Fun fact: The wardrobe budget for the film was $100,000, but the film was able to use at least $1 million worth of clothing thanks to the fashion industry's generosity
I think lowkey ur underestimating how IMPORTANT and POWERFUL fashion is especially in NYC. miranda's power is like anna wintour's where its immense. It's not just a magazine and he explains why.
i'm sorry, but i've always hated nate as a boyfriend. he's the real villain if you ask me. he's incredibly whiny and selfish about the birthday thing and to give her grief over it even though she had a legit work-related excuse, is just childish. whether she was actually into her new job or not, a loving and actually supportive partner would let her figure things out for herself without steering her in the direction that works better for him. that's just manipulative. it really solidifies for me in the end when she quits, while he gets his dream job and all of sudden they're cool again. that just rubs me wrong.
The bday was actually pretty reasonable to me. She could've shot him a text that she wouldn't make it. It's not childish to feel hurt you got stood up by your significant other.
@@sadisticwinter8354 she didn’t stand him up. She told her friend who was there to let him know. Naturally he was probably busy and she had to get back to work. They were all celebrating not just them. She was just later than anticipated.
Her friends were horrible especially that boyfriend. Andy was growing as a person and finding new interests. She is so better than him. The job was only for 1 year and he couldn't even to that. Dump his ass.
The boyfriend was the worst part. I hated him so much. In the book, they're done for good, which is the better outcome imho. Also, Miranda said Andy was the 'biggest disappointment' because she was the best assistant she'd ever had, and she left. Which is why she followed it up with 'if you don't hire her, you're an idiot'.
The thing I didn’t like about the boyfriend was… She stated at the beginning that she was taking the job for a year so it could open doors for her where she really wanted to be… she just had to be 100% dedicated for 1yr then she could move on… he couldn’t stand behind her even though he knew it wasn’t permanent…
Seeing him say loyal boyfriend 😂I thought I was the only one that hated Nate till I read the comments glad to know I wasn't the only one an her friends don't even get me started she deserved so much better than them! I was so happy when they broke up like yes girl get away from that man and level up he wasn't worth the guilt he forced on you, he agreed to the one year thing and he started acting up within month like nah we over she shouldn't have to put up with his bull🖐🏼
It's always the male reactors agreeing with Nate and the friends. I believe it's because they don't understand how difficult it is for women who want to chase a career and a passion to actually be supported by their surroundings because we are meant to be soft and warm and loving and family drive and not being so is not well seen by the world. So Andy kinda understood the issue when she said the harsh truth that is if Miranda was a man no one would bat an eye. Cause a man leaving everything aside for his job means he's driven and focused on a goal but if it's a woman she's cold and mean.
In Andy, Miranda sees a younger version of herself. Ambitious, hopeful, passionate, smart... She believes that with the right stimuli Andy will make the same choices she did, bit by bit choose her own success over connection and community, betraying and losing relationships, therefore validating the choices Miranda made. But when Andy doesn't take that route, then I think Miranda feels like there's a version of herself out there who made different choices than the ones that left her cold and isolated, and she has some love for Andy like she might for her past self. When she says Andy was her biggest disappointment it's because Andy left and didn't live up to the potential success Miranda saw in her, but he's an idiot if he doesn't hire her because Miranda still considers her remarkably capable (like herself).
When they say “if you can make it in NY you can make it anywhere” that’s what they mean lol. We are just bred differently. Funny thing is, if Miranda were a man, most ppl wouldn’t bat an eye about his toughness or bad behavior. Also, this a great example of the patriarchy. Men are never expected to compromise their jobs for their relationships. Women are always expected to be supportive. He couldn’t be supportive for ONE year while she does something to advance her career. Nate is the true villain in my opinion. Crying anytime she didn’t bend to his schedule and will. She ended up being attracted to the writer bc he was more supportive than her own boyfriend.
