What's more, I think this safety on the internet is an illusion in more ways than people think, aside from meeting someone even more raving mad. My worry is that our brains don't distinguish what's online and offline well; if you act unhinged on the internet because of a false sense of anonymity/safety, not only does the internet provide echo chambers and unhealthy isolation to push you further into madness, your brain also adapts to these behaviours and makes you better at being an uncontrolled animal, potentially spiralling you from slightly abrasive to full on insane hostility. Then their emotional intensity builds and builds until it explodes in an obscene online comment or they do something irreversible in real life. In the end, it means they dig a far deeper hole for themselves than if they acted with restraint and treated online conversations with the same respect given to face-to-face interactions.

Yeeeaaaaah I also suffer from an unending amount of self-doubt and a clinically low self-esteem that results in me constantly thinking all of my friends and loved ones must hate me for who I am and only spend time with me cause they're nice people I don't deserve, so are willing to abandon me at the drop of a hat cause I'm not worth the trouble of dealing with. I however have never acted like that despicable person and due to having done some bad shit of a lesser scale in the past cause of this issue I have I instead sought help on how to better myself and since learned how to essentially "talk my demons down," cause they never go away, you have to learn to deal with them and realize they don't represent reality. I watched the entire stream yesterday when I got home. I just gotta say Xeems, I'm glad you came out on top here. There were times while watching the stream that I was like, "wow xeems is really just making this guy's life hell." But as we got to know the full story of what desolance actually does to people, it just made me angry that someone hadn't put the guy in his place sooner or at least more permanently. I felt like all the streams reacting to the drama and reading over documents before had just become a precursor to this, which is your own success story and hopefully even a small light for those desolance has wronged. My heart goes out to you and each person in this entire vod who had been the target or helped someone who was forced to take that guy's abuse. I have no words to tell how amazing the people are who have survived this other than magnificent. You all fought and did well. Slight spoiler for maybe a continuation, but seeing Xeems get emotional and even break the man mode persona for a few seconds out of feeling for this was truly eye opening. Omg, I've cross paths with this guy b4! Like 7 months ago! For some reason one of his vids showed up on my recommended and I watched it just to make sure there was no weird shit going down. It was one of his collage vids - there were so many memes and screenshots that literally meant nothing and some how Xeno making popcorn was proof of him being a groomer. What disturbed me most was the comment section at the time, cause so many people thought it was OK. I left a comment telling him that his vid made no sense, then he proceeded to go on my channel and leave comments on some of my vids and a community post of me being happy to find out I got 100 subs. After a very short back and forth I think I blocked him (honestly cant remember it was 7 months ago) and didn't hear anything else until now. Now looking at one of the comments he left - I think he was trying to tell me that he wanted my mom to have a heart attack(?) I honestly don't know. He said: "Mom heart attack" and that's it. Thank God I barely have an internet presence, this guy is crazy! Ps: I do have screenshots, so it's not like I'm pulling this out of my ass. But it's still nothing compared to what ya'll gone through. Glad to c this guy get punished for his actions.
People like these are everywhere. My best friend had someone figure out where she lives and travelled across Europe, went to her house and kept going outside waiting for her even after she told him to leave her alone and blocked him. She got a restraining order eventually but he kept following her in public, leaving only when she noticed him. This was not from FF14, it was from WoW but still.
Give it a few weeks to sink in. Once they show up at his door to drag his ass to prison (or an asylum) he'll finally get the reality check he needs. And hopefully the help he needs, assuming he isn't completely beyond helping at this point.

I couldn't believe that this would be allowed to be on RUclips. If you think you have proof of something go to the cops, but you can't go around defaming someone because you want to. Glad this guy is being held accountable and since it went to court if something was up with Xeno then it should have been presented by the defendant's lawyer, but seeing as Xeno is still making videos. FF14 is widely known for having a good and decent community, and just because people like this exist does not detract from that fact. I just wanted to say thanks for bringing attention to people like this. It's not just in FFXIV, it's rampant in other games and, well, everywhere. I've seen it in WoW. I think the internet has made people "feel too safe" to talk about whatever they want and any way they want about anyone they want on the internet. Until one day they might find someone who is crazier than then.
What's more, I think this safety on the internet is an illusion in more ways than people think, aside from meeting someone even more raving mad.
My worry is that our brains don't distinguish what's online and offline well; if you act unhinged on the internet because of a false sense of anonymity/safety, not only does the internet provide echo chambers and unhealthy isolation to push you further into madness, your brain also adapts to these behaviours and makes you better at being an uncontrolled animal, potentially spiralling you from slightly abrasive to full on insane hostility.
Then their emotional intensity builds and builds until it explodes in an obscene online comment or they do something irreversible in real life. In the end, it means they dig a far deeper hole for themselves than if they acted with restraint and treated online conversations with the same respect given to face-to-face interactions.

