is beautiful. I like Jonny, he’s a proper car guy, the way he saw the Rover and made comment 👍🏻 keep doing what you do mate.
Well that's me now wanting a Theon Porsche over a Singer. Absolutely brilliant video Jonny and what a brilliant company Theon looks like.
Singer have their name well and truly established out there, so it has been interesting to sample a UK contender. Plus, Theon make far less cars than Singer these days...

Absolutely effin' wicked..!! I love Targas as well as well, and this one.. WOW..!!!
Ooh, this yellow Targa is Bloody Lovely 💛
Well done, what a diamond you've created
Really love Johny because he is somehow real just which he would stay away from rich mans toys.
He covers junk in sheds too.
Beautiful looking car. Great video again!
Every once in awhile you see a car thats almost painful to look at , in its beauty, this is one , what a gorgeous thing , thank you , sort of lol
Great car, subtle, neat engineering which almost belies the amount of change from standard. Good to have a specification that gives comfort as well as performance. Unfortunately not in my price range but in there challenging more well known restomod Porsche vehicles. Great review Jonny🎉
The removable roof on originals, is metal and scissors to half size Then you put it in the front. Had access to one in the 90's!!

I know that Singer is the benchmark, but at this price point it is very impressive!!
Makes a Singer look bloody expensive. Hope this company continue to flourish.

The targa roof of my '79 SC folds and fits nicely in the frunk as well.
There all magic in there own beautiful way.

Wow, what a great machine! The price is a bit "yikes!" but yes to resto mod. I was never a concours guy, I mean, that's just standard. :)
Usually hate resto mods, especially EV's but this is great.
Its absolutely gorgeous, extremely good of them to let you drive a customers car, stunning and beauty comes to mind. Love it
It felt like a real privilege to borrow what is a customer car.
Stunning machine definitely a bargain considering the price of modern supercars, would have it all day long 😮👍
