Another great bleather. So many interesting topics. I pictured the first couple audio podcasts being carried out around the kitchen table as it is always so relaxed and with humour. Thank you.

Another great episode Cammy. Interesting to hear how aghast Heather was on learning of your vote for independence. And then to tell us about seizing opportunities “if the doors half open.....”

Loved your podcast, as always. I find it so interesting, even though I live in California, USA, and don’t farm. Hoping you and Lizzie will own a farm of your own one day. You are both very hard working, and I enjoy all of your content, here, and on The Sheep Game. You and Iona make a great team, too.

    Hi Cammy & Iona.
Do you think the Women in Agriculture organisation is trying to create a bigger divide in the agricultural industry than trying to achieve equality?
When you look at the statistics, there are more females in agricultural colleges now, there are grants in Agriculture for purely being female and even Heather said that the majority of the people on the Cultivating leaders program were female. There's now a Women in Agriculture Awards but not a Men in Agriculture Awards.
I've spoken to people in the agricultural supply industry and management roles are being prioritised to females because of their gender instead of their actual capability of being able to do the job.
There's always a big media push for international women's day but international men's day always gets swept under the carpet.
Are we heading towards a generation of discrimination towards men instead of gender equality like it should be?

Brilliant podcast Cammie and Iona, Heather was really brilliant. What you said about Catholic Church was very true but thankfully it has changed so much at last most of us have got out from under their thumb. One other thing Cammie take the advice Heather gave you about making a will its probably one of the most important thing you and Lizzie will do,As well no offence taken about your comment and the Catholic church.

BC= BRILLIANT CAMMY .Great guest ,great craic .As for Iona being an accident, I'd say the reason John Murray has never bought a female is because none can rise to the standards he and mum have set with Iona.

The 7 year gift relief is tapered, but vitality import in this transaction is that the Giver cannot after the date of the gift derive any economic benefit from the gift. Common example being, gifting a house, then continuing to live in it for a token/peppercorn rent. HMRC are getting very hot on that.
Also diversification to your core farm business can affect the IHT relief. Holiday cottages that were once farm worker cottages may no longer be seen as IHT excempt. Gifting can also trigger a CGT bill, as it is a point of asset disposal, book cost to asset value at the date of gift.
It requires qualified advice, and I am not qualified.

Cammy have you heard the expression "save a match and buy a farm" ? My parents did it in Ireland in 1968. Can be done.

Cammy. Please dont take offence. But i think you should stop telling Iona she was an accident. Have you actually asked her how she really feels by you saying that all the time. Whats her parents going to think hearing that all the time. I know it may be a joke between yous. But its actually am insult.

Cammy a United Ireland is a fantasy idea talked about by Sinn Fein who have murdered and bombed many mainly British people. Please keep your political views to yourself as a Northern Irish citizen it would be ludicrous of me to try and talk about Scottish politics having zero clue about it.