Yeeeaaaaah I also suffer from an unending amount of self-doubt and a clinically low self-esteem that results in me constantly thinking all of my friends and loved ones must hate me for who I am and only spend time with me cause they're nice people I don't deserve, so are willing to abandon me at the drop of a hat cause I'm not worth the trouble of dealing with.
I however have never acted like that despicable person and due to having done some bad shit of a lesser scale in the past cause of this issue I have I instead sought help on how to better myself and since learned how to essentially "talk my demons down," cause they never go away, you have to learn to deal with them and realize they don't represent reality. One of the important parts of this though, is that I never went back to the people whom I mistreated and begged for forgiveness or laid out any excuses, cause it doesn't matter and it will never matter, it would have been PURELY selfish for me to reintroduce myself into their lives in such a manner, and it's the same with this fuckwad trying to seek your forgiveness.

I watched the entire stream yesterday when I got home. I just gotta say Xeems, I'm glad you came out on top here.
There were times while watching the stream that I was like, "wow xeems is really just making this guy's life hell." But as we got to know the full story of what desolance actually does to people, it just made me angry that someone hadn't put the guy in his place sooner or at least more permanently. I felt like all the streams reacting to the drama and reading over documents before had just become a precursor to this, which is your own success story and hopefully even a small light for those desolance has wronged. My heart goes out to you and each person in this entire vod who had been the target or helped someone who was forced to take that guy's abuse. I have no words to tell how amazing the people are who have survived this other than magnificent. You all fought and did well.
Slight spoiler for maybe a continuation, but seeing Xeems get emotional and even break the man mode persona for a few seconds out of feeling for this was truly eye opening. I have nothing but mad respect.

For some reason one of his vids showed up on my recommended and I watched it just to make sure there was no weird shit going down. It was one of his collage vids - there were so many memes and screenshots that literally meant nothing and some how Xeno making popcorn was proof of him being a groomer. What disturbed me most was the comment section at the time, cause so many people thought it was OK.
I left a comment telling him that his vid made no sense, then he proceeded to go on my channel and leave comments on some of my vids and a community post of me being happy to find out I got 100 subs. After a very short back and forth I think I blocked him (honestly cant remember it was 7 months ago) and didn't hear anything else until now. Now looking at one of the comments he left - I think he was trying to tell me that he wanted my mom to have a heart attack(?)
I honestly don't know. He said: "Mom heart attack" and that's it.
Thank God I barely have an internet presence, this guy is crazy!

People like these are everywhere. My best friend had someone figure out where she lives and travelled across Europe, went to her house and kept going outside waiting for her even after she told him to leave her alone and blocked him. She got a restraining order eventually but he kept following her in public, leaving only when she noticed him. This was not from FF14, it was from WoW but still.

I actually ran across this guy a few months back and after watching one of his videos. I reported him for harassment/defamatory content. I did that to several of his videos. I couldn't believe that this would be allowed to be on RUclips. If you think you have proof of something go to the cops, but you can't go around defaming someone because you want to. Glad this guy is being held accountable and since it went to court if something was up with Xeno then it should have been presented by the defendant's lawyer, but seeing as Xeno is still making videos. It seems pretty cut and dry. Honestly, its probably what he needed because no one else in his life was telling him to not do this. Court and that measly fine is the best outcome he could hope for, it could have been a lot worse and probably should have been.

I have played most mainstream MMORPGS and even niche ones. For all of the comments saying "I didn't know FF14 was this toxic!?" Any and all MMORPGS, any multiplayer game with a long standing interactive social community have these types of people. Just because you haven't seen it doesn't mean it doesn't exist. FF14 is widely known for having a good and decent community, and just because people like this exist does not detract from that fact. Nothing is perfect and everything has faults, but the good still vastly outweighs the negative.

I just wanted to say thanks for bringing attention to people like this. It's not just in FFXIV, it's rampant in other games and, well, everywhere. I've seen it in WoW. More folks need to be aware there are awful people out there who groom, harass and stalk just because. And that it can happen to anyone.
