Tore mine with a combination of jiu-jitsu and weightlifting. Medial bucket handle tear. My knee was locked up could not fully extend the leg. I had it repaired and as he points out it took way longer than a meniscectomy would to heal. I did not choose one over the other because as he points out the Dr. often decides once he's in there and you are under anesthesia. But personally, I regret not having asked for the removal. It's been about a year and a half and my knee flares up with exercise, it swells, and I feel a little catching whenever I sit criss-cross or cross legs while seated. Won't ever feel confident going 100% output again, and I can't help but think what if. And not to sound ungrateful because it certainly beats not being able to walk without crutches, but it still sucks.
thanks for the really good explanation , I am 38, I have an oblique tear in the lateral meniscus of 2.2 cm with a small 4 mm cyst, and decided to repair it with sutures and prp injection , ma question is because it's now more than 4months I have it and I need to wait 2 and half month to have an appointment for the operation , what could I do in order to preserve my knew Knowing that I am a tennis player and I don't feel to much pain ( should I put some ice and anti inflammatory cream? if I feel it a bit painful sometime ?) best regards. Jérémy.
according to my MRI reports I have a grade II tear in the posterior horn of medial meniscus extending to external capsular surface nd lateral meniscus show grade I signal in the anterior and posterior horn and grade II signal in the body extending to external capsular surface my physio suggested me to continue with physiotherapy what should I go with plz reply 🙏
