For anyone who cares about environmental health effects, the Semi is Tesla's most important product.
Diesel semis are just a small percentage of vehicles on the road but they contribute to 60% of airborne-derived cancer cases.
That’s the main reason I bought my modelY - less cancer!

Tesla semi w/ 80% less stress & workload.
Yeah, just don't tell them that the plan is to replace them all with AI
@@markplott4820
@@markplott4820 You've obviously never driven a truck of any kind... /2cents The Tesla Semi is an amazing truck and the future of spoke and hub transportation. The stress drivers feel comes from time constraints, dispatchers, and 4 wheelers, not from driving in general.
There’s a whole lot more to it than exhaust pollution. The Tyers, The pollution from your brakes and tires isn't benign, either. Tests by Emissions Analytics, an engineering consulting company based in England, found tires produce about 2,000 times more particle pollution by mass than tailpipes. Although not regulated, those emissions exceed the legal particle limits for exhaust.
Tesla semi will still produce the bulk of pollution that a diesel truck makes
Lars thank you for a spotlight on the trucking industry. Scania's history is particularly interesting for those who don't want to "accept" Tesla's word. Now they have two majors telling them EV's are the way to go. Bravo ;o)
Piece by piece Tesla's empire is expanding to be the king of each sector it enters.
Tesla is the first MegaCorp. Will have a GDP bigger than America in 20 years.
King of gimmicks
@daveblock lol. Call it what you want, but electric is better. And for example, my car just drove me back to work via fsd. Damn cool stuff. Perhaps if legacy auto could offer those kinds of gimmicks, more people would be lining up to buy more cars from them. Oh, and it would be a nice gimmick if they could offer a zero to 60 of 3.5 seconds like my model y performance too, and at a price I can afford. Sadly, they don't though. You can't blame Tesla if everyone else sucks. Not their fault. 😂😂😂😂

If you image the crane required to bring a column or a beam to the middle of the building, it would be huge. It would be much easier to add the second floor beams and columns right away. That is why, I believe the height is the height as seen
From my construction experience the columns, beams and decking to not look adequate enough to support a floor
Major savings can be had by platooning. A single driver in the front truck and 4 more unoccupied trucks simply follow him, like a mini train.
Amazing Tesla semi
Truly EEEPIC technology masterpiece YET ANOTHER checkmate move
The fact that the columns extend above the decking leads me to believe that the building will be one story, because those extended columns represent the basis for a parapet wall.
TESLA has invented Concrete LEGO blocks , the Colum's are modular.
Saving money (fuel, maintenance, etc.) and what-not is important and a driver for switching to EVs. However, IMO, another very real benefit has to do with safety, not only for the truckers themselves, but especially for all the vehicles and drivers that share the highways with them. All Teslas are not only state-of-art technologically, but are also fully software-defined vehicles. They have the power and regenerative braking to accelerate, travel, and slow down at appropriate speeds in hilly and mountainous terrain (and/or in snow, rain, or shine). They have surround video and autopilot features that greatly enhance safety and, in the case of accident, provide evidence of who or what went wrong. They are quiet and do not pollute the surrounding air (especially in backed-up traffic). I actually feel a bit safer each time I see a Tesla near me on the road. I do respect truckers and the work they do, but certainly believe they and I and other drivers will be safer when surrounded by a convoy of Tesla Semi's on the expressways.

Those large incentives are also to cover the cost of installing Chargers & High Speed DC Chargers & solar roof over chargers.