A classic! Miranda Priestly has become such an iconic character. Been a lot of talk in recent years about Andy’s BF & friends. They’re not perfect, no friend group is. And at this stage of Andy building & sacrificing for her career this relationship, or maybe any at all, is not compatible. Still, I wouldn’t label any of them as actually toxic. Andy saw herself heading down the path of becoming like Miranda, which is totally fine if that’s what she wants. But she literally says that she doesn’t want to be like Miranda, and that’s why she quits. Yes, she was trying to advance her career, but I wouldn’t say most of her friends’ criticisms/actions were too crazy (except tryna talk to Miranda when she called Andy - that’s not ok to mess with people’s work). They pointed out that she was different, and she was, that’s ok. It was Andy’s decision which way she wanted to go in life. In this case, she saw an extreme example in Miranda of where she may end up if she keeps putting her job first, and she didn’t want that. A lot of people say it was only going to be for a year & her BF should have been mode supportive, but it just as easily might not have been. She had friends at work, she liked the perks, she was good at her job - she may have decided to stay on for longer.
What Andy’s bf didn’t consider was that she’s furthering her career. And not saying she had to sacrifice her whole relationship but he needed to allow some wiggle room and should’ve been understanding when she was missing things to better her future. Like at the gala when the blonde guy was going to introduce her to the editor. Even if the blonde guy was trying to hit, meeting an editor and getting her name known would’ve been so beneficial to her career. Every job is fueled by connections more than talent. It’s who you know and not what you know that matters. Also considering that this job was only for a year, her bf could’ve just chilled out for a year. They could’ve had a convo like “this year will be hard for me and I won’t be as present and you have to understand that.” If he couldn’t handle this one year, they wouldn’t last through other life issues either. And the fact that you kept wanting her to choose her bf over work every time, makes me think you also would keep your gf from furthering herself and chose you over herself and not allowing room for anyone to grow.
I think that Andy was mostly in the right. Her boyfriend and her friends were in the wrong. Here’s why: Andy states in the movie that she can work for Miranda and then do what she came to New York to do. So basically Andy had to move to New York, which required time, effort, and money. People go to New York City because they want to pursue something in a very passionate and focused way. NYC is competitive and intense environment and you have to milk whatever opportunity that comes your way. It’s unreasonable for Nate to not want Andy to give 110%. That’s what is required to make it. Andy needs to network and get into important spaces so it can open doors. Working with Miranda not only did that for her, but even at the end of the movie she was dressed more sophisticated, chic, and looked more like a self assured and accomplished woman. Nate wants more of a sidekick girl, and he needs to move to Nashville or some other place that doesn’t necessarily require people to have to operate in a high intense mode just to get a job. Then he and his sidekick can focus more on relationship. Nate is a hypocrite because he wants Andy to focus more on relationship than trying to integrate herself into life in NYC, but he doesn’t have to sacrifice anything to integrate himself into HIS Career. He doesn’t stand to lose anything because it is all going smooth for him. Also, the entire film hints that Nate thinks Fashion is shallow and unnecessary, but being a chef is the same. Just like frilly fashionable clothing isn’t essential, neither are fancy five star meals garnished with cute edible flowers. A simple meal of steamed veggies and chicken with beans and rice is all any human needs. No one needs pretty looking food served in a restaurant, just like no one needs pretty dresses. Why is Nate cooking $300 lavish meals any more serious than Andy working in an industry that creates lavish outfits? it’s a total double standard.
14:33 🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑 they pay a bunch of people to shut down the entire road, they pay a bunch of businesses for lost time and wages and they get their few takes done. then they repeat it across town until they get all the needed shots to make the movie. Welcome to why so many films use soundstages and other major cities; they're cheaper. Edit: adding, you're absolutely right, there's A LOT of people to deal with, which is why the fims use those folks as unpaid extras.
