Forgive my pants for being so wrinkly - I threw them all in a pile before trying them on in the video.
I dont think there is a single worse feeling as a not out guy is being told "why don't you just shop in the women's section? It's obviously not going to fit you, stop being stubborn."
agree
yes the balance between dressing in a fashionable/aesthetically pleasing way vs passing is one that took me a while to get. i used to care a lot more about dressing well before i came out and i kinda had to abandon that for a while
sO RELATABLE!
I recognize the fact I would look really awesome in some outfits, but they're FEMALE FEATURED(even without emphasized tities area and skirts..)
One of my favorite pairs of jeans is the regular fit by Wrangler. They have plenty of room in the thighs, straighten out my hips, and are only about $20 at Target if I remember correctly. They’re definitely a slightly baggier, straightish leg style but if that’s what you’re looking for (like I was) you might love these too!
> be born
> naturally get the societally ideal black afab body
> be transgender
> cry from the irony

This hits close and hard. I have a very hourglass body. I can hardly wait to get my breasts chopped off! I am focusing on shoulder/arm exercises and praying for the testosterone to hurry up and do it's thing. It's starting to honestly, but i wish it was faster.....
me: *having an internal meltdown trying to shop for mens' pants and needing help*
me: *finds this video* fucking thank you 😭
Awww happy it was helpful!!
I'm a chubby dude with an hourglass figure and hip dips which is the absolute fucking worst for finding pants...either they look shit or slide down🥲
best fitting stuff i found so far are some kind of dress pants that are kinda cut like joggers on top (drawstring&elastic band). They sit nicely on my hips without riding up or sliding down too (unless i put a shitton of weight in my pockets). I don't really wear clothes in that style so i don't get to wear those too often...
In summer i prefer swim shorts, they tend to hide my hips pretty well.
Cargos are great for winter, you can wear joggers underneath them to stay toasty🌡️
look for my comment and try those i suggested, you might like them, i have hip dips too
Also maybe an uncommon style these days, but maybe suspenders or dungarees? That way you don't have to rely on the shape of your hips/waist to hold up the trousers at all.
For the hip dip issue, have you tried the Marlo pant by Both&? To fix this exact issue they put in little pads on the inside (like shoulder pads) that make a straight line where that hip dip would normally happen!
I buy hollister taper jeans. it's the same idea as the athletic cuts, but I find it fits even better than the stuff that says athletic. in fact, ever since I figured that out I'd rather wear those jeans than hide in sweats.
Hiding in sweats reading this
Since I'm small, I buy Cat&Jack in the kids area at Target.
I love their pants, they leave enough room for packers or to make them look baggy.
I've had good luck with Abercrombie & Fitch athletic. They're a bit pricier, but if you watch for a sale you can usually get them half off or more. Your tip about overshirts is also a great one. I think sometimes ppl undervalue the use of widening their torso in order to minimize their hips. I find wearing a tshirt as an undershirt helps with this, as it gives more structure to the fabric of the top layer and keeps it from conforming as closely to my natural waist.
Thank you so much Arthur, this is fantastic. I’ve really been struggling between passing and adhering to my own aesthetic (the unknown line between looking like every other man and also looking like ME).
You are truly a lifesaver for this
Another thing to keep in mind as well is that women's clothing is more likely to use vanity sizing than men's. I used to wear a 24W and a 26W (or 28W with a belt) mens fits me fine.
How low do you wear your pants? I have a bad habit of pulling jeans all the way up and then I hate it :/
Yeah I think right on my hip bones. I personally like wearing a belt but having it the level of tightness so it lands right there which helps from riding up, I think
As someone who's pre T and looking for comfortable masculine pants this really helps! Ty ❤️❤️
Always always wore slim fit black jeans, which really hug the hips and have more fabric down towards the knee, which makes it go straight down instead of curve.
Thankfully I have always had very slim hips tho, and after over 5 years on testosterone I feel I can wear most pants now.