Oh that was good, I never thought of Optimus unloading the Truck.
Where would he sit though…in the back or in the cab?
I’d have him in the Cab so I he could take the speeding tickets :-)
Lars said the Semi would obliterate all legacy truck manufacturers 5+ years ago and yet Tesla has built less than 100 trucks while Volvo, Daimler etc have built thousands of BEV trucks.
Just need a commercial van and the line up will have a foot hold in each main category
Electric is easier to scale than hydrogen.
Those trucks are fantastic! I only worry that they’re getting that range currently because they are limited to 55/mph. Lots of regen downhill and low air resistance.
And as far as I know Scania can deliver Battery trucks, they are alredy testing them with good result (I hope they have batterys enought)
But to se Tesla Semi! That would be great! 👍😎👍
Would love to see Tesla be more bold in the commercial transport segment (semi, van, etc.). Great margins and streamlined mfg’ed product
Good video! Optimus even got a mention. I agree with your comments about the advantages and benefits the Tesla Eco-System brings to every Tesla car and/or vehicle purchaser. As there is Apple and the others, there is also Tesla and the others.
It's interesting that in the stock video showing Pepsi with a tesla semi, right next to it is a BYD Electric semi as well.
Its interesting that Tesla would rather build a new factory in a remote location of NV and overlook the ruins of Detroit and any resemblance of a UAW. I hope people can read this underlying message.
After they bought Freemont it was concluded that a refurb was more expensive than a new build.
The state of Michigan and the UAW have not been kind to Tesla. Tesla would easily consider so many other locations, indefinitely. But it's ironic, that you see countless Teslas while driving for a few minutes in the metro Detroit area.
Sparks is along I 80 so it has good distribution to most of the country. Low labor costs but in 5 years it won’t matter because of automation. And there’s little influence in the local government from Unions.

@@robertmorley3609 yup. Many countries don't use trailers. They lack the transportation infrastructure.
Triaxel trailers are the norm in Oz; however, Tesla doesn’t supply the trailer.
It’s going to be a long time before Tesla “needs” a box truck. They may never make one. But if they do it will likely be built from what they learn from the Semi.
@@richb2229 Or on some type of mini van platform. I think they have a new vehicle coming out next year for this purpose. If self driving delivery fans has their own robots, then they can work 24 hours a day so maybe big trucks won't be needed. Just a massive fleet of the smaller vehicles? It's exciting and terrifying all at the same time.
Thank Lars 🙏🏼
You need more than one bot or person to offload or load trucks but it can do the hook ups for pick up and delivery also any inspection of the truck out in the field if an incident happens to video relay to headquarters.
@ 12 :13 don't you use forklifts to unload trucks ???
So as soon as the semis come online, forget about the divers.
Tesla safety systems should be a huge boon for companies and drivers. This should be pointed out about Mr Vaccines and Farming Gates being wrong... adnauseum
When autonomy comes into place companies like Pepsi would be able to cash in on savings by having fewer vehicles as well, as the will be able to drive when drivers would have been resting or sleeping.
A quick thought. Tesla has a huge amount of driving data from shadow-moding its installed "fleet" of cars. However, there is no such similar database (yet) for Semi-trucks or most other types of larger trucks and other vehicles (perhaps there are for farm equipment). I suspect for this reason, FSD will be delayed for some time before it comes to the Semi. (Autopilot and other Tesla features for safety, etc., are probably already or near to being there.)
LARS - some tasks like operating a Forklift will still need Human operators.
but OPTIMUS can do other basic tasks.
Have you done any research into Edison motors trucks. They are trying to go after the off road trucking industry and how to electrify it.
Holy Crap 75k
When you start getting standardisation you will leverage more efficiencies and economies of scale. Yes Optimus may potentially be able to unload the truck or just decouple trailer and hook up to new, it would make little sense as bigger companies order by the trailer load so unloading individual pallets would be inefficient. You would need a an equivalent to the 20 foot / 40 foot shipping container so the whole trailer pallets and all would be unloaded.
Imagine FSD or Optimus line trailer up and a lifting mechanism aligns with trailer and takes all pallets off from both sides simultaneously in one lift.
Pallet dimensions are standardised to fit on deck of truck, so if centre board was a reference make on the truck the whole lot can be loaded as well??
If they are even bigger companies then they can do what Tesla does, warehouse on wheels, park trailer off site and then when required bring hole trailer to dockway as a warehouse pick location?
Those subsidies will evaporate as soon as there is any kind of quantity of supply within the market
Hopefully they add solar pannels to the trucks
The math doesn't work out.

