Closest experience you can have is going out an buying a dodge viper ACR. Strip the interior down to the seat, stick, pedals and wheel. Next toss some rock hard coilovers and springs all way round. Lower it down and stiffen up those shocks. Next up, weld the rear diff, straight pipe the exhaust, and brace the front and rear. Go out in the rain on a garbage road, no assistants, and it will give you an indication of what the steam powdered launch system is like.
I was ships company on the Theodore Roosevelt CVN-71 from 86 just after she was commissioned to 90 and left right before Desert Storm. I was an Aviation Ordnanceman (AO2) with the G-3 Division of the Weapons department. We were the Mag Rats. My job was all the weapons that attached to the aircraft. Once I made second class I was the QA for the missile magazines. Every Phoenix, Sparrow and Sidewinder that left the magazine had my initials in grease pencil affirming that they were assembled correctly and are configured correctly. If there was an issue, I would head up to the bomb farm behind the Island to check out the problem and fix it if possible. The ARM/DEARM crews were very hard on the arming levers and would break them. Many times arming wires on Mk 82/83/84's were fouled from poor handling, that kind of stuff. I was also one of the few who was sent to the Maverick A School for training so any issues with Mavericks were my job too. So you can imagine when I found DCS I was all in. And at that time we were still using the Tomcat B's, The Hornet C & D, the Intruders, Vikings, Hawkeyes and the Sea King helo's. I remember my first Med cruise during an UNREP we offloaded all our Standard ARM's and onloaded the HARMs that were just coming to the fleet in large numbers. Anyways, your video is very close to what the flight deck looked like (within limits of DCS) Many people make the mistake of spreading things out too far. The real flight deck and hangar bay was packed together like sardines in a can. There was 6" between wingtips and you could walk from one end of the hangar bay to the other without touching the deck. Just walk from jet to jet. Space is at a premium and none of it is wasted.
@@azrzgaming They could make a Super Hornet but only a really early variant that's almost indistinguishable from the Legacy Hornet in terms of its systems.
@@ulkazil8513 ED should get over their requirement to make 100% accurate modules. We want fun planes to fly. If servers want to only allow modules with systems based off of public information then they can and let the rest of us enjoy a wider array of modules based off of best guesses. It's will be the downfall of DCS. Some other simulator will come by that will implement modules like the F35 and FA18 Super Hornet and modern next gen missiles. I dont see how there's a future of modern jets in DCS when a third party tries to bring a module to market and ED pisses them off enough to make them stop development entirely.
Wrong; DCS players want high fidelity planes to fly. And most DCS players don't even like modern jets, the biggest demand is the Cold War and post-Cold War period. Son, go play War Thunder.

I started DCS just like you did years back and it was really hard but with proper time effort and passion you should be able to master modules you're interested in, I would recommend you to do the following try the F-18C module / purchase it, watch tutorials over and over in your spare time, apply them in DCS then simply them in your own words I have a note file for each module with my own terminology to recall how to do things since naming functions / required keys is the tricky part! Also you can join DCS discord server and ask for help people are very friendly there! You can trust me when I say that nothing can brings more joy than launching a jet fighter from Super Carrier!

This simulator game has really great graphics and sound design. And certainly looks like one of the better Sims for this class of aircraft . Comments have been made regarding the accuracy of a night take off from B aircraft carrier . For a Sim game some aspects maybe simplified to make the experience easier which makes sense . Sims that actual pilots train from are the real deal , and Sim games are for a bit of fun which is fair enough.
Couldn't figure out why the textures in the cockpit looked a bit shittier than they normally do. Then I saw the F-18"E" and it clicked - this is a mod.
Man I don't get it I've got all my graphics at maximum and it does not look that good did you do some post-processing after you recorded the video or something
Hello there mate Carriers use it's own navigation aid (TACAN) so whenever you're in proximity and request inbound you will receive directions from Carrier Crew to inform you about the heading of that Carrier, when you select TACAN in HSI you will have your aircraft distance from that TACAN, I recommend you go through tutorials on how to land an F18 on an aircraft carrier in DCS first before trying to do it yourself!

Damage model is still so bad in this game. Missile flight model also still sucks, looks like it's in space with no resistance. I've been flying this sim since lockon and they still refuse to fix basic mechanics and instead make new modules they'll never finish.
I understand that you're looking for certain level of realism but to some extent this is a game after all! Don't be one of these people who would throw negativity on anything mate! Have a great weekend.

From my understanding rain removal isn't modeled yet DCS if you have the F-4E you will notice that, I believe that it will be modeled at someone point in future 🙏
Key word there is civil. While the US Military is restricted in some operations by civil authorities they're not a civil body and fly by their own set of regulations on top of whatever civil ones may apply to them depending on the airspace they're in. Especially since this is carrier operations and not airfield operations their "airspace" is controlled by Carrier Air Traffic Control Center (CATCC). While the video doesn't necessarily operate 1:1 with real life they're not wrong for flying past that 250knot limit.

I flew the real F/A-18 in the USN, 250 below 10k restriction does not apply to us. I’ve brought the jet into the break at an airfield at 635KCAS and 800’. We do low levels at 200’ and 480-540KCAS.

I'm using a thrustmaster hotas and for the camera I use my High Dp mouse for smoother movements as much as possible

I'm using overcast and rain 2 or 3 with lil foggy conditions it was around 5 am so you take off in complete darkness and return just upon dawn

Key word there is civil. While the US Military is restricted in some operations by civil authorities they're not a civil body and fly by their own set of regulations on top of whatever civil ones may apply to them depending on the airspace they're in. Especially since this is carrier operations and not airfield operations their "airspace" is controlled by Carrier Air Traffic Control Center (CATCC). While the video doesn't necessarily operate 1:1 with real life they're not wrong for flying past that 250knot limit.

§ 91.117 Aircraft speed.
(a) Unless otherwise authorized by the Administrator, no person may operate an aircraft below 10,000 feet MSL at an indicated airspeed of more than 250 knots (288 m.p.h.).
(b) Unless otherwise authorized or required by ATC, no person may operate an aircraft at or below 2,500 feet above the surface within 4 nautical miles of the primary airport of a Class C or Class D airspace area at an indicated airspeed of more than 200 knots (230 mph.). This paragraph (b) does not apply to any operations within a Class B airspace area. Such operations shall comply with paragraph (a) of this section.
(c) No person may operate an aircraft in the airspace underlying a Class B airspace area designated for an airport or in a VFR corridor designated through such a Class B airspace area, at an indicated airspeed of more than 200 knots (230 mph).
(d) If the minimum safe airspeed for any particular operation is greater than the maximum speed prescribed in this section, the aircraft may be operated at that minimum speed.

I flew the real F/A-18 in the USN, 250 below 10k restriction does not apply to us. I’ve brought the jet into the break at an airfield at 635KCAS and 800’. We do low levels at 200’ and 480-540KCAS.