As to why Miranda acts this way...this was 2006, and the way they talk about her she has been at this job for more than 20 years. As someone who grew up in the 1980s I can attest that the popular opinion at the time was that the only way a woman could succeed and could stay at the top like Miranda does was by being not just tough, but ruthless. Women were not given the same opportunities as men because "Eventually she's going to have kids and then she's going to calling out or going home early to do 'mom things'. And she's going to have too much sympathy for all the excuses employees use for not giving us 210% of their time and mental focus." It's that whole view of Mom lets the kids get away with everything, and only a stern Father can keep discipline and order. Andy said herself; if Miranda was a man, no one would be going on and on about her being tough. It's just _expected_ that a man in her position would be tough, probably rude, and can't be bothered with the "reasons" why their employees can't get their tasks done. As for why Andy is putting up with it, it's because the ENTIRE New York publishing industry is aware Miranda is a tough perfectionist, and anyone who survives a year working for her is someone able to handle the pressure cooker of the industry and has demonstrated commitment to their work. A recommendation from her opens doors for Andy and makes it easier for her to get a job in her preferred field.
Native New Yorker (born and raised, not colonized) here, about 5 minutes in to watching your review: -yes, they do shut down entire streets for movie shoots. yes, it is damn inconvenient.
Edit: Another good movie I recommend is Julie & Julia. Its pretty much a biopic of Julia Child's life, another banger out of Meryl Streep featuring Amy Adams.
Oh gosh, this just makes me want to recommend Easy A and Burlesque. Stanley Tucci is so good in everything he does, honestly, but those are some of my faves. ❤️
I was in NYC once, and while walking, I reached a corner, and a guy, who was walking like 50 feet ahead of a filming crew was shooing away people Loudly, saying: "You're in the shot!, you're in the shot!" really imperiously. I turned around and hid in a bank for 10 min.. never even saw what they were filming. He was just that full of authority. Hehehehe. I'm aslo an introvert, so.
24:04 🤣 Actually, Emily Blunt's character says "No, shan't" (not 'No shot') when Andy says to wish her luck. It's one of the funniest line deliveries from Emily ever, in my opinion.
When Miranda refers to Andi as, "...the biggest disappointment...", I like to believe that she's referring to her disappointment about losing the best assistant she ever had. 😁
The opening scene is a juxtaposition showing how all these other women applying for the same job are getting ready in designer, scaling their food, and going the extra mile for "beauty" and taking cabs as opposed to the subway, whereas Andy's life is more simple and not as luxurious as the other ladies. Also, the thing is, Andy's problem was that she kept saying she's still the same person when clearly she was changing and that doesn't mean it's a bad thing. She eventually started enjoying her job and she was actually GOOD at it. If she had just owned up to it, then she wouldn't have gotten so much flack from her friends. HOWEVER, her friends and her boyfriend were also trying to guilt her for finding a new passion or at least interest. Instead of supporting her, they still talked down about her job and that was just disrespectful. So that was very selfish on their end, because the boyfriend wanted her to be the same person and her friends wanted her to be the same person for their own interests. And how hypocritical that in the end, Nate gets a job as a sous chef and Andy supports him because she knows he's passionate for cooking. But when she was showing interest in fashion he made her feel bad about it. Also the friends are annoying as hell because she's here giving you free expensive gifts and they're playing around with her livelihood. Like they didn't take her job seriously when it was a means for her dream to be a journalist, so what if she got fired because of them and no other publication would want to work with her? Also, the scene where Miranda explains the turquoise belt colour scene is one of the best scenes. She basically said that while Andy (like many of us) think we are non-conforming, the reality is that most of our consumerism isn't based on autonomy. More so, people think they're above it and so Andy thought she made this choice of wearing that blue (Cerulean) sweater, but as Miranda explained, that colour was first shown in an haute couture fashion show and then through various designers until it came down to the bargain bin. So while Andy is laughing at how people are freaking out over something that may seem so small, Miranda humbled her by telling her that she is actually just a sheep that is told what to wear by the people who she is laughing at. Also, it wasn't buying Emily back with the clothes in a superficial way, it was a callback. Earlier, when Emily was in the hospital she said "the thing that bugs me the most is all the clothes you're going to get" and Andy decided to give them to her since she couldn't go on the trip that she's been wanting to for her entire career, mostly for the free designer clothing.