It can take a year for truck stops to get industrial power gird supply for a few hundred overnight Semi chargers. Tesla should be discussing the issue with standards organization and the truck stop market. Tesla will likely wait for the CATL condensed battery technology or similar along with a total redesign of the current Tesla Semi before starting the production the version with a sleeper cab. This would mean it would be a 2026 model.
The range will likely go up from 500 miles to about 900 miles. It is currently at a design of 650 miles range with such a Tesla Semi not known if being tested.
A trucker on a comment said an 800 mile range would be comfortable. A 900 mile range would be possible with CATL condensed battery technology. This assumes driving a typical day only down to about 20% SOC and driving faster than Diesel semis meaning a reduced range. The cost of running the Tesla Semi is significantly less than a Diesel semi making a trucker's pay worth more than the fuel savings of going slow.
Trucker today get such low pay it is actually more profitable for them to drive for total efficiency between 55 mph - 61 mph easing off the throttle when climbing hills. The incredible nearly 1,000 hp dynamic braking ability of the Tesla Semi means it can go down mountains as quickly as it goes up them. Other Semis if they can only clime at 40 mph they go down the grade in that gear for needed braking control. The Tesla Semi could do it at 65 mph.
There will be a need for truck stops to have overnight charging connections. That would be far easier on the power grid and the battery packs for a prolonged 8 hour charge than to do fast 30 minute or faster charge. For topping off charging fast charging would be used, but with the long 900 mile range it would likely only take place with a multiple driver truck due to maximum daily driving times allowed per driver.
states, counties and cities are cracking down on emissions so medium and short trips are expected to be covered by EV semis.

@@markplott4820 _Tesla semi drove 1700+ miles in 24 H , w/ full load 82k lbs Gross._
I'm on your side, but I think you're conflating a couple of different tests. 1700 miles in 24 hours would be 70 MPH, which would only be possible in a few states, and definitely not in California where almost all the Tesla Semis are deployed. And if you're talking about the 1,000 miles driven in 24 hours during the Run On Less tests last year, the load was was not specified. There are so many 20-40 year old semi trucks out there, that look ancient, trucking needs this competition or needs to get destroyed, for the same reason the car industry needs Tesla, cause they'd never modernize themselves, they're lazy, and their stuck in a monopoly/mafia grandfather mind-set.

So what happens when there’s autonomous driving trucks have an accident or jackknife or anything that takes a real person to solve?
Humans will still be REQUIRED for safety.
but than OPERATE Tesla semi on a Normal DL.
They have solved a lot of the situations that lead to accidents and jackknifing with software that is much faster and more attentive than a human driver. If there’s an accident it is not the driver that takes charge of the scene.😊
@@malcolmrickarby2313 - also Tesla semi doesn't need any JAKE brakes , and Friction brakes are Seldom used , REGEN all the time , even on Flat roads.
_So what happens when there’s autonomous driving trucks have an accident or jackknife or anything that takes a real person to solve?_
Think "first responders". Have you ever seen a truck accident or jackknife where someone from off-site didn't turn up pretty quickly, even thought there were already humans at the site of the accident?
I believe that when the semi was first introduced, Elon explained that there will be software that will control the individual wheel motors of the tractor to help prevent jackknifing from developing if a driver loses control of the truck.
If FSD resulted in fewer accidents then there would saving in insurance premiums and repairs for damage caused by an accident.
And NHTSA statistics show a dramatic reduction in accidents for Teslas with FSD engaged, compared with Tesla driven manually.
Chinese have a way of catching up quickly
Buildings are tall, not high. Minor detail. Keep up the good work.

