@TheDufresnes - Yep it's a great place. And yes, I guess the Nicoya Peninsula, whilst different has a similar vibe to Las Terrenas. Haven't been to Samara but have heard good things.
@Adonías CR thanks for the tip! I've been staying in Encuentro and was under the impression that was the most consistent spot? Although I have heard that when it's good in the South it's really good!
@@WiththeSparrows Barahona is the main destination for surfers. The recommended beaches are: Barranca, Bahoruco, Ciénaga, San Rafael, Paraíso and Los Patos. The Dominican Surf Federation has organized several important events on these beaches. hope you guys get the chance !!!
@@WiththeSparrows South has a totally diferent landscape, is our dry region, I was in Playa los Patos and we had to get out of the beach and swim in snall river because waves was bigs and strong, if you go to the south soend few nights in Santo Domingo and start from there, in Bani there are also the Biggest dunes in the caribbean so you can do some surf in the sand too hahahh.
@Ricardo Vasquez - super useful as always! The South does seem like it might be worth checking out for surf, although it doesn't seem quite as consistent as the North. I've spent many years in the Middle East so I've seen my fair share of sand dunes!
@James Brown we all had our boards that we brought from Playa Encuentro. However, there are lots of places to rent boards so you don't necessarily have to bring your own board.....it's probably best as well because it means that you can choose a board that suits the waves on any given day. Are you just heading to Las Terrenas or looking to go to other surf spots like Playa Encuentro/Cabarete area?
@diabolical1976 Thanks! It's a really nice place and apparently the reef at El Coson can be really good but it doesn't pick up as much swell as Encuentro....a lot less people though so you take the rough with the smooth.
@@WiththeSparrows I only surfed 1x...i live in Costa Rica full time, so I wasn't really tempted to go wave hunting with the conditions the way they were. Pretty fun place to visit though.
@diabolical1976 yeah the waves here are pretty fickle. Only had a few really good days in 3 months. Funnily enough I'm headed to Costa Rica in a few days!
@candydouce unfortunately not, mainly stayed on the North Coast to surf but when I go back I'll be exploring the East Coast more! I loved Las Terrenas so would be keen to see more of Samana.
Loved las terrenas! Where we live now in Samara, Costa Rica has a similar vibe

Wao Samana and Las Terrenas are definitely a paradise !!!!!
@Ingrid Martine absolutely, would love to explore the area more
Wow amazing
Wow bello mi país.
@Sarita Almonte absolutamente!!
I'd be terrified to drive there and I'm dominican
@Lolliepop Xena RI OC - why? Because of the roads? You do see some very interesting driving in DR!
My country is so beautiful. Maria Trinidad Sanchez province is the best! SO MANY COOL PLACES
@Ame. Nu .Ma. Completely agree - DR has so much to offer and I'm disappointed I didn't get to see it all!
Mi país 🇩🇴
For huge waves, next time visit the south of the country, Barahona has the biggest waves all year!!

This places is beautiful.
@Makui Mack mack indeed they were! El Coson was great although Playa Las Canas was the best.
Did you rent a board there, or bring your own? I don’t particularly want to bring me board

Grumpy Stephan at its best! 😁
@pascal christen you should see him now that he is injured and can't surf or windsurf!

How did you meet people
@Liam Nicol - usually it's just the case of staying at hostels and talking to people!
@@WiththeSparrows ahhh I thought you were staying alone, thanks I’m looking to go end of august
Great video, actually the limon water falls is much more abundant with water. Nice aerial pan shot.
@Louis Escano thanks - I would imagine Limon is great with more water.....but I would take less people over more water.
That place is incredibly, it’s like another world
@Luis Rodriguez it is incredible. Sad that I won't be back for a while. I take it you have been to Las Terrenas?
😍
Glad you are having very good time in the real Dominican Republic.
@Ricardo Vasquez - I certainly cannot complain!
Bienvenidos a mi pais ☺