This is the first time I've seen this movie from the eyes of a guy, because I think if the roles were reversed your opinion would be different, it's a cultural thing. I disagree with your opinions regarding her boyfriend, I think the point of it is finding your limits. How far are you willing to go. She was going through it and she found it. I think her boyfriend did not see that.
At 16, Emily Blunt was offered a record deal after a producer spotted her in the musical 'Bliss' at the Edinburgh Festival. I guess that was her first job. The guy you recognized is Simon Baker, best known for playing Patrick Jane in the series "The Mentalist".
Synopsis to the sequel below per Meryl's IMDB page, though I've read that making the film is still not officially confirmed. But I've also read that principal photography begins at the end of this month, in which case it's a done deal. "Follows Miranda Priestly's struggle against Emily Charlton, her former assistant turned rival executive, as they compete for advertising revenue amidst declining print media while Miranda nears retirement."
I really loved hearing your perspective on the relationship because personally as the woman I felt very much on her side because the high stakes of the fashion industry can do so much to you and then when you have a partner who isn’t the most supportive it can really make you rethink a lot of things- if I was in this position- but I know if I was the dude who didn’t really understand the pressures of the fashion industry I could also see myself understanding him a lot more too. personally for me, it was the blonde journalist that really would have upset me as the dude
never worked in the fashion industry, but I work in politics, which is also pretty demanding - there is nothing more relatable to me than watching that girl come home and drink a glass of wine for dinner! Even if I fumble to the kitchen and make a meal for my spouse, my dinner just be a glass of wine and anger 😭
Fellow rochestarion here, very proud of your accomplishments keep up the good work.imo her friends, especially her boyfriend didn't want to accept her growth.
"According to the Production List website (an official site which monitors all major film and TV projects currently in pre-production and active development), shooting for the Devil Wears Prada sequel is expected to begin on November 30th." Princess Diaries 3 filming expected to begin in 2025.
14:30 . They put up flyers weeks in advance that the site is going to be filmed . Then depending on production.. the streets will be closed off . For this movie they probably did not shut it down
Thanks for the reaction!! Please react to The Intern. You could say it's a role reversal. Ann Hathaway is a boss there and the intern is Robert De Niro. It is a great movie
Sorry but Andy deserved better. Nate was a horrible boyfriend. So what she came late for your birthday. Your life must be perfect if the worst thing that happened to you is your girlfriend missing your birthday because she is working smh. Her friends were just as bad. She wasn't being supported by anyone so I see why the attention and support of someone else would seduce her. If it was a man in her shoes, putting his career first, no one would say a thing.
@@Knightowl1980you can feel neglected without being a baby about it, sulking and berating her job like she’s whoring herself out and it’s beneath HIM. Not her, beneath HIM. He extended no understanding to her situation despite being fully aware of what was to come ahead of time, she set a time limit on it. You’re gonna tell me that working in an nyc restaurant doesn’t call for late and irregular hours with unexpected overtime? PLEASE. Instead of supporting her, he CHOSE to make it a difficult choice for her and suckle on his feeling of neglect. His partner is getting terrorized at work and the best he can do is « aw missed my bday :( »
Full on press: 😂 I never spent money on a “bag” bag. I still rock a book bag, my most recent one was $23. I have a birthday mini bag though that was $50 (I didn’t pay). My mom is the resident fashionista. I hate it.
I find it interesting, that the woman who wrote the book 'Devil Wears Prada' based it on her experience of working as an assistant to Ana Wintour. What kind of boss is that woman?
One fabulous exception to that is the movie, Julie and Julia. Nora Ephron (directed) was a huge foodie and really wanted the cast to devour and appreciate the food. After all, food is pretty much a main character of the movie. 😃
Streeps wig in this movie is phenomenal -Nate is not a villain -I think the story they’re going with for the sequel has to do with Miranda being an awful boss, an expose that will get her canceled (think Ellen) and I’m sure Andy will be the one to write it or to rehabilitate her image.