Not just the *Trucker's salary* Pepsi saves but unemployment insurance... health insurance... Social Security "matching" that Pepsi will *no longer* have to pay. FSD is never "sick" ... hungover... on drugs... sleepy or quit without a warning. FSD will not be restricted by Federal mandates that a driver rest after so many hours on the road.
2:46 Definitely more than one floor, looking at the small trucks at the rendering it may even be three levels
Tesla's (FSD & truck) competition is coming All over them self 😂
It will be interesting to see how the share reacts over the next few months. There's a lot in store for us. The robotaxi show is sure to be a big hit, then the flying roadster at the beginning of next year.
One such non driver truck involved in one major accident and the insurance will become prohibitive. Because a driver can make a mistake. A system will be extrapolated to a systemic catastrophe.
MAXWELL = May well
Give it a few weeks…the competition is coming…😂😂
Let's say FSD is only ever considered good enough in Semis to do all the highway driving and some significant city driving and that is all that is possible that could be the case. Well, drivers today are limited in how far they can drive by law, which is 11 hours. If FSD gets good enough (and accepted by regulators) so that 95% of driving can be total FSD, then a driver should be able to have no limits on hours, and the Semi may get charged twice a day, let's say 90 minutes each time, worst case 2 hours, the driver can be constantly on the go except charging and stiff city driving and docking, which makes the semi driver twice as efficient as they used to be the worst case, a lot less stressed because in a 24-hour timeframe, they may average 4 to 5 hours of actual work, so no matter what, even if we don't get to 100% pilotless semis, it will still be a massive, massive saving for trucking plus efficiencies on deliveries.
Touché! But the final solution is no driver required, and the promise of AI is that I can have my car work for me rather than me working for my car or my truck. Cheers 🥂
@@theodorehaskins3756 That is indeed the final solution. It will be really interesting to see if it happens.
The idea of a car doing this is one thing, but a Semi is another as far as crowded city areas and loading and unloading places.

@@travisjazzbo3490 Touché! But everything seems impossible until someone does it. So what I added was a slight twist on his original quote, because I believe Napoleon Hill was right, because again if you think about it in reverse, it makes so much sense, so my little twist was adding this, if you mind can conceive it, and you can believe it, then you can achieve it, because you’re mine may be able to conceive it, but if you don’t believe it, then you can’t achieve it, because you won’t even try, it’s called discouragement, and discouragement is the tool of the Devil, because it always works. I guarantee you know people that have been unsuccessful, and not know that they have been the victim of discouragement, by others who don’t want them to succeed, they are the naysayers, they are the people who don’t want others to leave their home of comfort, because it’s just to frightening out there, and the challenges are too great, so why even try? What will people do for income when they are no longer needed for work?
I see no other solution than for there to be a universal basic income. The money would have to come from taxes levied on the companies profiting from automation.
A population sitting around doing nothing for a living will raise a whole new set of social and mental health problems--completely aside from the basic economic problems caused by throwing so many people out of work.
But this has always been the dream of automation: to free human beings from the most tedious and demanding physical labors. When it happens, we may end up being a little like the dog who catches the car: _Now what do we do?_
@@eyesuckle I totally agree, for decades the world has defined who they are by what they do for a living, when you no longer have this, and the money is just given to you, I don’t believe it’s going to be a very good scenario for a while. Tesla has very nice products, in advance, but won't be dominating the self driving industry, because self driving is basically a brain on wheels. when Tesla can put a brain in his trucks, it won't be the only company who can because AGI will be a commodity, many actors compete, even the open source community will propose AGI. I don't see a differentiator for Tesla to monopolize 80% of global road freight payloads like you suggest. 11:25
I've been listening and have been subscribed for a long time, but I can't take that horrible whistling background music anymore. Why do you play it while you are talking? It is very unnecessary, repetitive, grating, and hugely distracting.
Just wait in the operative word in anything from Musk!
My son is a long-distance semi driver. He says that other than local delivery trucks like Pepsi and a few short trip routes, electric trucks won't be used for decades. Zero infrastructure for them at truck plazas, no adoption by truckers, unproven in real world driving (not some Tesla drivers playing like they are truckers). Trucks go the entire country, from the long stretches of rural Montana to urban areas. There aren't enough charging locations for BEV cars as it is, and for trucks, they can't sit around waiting to charge a battery pack when they are federally limited in the number of hours working each day. Diesel trucks can go millions of miles. Battery packs would need to be changed every 3 to 5 years for long-distance trucking at huge expense.
There is trucking company near where I live they have about 100 trucks and I would say pretty much every one leaves the yard in the morning and is back by dinner time. So everyone of them could be EV.
And why would it take "decades" to overcome any of these obstacles that you mention?
With their increased range, a fleet of semi trucks would require fewer charging stations than privately owned electric sedans and pickup trucks. You start with a few heavily travelled routes and build out from there, just as you do any transportation network.
When did the conservatives of the world become so negative and helpless? All I ever hear from them these days is all the reasons why doing anything other than exactly what is being done right now is impossible. Which I guess is pretty much the definition of a conservative.
15 years is normal for a Tesla car battery