I never really knew what age you have to be to start T, though I want to start taking it as soon as possible
I think it depends on the country/state! I'm pretty sure in all US states you can do informed consent at 18, but the rules around minors vary and I'm not very familiar with them
I'm 14 and in the US, it really depends where you live. I live in PA and i'm able to get on T as a minor. I'm actually getting on T in the new year
@@user-mf7ib5qe5q woah that’s amazing dude i hope your transition goes well!
@@Kainat.h thank you! 😄
@@user-mf7ib5qe5q Ah your welcome
i’m also 14 i came out trans in May 2021 now it’s almost 2022 and i’m almost 15 in January so i’ve also been accepted into gender clinics, i’m very exited too! Aha
I've gone up multiple pants sizes on T. I started at 13 and am now 14. I also gained 40 pounds in the first 9 months. It also feels more normal to have a bigger chest and a bigger body when it comes to passing. The worst thing with wearing any pants is my thighs. I would say 20 of those pounds I gained were probably muscle. Working out helps with dysphoria so much!
Have you ever tried Both&'s jeans or utility pants? We'd love to hook you up with a pair in return for a review! We've spent years researching the best proportions and materials for an ideal transmasc fit but are always looking to get more folks in the community to try and give us feedback! Let us know if you're interested!
My issue is that I'm very short (5'2") and got pretty prominent hips, so for now my best option is shopping in the women's section but looking for more masculine or neutral styles. There's no shame in it if that's what you need, plus nobody outside of you and the person who served you in the store will know if they're 'womens' jeans or not
2:35 "they are not the most fashionable these days, these look like from the 90s"
2 years later in 2023, these are fashionable! lol
I personally like dark cargo pants because they fit my clothing style and are cut kinda widely, but those are a bit of a double-edged sword because they do tend to emphasize your hips a bit because they’re just such big pants so in comparison to your shirt your butt is going to look big. I tend to combine these with jackets and stuff that cover part of my butt, and make my upper body look bigger as well so that it balances that out. With just t-shirts I tend to prefer tighter cut jeans, sometimes even skinny jeans, because they don’t make my lower body look so big compared to my upper body. (This is coming from a kinda scrawny, tall transmasc person so it might not be helpful for all body types)
It’s weird, sometimes wearing really wide pants makes me feel less dysphoric about my hips because you can’t really see the exact shape of my body, sometimes wearing really skinny pants makes me feel better because it makes my lower body, including my hips, look smaller in general, even if it does make the shape of my body a lot more visible.
And I admit I also just like these pants because I’m such a goth lmao
Thank you so much for this video!
i love your channel (and you). Just wanted to let you know that you're awesome
Aww thank you!! This is so sweet 🎂
This video helped me literally so much more than any other video. Thank you!
I honestly can only wear levi's bc im a size 28-26 and target only has the lowest size being 30 ;-;
4:32 he had to do it to em
Super useful tips!
you look like Robert Pattinson (high praise)
thank you so much for this video! It's very helpfull :) 🖤
*Happy noises*
Although the only problem I have is I'm a small in women so I have to wear boys sizes now 😭👍
Not gonna lie you kinda look like Edward from Twilight
Very helpful information. Thank you so much!
This is awesome, THANKS
This is helpful, thank you!
This is a very helpful video!
TYSM!!
Awesome. Thank you
The best thing about men's clothing is that you can literally wear anything
am i dumb or did you speed up the video a little? it sounds like that lol
Loll I don't think so! I just speak fast haha
Just slow it down to 0.75 speed that should help if you can’t understand his speech
Usually a lot of trans men have a tendency to be súper femenine in how they speak and move however you don’t which is good for a change, you are very neutral.
I was thinking the same. I like his voice UwU
trans people dont really care whether or not their gender presentation meets your preferences on how they should act or speak
@@kurdt_ then it’s good that I don’t care if they don’t care. Just like I don’t care bout your comment about not caring 🤷🏻♂️
@@anonym-bd1jp I also don’t care 🤌🏼 lmao
weird comment
Remember Arthur, try to talk slower to sound more masculine. I mean if you want
its not about my hips, its about my tighs