Loved your reaction to this movie And this has nothing to do with the movie, but you should react to Honey & Honey 2 because Kat Graham is the main character in Honey 2 (since before this movie reaction I watched all your step up movie reactions & what you said in the beginning of the video of your reaction to the last step up got me thinking about these 2 movies)
As for filming in New York City, lots of movies set in New York are filmed in Toronto (Canada). I live in Toronto and recognize a lot of places in movies set in New York.
The movie tried to humanize Miranda at 37:21 where you feel a bit sorry for her as she talks about her impending divorce (yet another one), but that sympathy didn't last long for me. I agree that Miranda spends her life being a 'douchebag' to people and is a toxic boss, so she is just getting a little bit of the karma she deserves.
That’s ok! Different views aren’t a bad thing it’s just being human. Also this was my first watch, sometimes watching it another time I catch different views from it! 😊
I think the issue with the relationship is that it’s only for one year and that’s all they should think about and I know it’s easier said than done but if they just communicated and she was like listen like I know I’ve changed, but I have to to keep this job and I only have a couple more months left And then I can do whatever I want for the rest of my life but because they’re not talking he might feel some type of way about it. He’s not getting attention that he is used to and instead of reassuring him saying it’s only a year it just escalates
So, potentially controversial opinion because everyone tends to make this a Team Andy or Team Nate thing trying to find who is the bug bad of the movie, but I think the whole point is that all the characters are flawed and not communicating. Instead of getting a nice sit down scene with Andy and Nate where they hash out frustration we instead get passive aggressive comments and one liners. Andy is happy to buy her friends happiness and forgiveness rather than standing up for her behavior. It would have been easy to have Andy say either, 'this is what I, we, signed up for when I applied for this job so stand by me or stand aside' or 'guys I didn't realize just how big this job was but I want to keep trying, can you help? '. Either would have given ample opportunity for character growth from Andy, Nate, and their friends. Instead we're left to our own biases and devices to judge relationships we know very little about. In my opinion Andy and Nate are both asking for support without actually communicating or giving support in return. Miranda is the only one proving clear expectations and that's just because it's litterally Andy's Job. Miranda is a characature of what we expected a career oriented women to be and act like to get ahead in a cutthroat industry back in the early 2000s which included expecting her to be unlikable and hard to work for. This picture of a business women has not aged well thank goodness
unpopular opinion maybe - nate and andy are not compatible and he was right to want to end things. i used to dislike nate bc they both agreed at the beginning that it was only for one year, so I never understood why within that same year he felt so betrayed by her commitment to her job. That said Andy becoming a workaholic is not just due to the industry - I’m finally accepting this label myself after years of my spouse calling me a workaholic and it’s very much just in me - regardless of what industry I’m in I live my job and in fact, it’s even worse when I actually like what I do…. So I have a feeling that even when Andy gets that job at a newspaper she will likely still be a workaholic, and they will not work out because that is not Nate’s cup of tea. And that’s his right. Everyone doesn’t want to date that
I don’t think that’s unpopular at all. Based on the comments I’ve read, many from women, it’s more the fact that Nate STAYS in the relationship and GUILTS/CRAPS on her instead of just saying “it’s not working out” or “we barely see each other anymore”. And similar to your other point, this same stuff would’ve happened if Andy was a reporter, she’d have a big story and either be at the office or falling asleep on the couch with a laptop and papers on her lap. Meanwhile, Nate being a sous chef means he would’ve ditched her for work all the time. Imagine the craziness if she quit Runway prematurely for him and he got a job and suddenly was gone all the time…
I worked at a company for 4 years and our manager left. I applied for the position, but they hired someone who never worked there a day in her life! To add insult to injury, they wanted me to train her!! Bitter, party of one, your table is now available. Bitter, party of one.
Mr. Flicks I am the same way... was just thinking about this yesterday.....if i like it ....i buy it.....people be like that's out of style...or whatever ....idc! 🤷🏽♀️ If it looks good on me or i like it, that's all that matters ...
