      No worries man! Glad it’s helpful. If you struggle to get the rubber bushes through you could always cut them in half. I had to do this on the other side as it just wouldn’t go through the hole 😂

      How did you cut in half? I mean what direction.. along the length (top to bottom) or through the middle, in the groove ?

    • @TurnersWorkshop97
      @TurnersWorkshop97  2 года назад

      Cut straight through the groove with a Stanley blade then sandwich either side of the lower arm put the drop link through and bolt it up.

    Hiya, You have done a cracking job but use a 1.5 /2lb ball pein on your joints. it gives more "shock" and keep your Copper face/Hide Mallet for "softer blows". Please use grinder with guard . Have seen too many incidents. It seems that Americans do without guards don't join them. Bob

    Hi. I've got xlwb 98 transit. I've replaced all wings..fabricated sills..battry tray and reinforced chassis area around rear spring hangers. This particular video I needed ty. Took a few men and days to work this one our. Also, good idea to spray your bushes with rubber protector.
    I'm currently in a quandary over front strut mount area. Cut out old area replace new mounting or patch ?? I know you can only show wht your particular jobs are. Thanks anyway.. Girl power 😂

      Hi Isabel, credit to you for taking on such a big project, it’s never easy keeping the rust away but you’re definitely going about it the right way. It really depends whether you’re patching up for MOTs or whether it’s a complete restoration and you need it pristine? I personally patched this area as it wasn’t too bad. Nice to see that the girls are digging these vans too! 😁

    Well done on the welding and ARB link, I usually just cut the bottom arm Bush in half at the area it goes through the arm... Also don't use Hammerite paint, it's not as good as it was 10 or 15 years ago. I now use 2k Ford Black (or Chassis Black) in Direct Gloss formula, just like applying Hammerite but a far more durable finish and 2k will be cheaper in the long run too.
    Hope this is a slight help going forwards

    Definitely a R clip on the end of the bar (goes through a small hole in the bar end)
    Coincidentally as I was replacing track rod ends and lower ball joint today I did wonder whether I should replace the drop links. Where did you purchase the new ones?
