- Today in the shop we are unboxing a super special package from Brian House from the RUclips channel House Work. Brian custom built and sent me one of the Revolution 2x72 tilting Belt Grinder’s that he designed, and I couldn’t be more honored and grateful.
So now I get to unbox this beautiful machine, and fit my motor and drive wheel to the custom mount that he fabricated and attached with the incredible help of his son Dexter.
After a bit of finesse and fine tuning, I get the motor attached, adjusted and tracking correctly, just in time to run a few different types of steel through it.
I can’t thank Brian enough for his generosity and support of our channel, and encourage all of you to go over to his channel, House / Work, and give him some love. Subscribe, like, comment, and buy his plans if you ever though it might be a good idea to own/make your own 2x72 belt grinder.
Head over to Brian’s website, Housemade.us, to check out what he’s been working on, and his plans for building your own Revolution 2x72.

Ohh Boy! Would love to own one.
Watching you unbox that grinder was like watching my boys when they were kids getting their first bike nice grinder by they way good on ya
Dustin! Glad you love the grinder, it was great to see you tweaking it and making it your own. Can't wait to see what you build/make with it!! Have fun!
Thank you!!!
Is this piece of equipment currently commercially available for purchase? And if so, what is the anticipated cost?
Anthony Burkett - I designed the grinder for the home builder. There are people out there that will build your one. If you shoot me an email I’ll connect you up. Brian@housework.us
Just saw some other comments (and the end of the video) that answered my question... thanks!
Thanks for reaching out Anthony! Brian’s design is really nice, so I would encourage you to check it out, and if you’re up to it, buy his plans and build one your self. I’m honored to have one in my shop.
Major upgrade! I just bought Grizzly’s top of the line belt grinder. Finishing my patterns for axe handles. Stoked to get it going! Nice !
Awesome! So cool. I’m sure you are excited.
Thanks from England you've made my knife making journey so much easier with your step by step knife making video's
I love the grinder. That the next big thing im going to get for my little shop.
Cool, thanks for checking it out. I spent many many hours fine tuning this design. It gives me purpose to build the tools I use. I really love that.
Holy Heck that's nice! Really happy you and Brian got to hook up on this! Beast of a grinder! 🙌
That is an absolutely beautiful grinder. I have seen his videos on making it. And I was planning on building my own shortly.
Paul Tyson - that’s awesome Paul. Thank you brother!!
Super super excited .... did I tell you I am Super Super excited.
House is a good dude.
Yes Sir!
Daughter spotted at 10:29 😁 and congrats on the grinder.. 100% jealous

That is so awesome!! Well done for that one, cool vid
You got that machine running good. I love my revolution grinder its a beast and so stable
Now there is a big kid with a new toy!!
Its crazy that I watched the build video on this last night. Seems like a great grinder, at could come in at a really nice price point.
Good for you buddy I know you really worked and looked forward to having a 2x72.
Yeah man. I’m super pumped.
Love the video, I have the exact same motor, glad to see it is suitable for this grinder, now I can buy the plans!
Ha! Nice! I noticed the Alex Steel shirt right away. Sweet grinder!
Just like a kid at christmas i'm happy to see you happy ,mate i have been wanting one of these forever now i know wear to get the plans . I just hope he ships to Australia.cheers.
Check out Alec Steele's channel. His line of grinders come from Australia. You may find them good and close.
Gibson manufactured by 84 Engineering in Australia.
Very nice grinder Dustin!!
Nicely put together, paint it mate and bring it to life👍
Congrats on an excellent addition to your shop!
Thanks Mike!
One happy geezer !!!!
Really Nice !. I wanna save up for his kit now!
Awe yes this is rad !!!!!
😁😁😁
Very nice...
Man I could really trim my fingernails with that thing, congrats on the new grinder ,looks like a nice job he did. Cant wait to see you put it to work on some new knives
Makers looking out for makers!
🇬🇧🤜⚡️🤛🇺🇸
Square Nuts...Awesome addition to a great grinder
Oh man! Outstanding. I'm going to add one of those to my shop in the near future too.
The Revolution is an awesome tool, and Brian House has done an amazing job with the design and kit availability. Check them out at housemade.us.
Nice looking grinder. A bit beyond my abilities with my limited tools. Maybe when this pandemic has subsided I can find a place to get the parts mad and welded up. In the mean time i added a 3/8 steel platen to my harbor freight 4x36 sander. Made it a lot more usable for knives and wotnot. Enjoy watching your channel.
Yeah man! There is so much that you can do with limited tools. Just have fun and put fourth your best craftsmanship.
Good job from Glenn catt. And it looks like it needs to be welded at the bottom I only saw tack welds good video.i could be your brother.
Just bought all the tubes & plates on Ebay! Great help
Awesome!! Good luck.
Looks good brother, but I did notice a bunch of places that look like they were just spot welded.
I noticed the same and was a little disappointed. I've got the grinder in kit form and intend to fully weld all the seams. Although this will be my first welding project! I'm sure Brian's is strong enough for the task.
did the grinder come with a small wheel to replace patton for tight radius work ? if not will you be making/getting one ?