I really don't think Andi was being a bad friend. Yes, it's true that Emily was the one going to Paris originally but now Andy was. However, Andy didn't do anything wrong, she did her job,, she didn't go about purposefully sabotaging Emily's chance to go. She honestly never did something with ill intentions. I do feel she should bot have hooked up with that Christian guy and should have not allowed the flirting to go on. Though she did change throughout the movie, you could still see that she mostly remained her genuine,, good self. She did her job well, she helped Emily out even if the latter was not always kind to her, she have her friends the products she got at work, she tried her best to let Miranda what was going on, she gave Emily all the new clothes she got in Paris as she knew this is something Emily had been looking forward to, she consoled Nigel, and more.. Yes, she made mistakes along the way but also remained almost her true self and even left the job even if that might have hurt her chances of working elsewhere, she apologized to Nate and to Emily. I never liked Nate as her boyfriend. He reminded me of Dean from Gilmore Girls, and Derrick Shepherd on Grey's Anatomy. Yes, they might seem sweet and they say they love the girl but honestly they complain and whine when their girl succeeds or accomplishes something in her career. Q
Choices, Choices, Choices! How far will one go....? Very toxic environment that will help you grow a backbone of STEEL!! "CRUELLA" 2021 is another you will love if you loved this. 💕💕
Nate came across to me as really unsupportive. People can do anything for a short period of time - Andy was clearly in it for what the experience would gain her afterwards, including the makeover. One year with Miranda and she would have that. They absolutely could have readjusted to the crazy hours and demands, they just didn't. It was lazy writing by the author of the book this is based on, and lazy for this movie too.
Just like in Princess Diaries, Anne Hathaway is again saddled with a horrible friend/ friend group XD They don't like seeing her with helpful friends apparently lol Did she get swept up by work, yes, but she was just trying to get through it for a year. And they were making fun of her and her outfits, trying to sabotage her job by jokingly answering her work call. But they were oh so excited to receive work gifts from her just like Lilly excitedly accepting limo rides from Mia and trying to use her for her podcast thing.
I have worked as an EXTRA for TV shows and Commercials in Miami where a lot of Films, Music Videos, Commercials are filmed. The AREA is Blocked Off during the Shoot. It could be a Whole Street, Block, Square of a city or town....ALL the people you SEE besides the Principal Actors in the Shoot or FRAME are ALL Paid Extras. All the Scenes of the Stars/Actors just walking, getting on/off cars etc are Shot and Re-Shot a few times. AND the Actors and the Extras have the SAME SPECIFIC STEPS and DIRECTON that you do Over and Over until the Director yells "PRINT". Meaning DONE.
Paused because you mentioned Ella Enchanted. The only Ella Enchanted movie I'd be happy to see is one that actually follows the story in the book. The first one is a travesty. It hurts my soul that everyone (who hasn't read the book) loves that movie.
In the book Miranda is nothing but a d-bag. Not a single likeable thing about her. I've read that it was Meryl Streep that insisted on bringing just that little tiny bit of relatability into her character. Whoever made that decision was right for doing it. I'm pretty sure the movie wouldn't have worked without it.
Pleaseee consider some of these they r wholesomee: "Jane Eyre 1996","up in the air", "the help", "the walk" , "the count of monte christo pleasee reply if u want to consider
I have watched this movie so many times and have always been mad at the boyfriends reaction to her growing at her job that was only for a year but you have me looking at it differently. He was watching the woman he has been with become consumed by a job and boss who are not looking out for her and in a way is emotionally abusing her. How he goes about it though was not the best. He chooses to become aggressive and even acting like a pouting child. I always was against anns character relationship with the other man. No matters what is going on in your relationship letting another man kiss or touch you in an intimate way while being in a relationship is wrong. If you feel that way then you need to talk to your partner. Clearly something is missing in your relationship and you need to figure out if you both can mend the part thats missing or if it is best to separate and find a person who can. Anyways this is probably my longest comment and I hope it made sense.
