Thinking about building a pc with all used parts except for the ssd. Rtx 3060, Ryzen 5 3600 and 16gb ddr4 3200 ram. All for about 400cad (300 usd). Is it worth it or should I go for a different combo?love the vids man
Hey tech source I’ve been a fan for a while I love watching ur videos I don’t have discord so this is the only way I can reach out to you ik u probably won’t see this comment but I was wondering if u could build my dream pc for me bc the one I have right now has integrated graphics and I only run 80 fps on my game so I was just wondering u don’t have to do it for me but it would make my day.
Open box items are a gamble, but when you get a good item. So worth the savings. I bought my 4070 S open box at best buy in March for 450 usd, and got my OLED monitor for 410 open box when it was a grand MSRP. If you can get an open box deal, i would take it. I still look for open box deals when possible.
i picked up an OLED monitor for $400 open box too earlier this year, ive also been slowly purchasing components with quite a few being open box, unfortunately i am taking a slight gamble as i cant test if any of them actually work but i bought a 7800x3d for $289, a gigabyte b650 for $140, and a 4tb samsung 990 pro for $230
I’ll be going to microcenter for the first time next month to go pick out parts for my first build and didn’t know they had open box. Definitely doing this! Thank you!
They price match pretty much every vendor on pc partpicker if you show them a webpage with the same item (model # and/or serial # must match) at a lower price at checkout.
The only reason I have a 4070TI is because it was open box. At the time they were like $800ish, but open box and it was the MSI Ventus 3x version which had some "manufacturing defects" so it was $500. The manufacturing defect? Some of them came out with a bent backplate (it actually extends to the heatsink in some of them). Has never affected performance that I've found, but it meant for a while there you could find Ventus 3x that were open box marked way down because people would buy them, see the slight curve and freak, get a refund, and then the next guy or gal gets a pretty decent savings on a 4070TI that doesn't look quite right, but works just fine.
Built budget right with my teen for him. All refurbished/ factory repair open box / mc had some good deals. We got $1,200 monitor open box for $400 Cpu ,memory, case only new items.
I was looking to ship some parts and went to shippable items... THEY HAVE A MIAMI STORE!!! Thanks for reminding me that I should buy from micro center!!!
People need to wake up and realized that USED/OPENBOX products are probably better than a SEALED brand new because it was tested and working. How many times did people buy a new product and it's either making funny noises or simply dead on arrival??
For My First PCC Build 1. Motherboard: TUF Gaming WiFi 7 2. CPU: Intel i9 14th Gen 3. GPU: RTX 4080 4. PSU: 1000W (High quality, 80+ Gold/Platinum) 5. Case: Corsair 7000D Airflow 6. CPU Cooler: Liquid Arctic Freeze 3 7. Storage: 2TB SSD (NVMe) 8. OS: Windows 11 Would this be a good build or is it missing something ?
Micro centre is definitely tech heaven... they got cool deals on the open box. It definitely seems like a cheat code... the build turned out great, too...
I know the point is to educate people who are on a budget about the potential savings and low risks of buying returned products but him showing off the $100k pickup to go buy open box is just iconic 😂
especially since openbox is mostly for people wanting to save and then he proceeds to build a 7800x3d/4080 Build, it goes to show Ed has gotten a bit out of touch with what most people go for.
@ 100%. It is what it is. To me is even more frustrating when in Setup Wars he’ll call out someone for having a lot of money based on their setups being stacked. And this is after he has given us a literal tour of his custom made mansion. It just feels disingenuous when he tries to pocketwatch someone acting all shocked. In the end setup wars is not about people’s incomes, it is about them working with whatever budget they can afford. Whether it is low, mid or high range. And putting together a nice setup that can inspire others.
open box is nice. Bought a rx 6900 xt for $500 back when it was going for $750-$800. Sold it on fb marketplace for $400 and bought a rx 7900 xtx taichi white for $750 on ebay. So just had to put $350 for that 7900 xtx and I'm having no issues at all. Just ran some stress test when i got it to make sure it was good and it was.
