Its great to see duvall come forward more. I still find him really under used, when if your a fan of comes to the fall you know he can sing. This guy has skills and so I'm glad he is slowly but surely coming forth a bit. Never replacing layne but being a true great frontman as layne would want. Always have been and always will be a fan of alice in chains as well as jerry's solo work, layne's work with mad season and class of 99, and duvall's work in comes with the fall.
jerry cantrell is one of the greatest artists in rock history - both with writing lyrics and with composing music. what incredible contributions this band has given, in the staley era and now with duvall. like they do so often, they go from something heavy, ugly, full of despair and torment, into some crazy beautiful chorus...."angry chair" comes to mind: "what do i see across the haze?!?!" followed by the melodic "i dont mind, yea".
While I agree whole heartedly with pretty every thing you said, it was actually Layne who wrote all of angry chair (was one of the few songs he wrote for AIC that Cantrell did not)
ah, thanks for setting the record straight. come to think of it, i havent read liner notes in - 20+ years??? they used to be fun (look at Motley Crue's "Shout at the Devil" liner notes and imagine what an impressionable 15 year old would think. haha....but yea, AIC is MY pink floyd or led zeppelin....(not to take anything away from the great, immortal Led Zeppelin!).
You might be right... The song I love the best is "Head Creeps", and I also love "Hate to feel", both written entirely by Layne Staley, maybe that's why I love them so much. Other songs that I like are "Would?", this itself "Phantom Limb", "A looking in view", "Lesson learned", etc...
They need to let Slick Willy write more on the albums. Seems like each album so far he's been on he gets one song writing credit and those end up being my favorite on the album.

If you've never heard of Comes With The all, it's William's band before he joined Alice in Chains. Mike, Sean and Jerry pretty much ended that band by giving the invitation to William. They used to open for Jerry on his tour for Degredation Trip. (I think Dickeye is from that, awesome song) And then they would towel off and come back out as Jerry's backing band.
Maybe you're referring to the Chorus. In the chorus of this live version, you can hear Cantrell's voice louder than William's, in the part of "I'll just haunt you like a phantom limb, I'll just haunt you like a phantom limb, gonna wear you like a second skin." Very Cobainistic voice of Cantrell.
like to see people givin William some praise the new album ,in my opinion sounds better live than the disc, doesn't translate quite as well but shit its alice in chains A DREAM COME TRUE keep playin boyz

They played it too fast here... this song gets its heaviness from its slow, chugging riff and played fast it loses some of its sledgehammer power!
Duvall is nothing without Jerry ! .. simple ( Duvall shreds though )
Drummer is so annoying. The stuff he puts together is great but every time he gets to a fill he speeds up!!