Fun fact: The wardrobe budget for the film was $100,000, but the film was able to use at least $1 million worth of clothing thanks to the fashion industry's generosity
They did get some free marketing out of the deal
Stanley Tucci’s sister-in-law is Emily Blunt! He married her sister after they met at this movie’s premiere!!
WHAT THATS SO COOL
Didn't they meet at Emily's wedding?
Whoa!! That's crazy!!❤❤❤
11:39 "why is no one ready?" I adore her delivery. That's why she's the GOAT!
Nah, if your friends grab your phone when the head of the company is calling and jeopardise your income, that's a no for me!

I thought so but wasn’t sure!

Exactly. Women always having to sacrifice our careers and bodies, while we are supposed to be supportive of them moving up in the industry
I SUSCRIBE TO THIS OPINION!
Came here looking for this comment. Nate and her friends were absolute ASS! Like its not even a year dude. Super selfish as all heck!

worst friends in cinematic history lll
She did not grow. She herself hated the person she turned into.
The thing I didn’t like about the boyfriend was…

It's always the male reactors agreeing with Nate and the friends. I believe it's because they don't understand how difficult it is for women who want to chase a career and a passion to actually be supported by their surroundings because we are meant to be soft and warm and loving and family drive and not being so is not well seen by the world. So Andy kinda understood the issue when she said the harsh truth that is if Miranda was a man no one would bat an eye. Cause a man leaving everything aside for his job means he's driven and focused on a goal but if it's a woman she's cold and mean.
i feel like women are the only ones who REALLY get this movie lol
"She looks like she smells expensive." --- One of my favorite lines from the Hamilton musical is "Your perfume smells like your daddy's got money."
The fashion industry is hardcore they got it right.
You nailed it.
Here’s why:
Andy states in the movie that she can work for Miranda and then do what she came to New York to do.
Also lots of films set in New York are filmed in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. I live in Toronto and recognize a lot of places in films set in New York
Native New Yorker (born and raised, not colonized) here, about 5 minutes in to watching your review:
-yes, they do shut down entire streets for movie shoots. yes, it is damn inconvenient.
Edit: Another good movie I recommend is Julie & Julia. Its pretty much a biopic of Julia Child's life, another banger out of Meryl Streep featuring Amy Adams.
Edit 2: taking offense as a b*tch born and raised in the Bronx!
@@ksadiablo ...and Stanley Tucci is in that, too.
Anne Hathaway is older. Her birthday is November 12, 1982. Emily Blunt’s birthday is February 23, 1983.
4:04 yes. He was Cesar Flickerman. Stanley Tucci is his name.
Oh gosh, this just makes me want to recommend Easy A and Burlesque. Stanley Tucci is so good in everything he does, honestly, but those are some of my faves. ❤️
I’ve seen them both and Burlesque is on the channel ✔️
@@mrflickswatches I just discovered your channel today...will be jumping right to Burlesque after this.
It really was a funny line. It's so disappointing when folks don't hear it.
The intern is another good Anne Hathaway film its in my top 5 favorite movies with her😅😅😅😅
When Miranda refers to Andi as, "...the biggest disappointment...", I like to believe that she's referring to her disappointment about losing the best assistant she ever had. 😁
Bride wars is such a great movie with Anne Hathaway
17:13 That's Giselle Bünchen (Brazilian model)
I clicked so fast! I adore this movie. It’s just perfect. You are so fun to watch. ❤
my favorite part when you hit that " I never been satisfied ..." okay we stans for Hamilton !! lol
never worked in the fashion industry, but I work in politics, which is also pretty demanding - there is nothing more relatable to me than watching that girl come home and drink a glass of wine for dinner! Even if I fumble to the kitchen and make a meal for my spouse, my dinner just be a glass of wine and anger 😭
Fellow rochestarion here, very proud of your accomplishments keep up the good work.imo her friends, especially her boyfriend didn't want to accept her growth.
Stanley Tucci is not fly in The Lovely Bones. He is creepy and I'll leave it at that.