Most of my entire setup is open box. Very few items are a "must be new" such as the power supply. I did the math once but it's been awhile and I've moved stuff around. Id hazard the numbers to be as Follows. Retail$ 3400 and Paid$ 2200. This includes everything even the chair, desk, drawers, keyboards, mice, speakers, etc.
Another day at the Tustin Micro Center, if they have the Amd rx 7800 XT or the GRE for Asrock I would buy it, but with a twist open box complete, and I am very picky.
Saved big money at Microcenter on a 43" Samsung monitor; was already a great deal then turned out they had an open-box one available so made out like a bandit!
I got some Kanto Ora speakers open box from Micro Center for 122 bucks. The box had like 5 yellow stickers stacked on top of it lol so I'm sure the price just kept going down and down every month. They were brand new lol I saw nothing wrong with them just some fingerprints of the previous owner prob taking them out and putting them back into the box. They were 349.99 at the time. He's not wrong, don't sleep on open box you guys its worth most of the time.
Beautiful Build! Wish I had Your $$$ !! We get Hosed in Canada for PC Parts!! Think I saved: $10.00 on an 'Open Box' Gigabyte B650 Eagle Motherboard, but I got me the First Part of my AM5 Build!
I have a asus rog strix z790-e gaming wifi ii lga 1700 motherboard I haven’t built in it yet but I wanna put 4 sticks of Corsair dominator titanium ddr5 ram in it. Bad idea?
Im in South Jersey so there is no Microcenter near me. I wish there was because i need to upgrade bad.. I need to try and get in touch with my man here and see what kind of pc he can get me for like $1500-$2k. I really need an upgrade. Man this system doesnt sound half bad.
Hi i love your pc budget build and your setup war video you and you can inspire to try and do the same i only have a laptop and i would love to see a 600$ pc budget build with just pure performance no aesthetic if you are looking forward to. It is pretty smart buying the open box part wish you good luck
I work at Best Buy and sometimes they mark an open box down as much as possible and because of that the condition shows “poor” for example even though it’s actually in excellent condition. They do this so they can get rid of inventory at times and give customers a good price. I’m guessing Micro Center has a similar process and reasoning.
You can always tell a professional Tech RUclipsr, he/she installs the Motherboard with the case upright. Interesting video Ed, if only Microcentre had a UK branch :(
So from a country that doesn't have open box, these items are returns from customers who for whatever reason, don't want what they purchased? Okay, got it. Any open box savings in Australia are sucked up by the retailer. IE Consumers don't get to see those savings. All done though I got a similar spec'd PC build with 2 extra Noctua fans, double your memory, triple your storage, a 5" sensor screen all for AU$400 more. Another way of looking at your terrific deal is that US$1863 converted to our dollars is AU$3024 so I did pretty good in the land of the ripoff.
I was shopping open box at Microcenter. Managed to snag an open box TRX 40 Asus Strix for like 200 from 600. I think it was their floor display system and I bought it along with a new 3970x
I built my wife's PC with mostly open box stuff from the Microcenter Dallas. We moved to phoenix and I'm just so sad there isn't a microcenter within a couple hours drive from here. The closest one is in Tustin. :(
Even When Microcenter comes to Northern California it will be 100 miles from Sacramento Region/Lake/Mendo Region. Come on Micro Center open up in the Old Frys Super Center in Sacto.
Would like to see another Openbox deals video but as a "first time builder", meaning buy components and reveal how to fix the problems you faced without having "spare wifi antenna or ssd screws" 🙏
Average salary in the US is around 1.100 usd per week which add up to around 4.400 in a month and the 7800x3d was 332usd, Now imagine the average salary in my country is 3.800usd and that same cpu is around 600usd, sweden used to be great now it sucks everything is so expensive
The one thing I noticed when u picked up motherboard u didn’t check for backplate was included can’t mount the cpu cooler without the motherboard backplate
I don't live near many physical pc hardware stores. But I always look for open box items on pc hardware websites, been doing it for years, lol. Ok, I gotta go put a gaming rig together.
Try building an open-box only parts PC in Micro Center Fairfax, VA. You won't be as lucky as you were in California. Living near Memphis TN, there's no store to just walk in and buy pc parts. Closest we have is a Bestbuy and that's the most disappointing place ever to walk into and very inflated prices.