Pretty sweet man
I know, right 😁
I checked out Brian's website, It's actually a good price for this kit: $330 or $240
based on the dimming basement lights, looks like someone needs another circuit! lol looks awesome!
Definitely, and i just recently put one in:) I will actually be running the grinders, and dust collection off of their own mostly, but am still getting the space set up.
Thanks for the comment!
The second time you turned on the motor, the lights didn't go dim. How did you solve the problem?
Congratulations for your new “toy”. Jaja, I would to order you something for your first training but I am sure that it will be a big problem for me and Spanish customs..... grrrrr. Enjoy it very much Dustin. From heart. Greetings from Madrid.
Thanks Miguel! I know you would support me if you could. We will all get through this together, but in the mean time, all you need to do is enjoy the videos.😁
The Art of Craftsmanship Yeah Dustin, tks a lot.
I want to know, which grit sanding blet is the most used?
Might i suggest a few different sized drive wheels to get more speeds. Larger wheel should speed it up.
Not a bad idea, thanks.
Yeah I rock a 7” on mine and it’s fast. Now at some point a 3 phase motor with a VFD would make this beast mega versatile. 👊🏻
Too true!!
I used a treadmill motor. Allows for variable speed. Works well. When the motor dies I’ll go with a nice motor and VFD.
the manufacturer forgot to weld it together
I was wondering why it wasn't welded. Tacking is not welding, tacks are intended to hold your metal in place so your metal doesn't move when you do your main weld. Those tacks probably lack the penetration needed to hold everything in place over time.
I want one
I have an older 1" x 42" Rockwell grinder/sander that needs drive and idler wheels. The plastic wheels became brittle and flew apart. Any ideas where I could find replacements ?
You can get someone with a lathe to make them for you. All depends on the size of the bearings.
What's RPM on that 1hp motor and do you feel it has enough power. Thank you in advance.
Love this, how much? I think we all need one. Congrats!!!
Go check out Brian's website for Project direction information. I've put his links in the description. Thanks
Beautiful grinder. Brian is just the BEST. Someone with your creativity and skills is sure to get years and years of use from a machine like that. Happy grinding, stay safe, and God bless 👍
sweeeet
Hey Dustin do it right made better bolts and nuts for motor and some crackle metallic paint.....a nice silver or green. Stuart Palmer Adelaide Sth Australia
Did you sell the 1hp craftsman 2x42?
Is all that wiring in the ceiling certified!!😉 Love the vid!
Lol
@@TheArtofCraftsmanship Not trying to be critical, but you should really invest in an electrical upgrade for your shop. An electrical fire from overloaded circuits is not pleasant. Lost a previous shop I was renting due to such an issue. Landlord kept promising an upgrade but didn't happen. Luckily my renter's insurance mostly covered my loss and no one was injured, luckily.
Christmas in April.
Is that an Alec Steele damascus steel viking axe shirt you are wearing? 👍😂
Good eye!
I bought the plans for this beast and built it and LOVE it! It Rips it!!!
Thats Great! Im Super happy with it, and cant wait to make more projects.
Are you going to paint it? And if so what color?
I’m not going to paint it. Brian said etched it so it has a nice used patina to it that I really like. I will be adding a few customizations to it though😂
Очень хорошо, где купить можно
Do you have any plans to paint your grinder?
Can i see one already that you have in the back ground.
I really like the design and the rotation feature is great I have a 1" x 42" grinder and have made several knives and restored several axes and hatchets and when I can afford 1 I would love a 2 x 72 belt grinder like the 1 you just got might push me into making knives for sale, I have sold several skinners for friends it takes more than 1 knife to dress out a deer. enjoy your new toy/tool.
Did you really say "Uuuh Bene" at 10:15???
Why nobody uses those cheap angle grinders which are 1.5 and 2.5hp range as a motor? Mostr of them also have built in speed control. Prices from 30-80 USD? They are also far smaller than these big ass motors
kinda sucks though that he dosent sell them to public.. only the plans
Sebastien Dumond-Ruffel yeah, they take a significant amount of work to build. That would be a full time job in itself.
@@TheArtofCraftsmanship looks great though!
Hi Sebastien, I can connect you with some one who will build one for you. If you like, shoot me an email brian@housework.us - Thanks!!
I have the time to build another one also
It’s worth the challenge to build it! One step, sometimes half a step, at a time is what I’m doing.
Why did you have to make parts for a brand new machine to function properly?
A knifemaker, and he uses a Leatherman! What??
I love my Leatherman!
You have yourself a nice-looking belt grinder and you go and install a pathetic-looking motor.
I do the best I can do with what I’ve got, and get better things when I can. Life goals, right?!
Very glad to see you purchase a beautiful 2 x72 belt grinder from Brian House @ housemade.us . You both did a great job building it, buying it and fine tuning it yourself! May you make custom knifes with easy, and enjoy the 2 x 72 grinder from Brian.