For this movie they probably did not shut it down
I’m so happy that you’re finally doing this movie! 🔥
I started paying attention to fashion and got picky with what I wear cause of this movie lol 😅
Thanks for the reaction!! Please react to The Intern. You could say it's a role reversal. Ann Hathaway is a boss there and the intern is Robert De Niro. It is a great movie
That movie is incredible ❤
Sorry but Andy deserved better. Nate was a horrible boyfriend. So what she came late for your birthday. Your life must be perfect if the worst thing that happened to you is your girlfriend missing your birthday because she is working smh. Her friends were just as bad. She wasn't being supported by anyone so I see why the attention and support of someone else would seduce her. If it was a man in her shoes, putting his career first, no one would say a thing.
If it was a man their wife or girlfriend would feel the same way Nate does, feeling neglected.
@@Knightowl1980you can feel neglected without being a baby about it, sulking and berating her job like she’s whoring herself out and it’s beneath HIM. Not her, beneath HIM. You’re gonna tell me that working in an nyc restaurant doesn’t call for late and irregular hours with unexpected overtime? PLEASE. I never spent money on a “bag” bag. I still rock a book bag, my most recent one was $23.
I have a birthday mini bag though that was $50 (I didn’t pay).
My mom is the resident fashionista. I hate it.
24:05 Emily doesn't say , "No shot", she says, "No. Shant" (Shall Not).
11:28 um, the original 101 Dalmatians came out when Meryl Streep was only 12 years old, soooo 😅
I think the most important have paid for a purse is $25
I find it interesting, that the woman who wrote the book 'Devil Wears Prada' based it on her experience of working as an assistant to Ana Wintour. What kind of boss is that woman?
32:44 most food in movies isn't what it's supposed to be. Prop houses are frequently whittling carrots to look like cheetos
One fabulous exception to that is the movie, Julie and Julia. Nora Ephron (directed) was a huge foodie and really wanted the cast to devour and appreciate the food. After all, food is pretty much a main character of the movie. 😃
Oh shiii you're from Roc? Been watching all this time and didn't even know we were neighbors 😊
It’s called the fashion district in NYC. But beware of the boosters lol lol
My fave Anne Hathaway movie is Becoming Jane. That is a truly lovely movie.
Streeps wig in this movie is phenomenal
-Nate is not a villain
-I think the story they’re going with for the sequel has to do with Miranda being an awful boss, an expose that will get her canceled (think Ellen) and I’m sure Andy will be the one to write it or to rehabilitate her image.
Loved your reaction to this movie
And this has nothing to do with the movie, but you should react to Honey & Honey 2 because Kat Graham is the main character in Honey 2 (since before this movie reaction I watched all your step up movie reactions & what you said in the beginning of the video of your reaction to the last step up got me thinking about these 2 movies)
Definitely need to watch The idea of you with Anne Hathaway. It's my favorite movie with her. Romance. It's totally worth watching.
Absolutely fantastic reaction. I've always loved this movie, especially when i need a pick me up, thank you 😊
Stanley Tucci is one of my favorites. I did love him in Easy A, but this and Burlesque are tied for number 2.
He's great in Julie and Julia, too.
Appreciate the reaction but i fear you just dont get it. I can only trust women with this jem
That’s ok! Different views aren’t a bad thing it’s just being human. Also this was my first watch, sometimes watching it another time I catch different views from it! 😊
Have you seen The Intern with Anne and Deniro? And her new movie with Nicholas Galitzine it’s good!! 😊❤
Love this movie some of my favorite actors with Ann Hathaway,Emily Blunt,Meryl Streep,& Stanley Tuci
That's just sooooo wronggg...and happens way too often! My mom had to do that and, when she retired, they ended up replacing her with 4 people!!!!
Ya' gotta' see Meryl and Stanley in, Julie and Julia
I freaked out when I saw THE MENTALIST simon baker in this movie when i was young lol
He's great in The Mentalist, and inThe Guardian. He also has a great role in Something New, with Sanaa Lathan.

😅😅 I also hate how mama Mia ends!