The open box thing can be vv useful in the flip or flop series
Can you just walk around and browse? Miss walking into a computer store. All there is left is the soulless corporate Best Buy.
Can you do a how to guide for water cooling builds
Hey tech source I’ve been a fan for a while I love watching ur videos I don’t have discord so this is the only way I can reach out to you ik u probably won’t see this comment but I was wondering if u could build my dream pc for me bc the one I have right now has integrated graphics and I only run 80 fps on my game so I was just wondering u don’t have to do it for me but it would make my day.

So true. Im building my first pc and i just bought a hyte y70 open box for $137 and it literally looked like the box was just opened and taped back.
Ah yes micro center, the unattainable Shangri-La for so many of us
Shanghai la is really good anime
BO1 MENTIONED!!!!!
@@hamzaepps2497 he's not talking abt the anime
I’ll be going to microcenter for the first time next month to go pick out parts for my first build and didn’t know they had open box. Definitely doing this! Thank you!
Micro Center also matches newegg pricing and open box is the way to go I have used this all the way back to early 2000's.
They price match pretty much every vendor on pc partpicker if you show them a webpage with the same item (model # and/or serial # must match) at a lower price at checkout.
I got a ASUS X670E-F ROG STRIX GAMING WIFI ATX Motherboard for $190 and it had everything. It usually sells for $311.99
I Always wanted to see something like this as soon as I get to know that they got open box offers
The only reason I have a 4070TI is because it was open box. Open box is the way to go sometimes!
Ed's the GOAT of Pc builds & setups.
HOWD U COMMENT 12 HOURS AGO THE VIDEO WAS UPLOADED 40 SECONDS AGO
Probably a channel member @@BlastedSoda
I do this all the time. You can actually browse the open box parts online, you don’t need to be in store to see the prices/ reserve them
Ed, love your videos man, every time a new video comes out I'm hyped
This was actually really cool to see. Many people are very anti open box deals but this makes me feel much better about it!
Dude is giving us something to be thankful for this holiday with all these videos
Built budget right with my teen for him. All refurbished/ factory repair open box / mc had some good deals. We got $1,200 monitor open box for $400
Cpu ,memory, case only new items.
I was looking to ship some parts and went to shippable items... THEY HAVE A MIAMI STORE!!! Thanks for reminding me that I should buy from micro center!!!
4 videos in a week! 🤯
Great video and you even ended up saving $55 total from what the 7800x3d bundle deal (with those exact same parts) is.
4 videos in 1 week never thought this day would come 😭
0:12 the guy in the car didn’t interrupt him for saying hi but he was calling him out for the sus things he said
Wish we had micro centers in the uk, it would make building a pc so much easier...
People need to wake up and realized that USED/OPENBOX products are probably better than a SEALED brand new because it was tested and working. How many times did people buy a new product and it's either making funny noises or simply dead on arrival??

More like does it turn on or work?
Ok sell it.
For My First PCC Build
1. Motherboard: TUF Gaming WiFi 7

It's so convenient like you can get a nice monitor with the amount you're saving
Ed is the goat when it comes to pc build🔥
and if you have a microcenter card you can save another 5% on top of that for all items, just pay it off before the end of 30 days!

One day I will definitely build my pc with ur hand
Thanks for all the help bro
I wish we had a micro center. I live in the Capital Region of NY but nooo Micro Center is like 2hrs south by NYC and they barely deliver
Do they have bundles for open box components for additional discount like they do for new pc parts?
I got a $700 Alienware display for $500 because it was a display model and open box, still came with a 2 year warranty 🥰🥰
Would like to see another Openbox deals video but as a "first time builder", meaning buy components and reveal how to fix the problems you faced without having "spare wifi antenna or ssd screws" 🙏
Hey Ed can you do an updated version of the how to guide for water cooled builds
Im almost curious as to if you saved more on CPU, MB, Ram separate rather than just get the Bundle they always sell!
Ed! I need a new 2k-2500 PC build video! Love the videos brother
I'm from the UK and I wish we had some thing like Micro Centre or Best Buy here.
3 BACK TO BACK VID OMFG
Open box for sure....especially cpus. Let's not worry about static damage possibly done.

Hi Techsource can you please recommend parts for a Persons, who's building a pc for the first time and can you explain everything about the pc
Wish Micro Centre opened up in the UK 😢

smexy build , i love u did the 7800 x 3d with the 4080
Hey I'm currently been looking on building a pc for around $950 do you have any recommendations and a parts list I could use?
Open box is the way to go. Don’t forget about buying stuff on facebook marketplace though😅
Thx for the update.
😢 wish we had micro center in the uk.
You can Do that then put rest on Other essential like monitor Key board mouse in same price of a normal same item only pc
I don't live near many physical pc hardware stores. But I always look for open box items on pc hardware websites, been doing it for years, lol. Ok, I gotta go put a gaming rig together.
i love to save put over here in EU everthing cost more i was SHOCKED when u said some of the prices of the gpus when over here it cost 50 or 100 more
One gamble with open box is some places don’t have the same warranty
The goat of setups
Iam a new subscribe and watched all of your videos in 3days

We need a MicroCenter in Seattle and Bremerton!

Yeah 850 watt is perfect could probably run a 4080/4080s on an 850 watt.
Living near Memphis TN, there's no store to just walk in and buy pc parts. Closest we have is a Bestbuy and that's the most disappointing place ever to walk into and very inflated prices.

"im gonna shop for open box pc parts at my local micro center"
