(No Avionics) The third was Longbow 2 (Jane's) on Pentium 200MMX with 3Dfx Voodoo 1. Logitech Wingman Extreme And Others! TFX, Flanker 1.3 and so on .... It's amazing in all Times of Computer-History!

When I first played Lock-on Modern Air Combat, I thought the technology already reached to the peak level but it wasn't at all...😂
@@coates1329 Could be from non-flicker free LEDs or simliar pulsating ambient light, IR light pollution when using the controllers or all of that and not enough ambient light when doing handtracking.

I borrowed a quest 2 and a quest 3, the 3 is miles better than the 2 (obviously). It's so friggin' immersive! Way better clarity throughout the lens etc and just overall, its so nice!
Can't wait 'til this stuff actually works smoothly, accurately and consistently with the different headsets out there... will be the next game-changer.
Great video, good chill flying. Hand tracking seems sick, I've always preferred using VR Joycon instead of setting the HOTAS, it wins a lot immersion wise. I don't ever do combats so I don't need to be "fast". I might get my hands on the quest 3 soon.. I'm on Rift S (pre Quest 1) and a 3080 TI, it should handle it.
For some reason with latest updates it doesnt work anymore and you have to bind a left and right click to the controls and then your hand acts as a pointer :(

My carrier landings are different. They must put on fireworks or something because as soon as I touchdown I see fire and explosions and everything goes black.
glitchy :( many times you need to click 2 or 3 times to make it work. I actually have tried to used it on daily basis. Many times. Forget about quick actions. This is DCS problem as does have very narrow trigger zone. The end of the finger need to be in exact depth from button face to trigger. Simply they forgot about switch model collisions and have texture deep trigger zone (means 1 pixel) xD If you try to push button to fast, your finger simply fall through trigger zone and nothing happens.

I use it to complement mouse, it gives additional feeling of presence, just like pilot body. It works good enough for all the upfront stuff. I also bind enabling/disabling hands on joystick, so that I can instantly switch between hands / mouse. Good thing that it's not "vr controllers" anymore, just hands, you can grab flight stick at any moment, proceed clicking on UFC, no extra effort involved.
For me it's not only about speed, it's just ability to reach out and click, I have small wheel on TM F/A-18 grip mapped to Left/Right VR Arm toggle (Up/Down), and Body Toggle (Press), so I can always enable or disable it, and with VR arms disabled mouse works as is, so this is not really limiting, just adding to experience. Also I noticed with a bit of practice "clicking" works much better. Also try to light up your hands that seems to improve tracking to me. @@gonvise
Good timing on this video for me. I finally have the settings on the Q3 for DCS and I’m running it through VR desktop without any issues. I did manage to get the hands to display but nothing like what you’re doing. I admit I’m VR newcomer, it’s starting to make sense. Run in stand alone version, a screenshot of your VR and special page would clarify a lot for this guy, always getting splashed in DCS pilot.
im not entirely sure about the FOV, like i think in real life you see wider that the FOV you have in the game so even with quest3 you kinda had a zoommed version that doesnt reflect what you would see in real life
This is a portion of recorded screen in the video, it's about 1/3 of what I actually see in Quest3. This caused by image stabilisation, that cuts parts of the screen to smoothen VR head shaking, and also it was cut to 19:9 aspect ratio. FOV in the headset is very good, and not a problem at all.

I wasn't aware of V63 link update as it wasn't rolled out for me at the moment when I recorded a video, and was using V63 of Quest software ,but V62 Link. Now It is borked for me as well, I just figured how I can bypass issues by using Virtual Desktop, so hope to post an update soon(ish)
Yep, I concur, had problems recording new video because of this. Search for V62 install files, and re-install oculus software, unfortunately this seems to be the only fix now.
It's acceptable, I tried various hand tracking in the past, but this one is actually something I can use. Problem is not in the wobbliness, but more in that you don't touch physical surface, and have to learn to "press air", but it's the first time tech like this is actually playable in my book. Especially for the buttons, not so much for switches or dials.

1. Buttons work well, 2. Switches work ok, but less reliable, 3. Turning knobs doesn't work well at all, basically these controls were designed by ED team for controllers, and not really for actual hands, I hope they see that more people are interested in the topic and will improve this aspect.
EDIT (Will this work for a Quest Pro?) Looks like a no. I also use the wired connection which virtual desktop doesn't want to work with at all, from what I can see

I use rudder pedals, and I use HOTAS for flying. Ability to finally reach-out and use hands for cockpit interactions in VR is a nice new feature in DCS.
Well of course... they provide this functionality and at the same time break DCS running in the Quest Link software. For me, when I try to start up DCS while using the Quest Link software, DCS crashes before it gets to the menu (known bug, ED says it needs to figure out what Meta changed and Meta says it's ED's problem -- even though it was Meta that updated and caused the issue). If anyone has a solution to that bug, I would love to try this out. Until then, I am stuck using Virtual Desktop or Steam Link (neither of which give me the performance that Quest Link did).

It seriously depends on the lighting conditions in the room unfortunately. And contact meshes of the buttons in DCS are way too shallow, needs some practice. But it's okay as a drop-in extra feature, to all the hardware and software solutions we already have.
My main flight rig is i9-9900KS, RTX 3090Ti, 64GB RAM. There are guides out there to help you tweak the settings just right, but I might make mine as well.

VR and gloves has to be so much better than the typical airliner simulator building. Vastly cheaper too
Probably both combined would be the best. That way you can see your hand in game, but also actually feel each button press too.

This does not work for me, when I enable trackers, DCS crashes. Currently, Quest 3 hand tracking is useless both in DCS and MSFS.
Crash to Desktop issue should be fixed with latest DCS update according to dev logs

I record onboard of Quest3, with Medium or High setting on image stabilization, 20Mbps bitrate, Full-HD resolution, highest quality preset
How hard is it to hit those buttons on fly? I mean are they how accurate / any "wobblyness"? anytime hit wrong buttons for example..?

I used mod for color MFDs, but also they are less reflective when flying in the shadow below clouds.

Of course virtual desktop doesn't work with a wired connection. It's sole purpose is to connect your quest wirelessly to your pc.

No, I use HOTAS + Rudder Pedals to actually fly and fight the plane. Hands for UFC / MFD

@@MikeSwanbergthere is a fix out there, involves copying some older Oculus folders/files on the DCS forums.
